I like the new design because the Ontra seems more fluid, and able to swim in the water better than the older one. I always disliked the Ontra's tail in the older version. I never could picture the old version swimming that easily. But now, the tail seems to be more flexible. I don't know how I feel about the ears being down. I noticed other people saying they liked them, or disliked them.

Overall, I look forward to seeing the new Ontra and in various colors / designs! :)

I LOVE THIS. Although. as another user had mentioned, I would like to see what it looks like with the ears upwards, so you can see the inner part of the ear. :o

Overall this revamp is great and I love almost every detail about it. The tail is fantastic, just a great design and pattern. I think the artist did a great job maintaining the feel of the original pet while still updating the art.

I really do not like the new ears however. I'm not opposed to the ears and would probably like them in other poses but as they are I just don't like them being folded down. I don't like how it makes the Ontra look sheepish. If they were perked up a bit more I would probably love this design entirely.

I like the new version, but I think I like the pose of the old one better. But the new one is very very cute.

With the otter being tied for my fave sea animal along with the dolphin, I have to say that this is a mega improvement. I WOULD like to point a few small things out though:

I'm not a fan of the tail. I know this is an Ontra, not an otter, but neither the Sea nor the River otters have fins on the tail. It looks really odd mixing an Otter with what is more of a whale's tail. Otters' tails are sleet and fin-free. This is one thing that's really bugged me about the Ontra, having fins on the tail.

It'd be nice if the Ontra's ears weren't so flat back against the head. It makes it look nervous or afraid instead of happy. It'd be nice if the ears were more straight up. The ears being straight up would make it easier for the Ontra to hear XD However, it's nice to actually see ears now! XD I know the example suggestion I've given for the ears are rather small, but once again I'm working with a mouse here, so try and imagine them a little bigger? XP

Finally the fur! It could use more texturing instead of being so textureless in so many places. Even when wet (as you can see in the otter picture above) there's loads of texture.

With the rest of it, though, I can't believe my eyes. It's so super squee-worthy!

- You can't just get rid of the fin because it's not realistic. It's one of the ontra's defining characteristics, and it's totally generic without it.

And I think it's silly to remove the fin to make it more sleek, and then ask for the fur to be more textured. :P

I love the new design, and it's always nice to see an art update. Personally, I liked the old position of the head more and how it was looking up that way. I think the new design is a bit too cutesy compared to the old one, especially with the ears back. Something I do really love about the new design? The markings, especially on the fins. The hind leg placement is a lot better there, too.

All in all, I'm a little hard-pressed to make a choice one way or the other. There's just a certain charm in the old design I'm still attached to, but maybe that's because I've acclimated to it! The new one does flow better, has nicer colours, and is well-drawn, but like I said, the overly cutesy face/expression isn't for me.

In the end, I give my kudos to the artist for doing a good job! It's not easy to change a pet that many people are undoubtedly very fond of. Even then, I will be voting for the old design, unless there is an update to the new design, which I'm sure is within the realm of possibility.

There's not enough fur texturing on a LOT of the pets. It's one thing that should be changed. There's so much flat about so many pets it just doesn't feel right. Not saying flat in regards to colour, but flat in regards to texture. Texture is so badly needed.

Besides, mega changes were made to the Tigrean, why not to the Ontra?

I like the visible ears, but I kind of miss the larger head.

I LOVE the updates especially the tail fins. Kind of gives the ontra that little extra something (can't think of the right word in English XD). ❤️ I now need an ontra in my life.
