I don't like the idea of one/a couple of people hoarding treasure maps for boosting, while they're a BB requirement.
Read what Amber was telling me about rare items going out. Draw a parallel from rare items to stats. I'm sure this will not be a viable way to boost. But a chance to gain a few stats along the way is nice.
I'd rather see boons/currencies going out from treasure maps, than items/stats going out.
Something that's going to make treasure maps unique and not coin machine v 2.0.
We could have
Coin Machine : Items/SP/Stats/
Treasure Maps : Items/SP/Boons/
Boons including a small number of X currency being added, or the idea I brought earlier to have blessings that affect random events or quest gains.
If you want stats, use the coin machine, if you want boons, use treasure maps. Have them be complimentary, not two things that do exactly the same.
idk, I don't see why they both can't do similar things in different ways. a boon to increase sP from quests is kinda the wrong direction to go though, there's already enough sP going out for quests. coin machine does not have the option to get the rare items that tmaps most likely will. I don't see why stats are the thing that separate them. you just seem heavily biased against adding stats, which most users will not mind the addition of them to the machine I feel.
what about referral points / referral shop items? it's hard to get these for most users + you can't even find a lot of these items for sale.
They're nerfing boosters and making them less available for a reason : they don't want people to boost as easily.
Adding other boosters would totally undo what BA are trying to do.
Yes, I know that you're upset that it's harder to restock boosters and the likes. Yes, it sucks. But do you know what needs to give out more stats and boosters?
Battling.
I'd rather see no sale/no trade eggs added to tiers 4-6 and 7-9 than have more things spit out stats? Have stats being given out for things more related to battling than just everything else for the sake of having more stats.
I'm not against adding more stats to actual battling. You're preaching to the choir at this point. I wouldn't actually consider a chance to get stats from a map a booster. I don't consider the coin machine a booster, I don't consider scratchcards a booster. Boosters are being killed at most sources of them in order to drive up prices, but this is actually hurting users that don't buy them. The "rich" users that are the ones that buy boosters in large amounts are the ones they're trying to hurt from raising the price. Booster prices aren't actually going up much, because most people only buy them at certain prices and a lot of the higher tier people are waiting to boost because no one is sure about speed. The only real way to make stat boosters go up is to draw in more users to battling. Inflating things before drawing in interest will just scare off newer users, especially if other sources of increasing your stats are drying up and there's just the training center. I don't think getting 5 stats every 10 maps or something is going to cause an uproar from the BAs and hinder their plans though, as Amber would have to check with them.
People are not interesting into battling because it's a long-term thing.
Training a pet is a lot of money, and investment, and it's SP that they'd rather put elsewhere - in aesthetics, in their wardrobe, in galleries, in a lot of other things.
People want to go and get goods now, get things now, which is why the wardrobe is so popular. It's cheap, you don't need to use up SP to expand it, getting good clothes is not that expensive, and you can reap the benefits now.
Battling will always have a hard time luring people in, because its premise is interesting, but it demands a lot more investment that the average user is willing to give
If they had a challenger every month, a recycled old challenger or a current one we have, make an achievement prize (yes achievement prize) to limit the number of the items going out, and just start off with small challengers, more people would be motivated to battle. right now it's almost always cheaper to buy battle prizes than it is to train a pet and earn your own. There's a ton of interest in battling during battle plots or battle week, then it immediately dies down. Why? people want prizes. If we have an exclusive item every month and we limit them so it's not just cheaper to buy, it motivates people to actually battle.
Interest always dies down the second a T2 pet can't defeat a challenger. You know it.
I don't think I've ever had a t2 pet. Maybe my smaller pets were t2, but I don't battle with them so much. It would still drum up some interest, especially if it was promised to happen every month.
Most people probably have a high tier 2 pet because they trained for the blue building, they kept going a little after and then, never really bothered.
But yeah, I'm pretty sure that like 90% of the site doesn't have a battle pet above tier 3.
I wouldn't mind having a battle week, like, every 3-4 months or so, instead of one-challenger-a-month-tough-luck-if-you-can't-beat-it.
If there were more incentives to battle would more people do it? I think they would. I don't think a battle week that often is as practical as a challenger every moth though, as much as I would love battle weeks that often. And there's no reason why a monthly challenger couldn't eventually be brought back.
three battle weeks offering four new challengers of different skill levels would demand the same effort as 12 challengers of different skill levels and will be more inclusive and less infuriating for the majority of the userbase because well, if the monthly challenger can only be beaten by tiers 6 and up, well, what's the point?
if you started it off with low tier opponents and tell everyone that it will be increasing in difficulty, it gives people a chance to train. I don't know how bunching them together makes it more inclusive or infuriating. suddenly someone who is too weak can't beat 3 challengers at once instead of one single challenger in a month.
How much of the userbase are going to train their pets up from tier 1 to tier 12 in the span of a year?
At some point, they're going to hit a wall before challegers strength gets a lot harder and so does training, and they'll stop caring about battling altogether.
Having one progressively tougher challenger a month isn't a good idea because of how training works, sadly. It would be cool, yes. But, in my eyes, it's not the optimum solution.
Plus, for older battlers, the first months would be really boring. Wow. Such tier 1 challenger.
Having challengers grouped together is, imo, less annoying. Easier challengers for people that are going to go and get from T1 to probbly T4-5 during a period of one year, and harder challengers, from the get-go, for people who have been battling for a long time!
That way, everyone's gonna look forward to it.
it wouldn't just be for a year. if someone really finds that battling is fun and the extra challenger has helped them stay interested, they'll train past that. I have not once hit a challenger I couldn't beat and completely given up. you're talking like the entire userbase is a bunch of defeatists. Sure they can sprinkle a few of the tough challengers in there that not everyone can beat, but doesn't that give them motivation to continue training? Maybe next time the challenger comes out, they can beat them. idk that's how a lot of the battlers I know are. older battlers I'm sure would enjoy the emphasis on battling. I have a t12 pet, I'm never disappointed that a new t1 challenger is released. sure I would like more higher tier opponents, but I love any new challenger we get. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this way.
back to tmaps, I think currencies would be enjoyable from them, along with rare items as long as the chances of these are not too high. but I would also appreciate a small chance to get a few stats. I'm sure if people started hoarding these and prices got too high, RE rates would be increased a bit and rare item rates would be decreased. I trust Amber and Ariel will watch these to make sure things don't get too unbalanced.
I opened this thread and found treasure map piece The irony :p

(On the topic of stickers though, I am ecstatic about how much attention it has been getting. The Hustler stickers, releases in Stick it to the Man, TS....and the new stickering feature!
