The only reason I can guess as to why that wouldn't happen is because people would attempt to get renominated with the same profile over and over again BUT they can already do that today, right now, for 500 csc by just renaming the original pet and recreating the name-- so I don't think that's a solid reason to not do this.
Like personally I'm kinda with on this one-- while I don't mind a good OC read, the character in question has to be my cup of tea or I'm disinterested and just wander off, however I will spend hours checking out pet's with loaded TCs that follow themes for potential ideas/inspirations/finding items I hadn't even remembered. I love TC themed pets, one's exactly like 's actually, because I'll remember the pet name 5 months from now when I REMEMBER there was something super perfect that I need but I can't remember the name of. TC themed pets used to be my favorite spotlight winners, and yeah these days most pets don't have TCs at all (or if they do, the items are like 23px x 23px or totally hidden away).
4.. Instead of a retro spotlight-- I'd actually really like to see like a Pet Showcase that was setup a lot like the adoption center is, where you see x amount of pets and when you refresh there's different ones?
Like it could be as limited as just past spotlight winners/pet's currently accepted into the spotlight queue, but it could also be coded to allow users to dictate that a pet is "finished" or "Showcase ready" (ie: you're happy with where it's at) and those pets would be in the showcase (and if you didn't like the pet.. then that's okay, just refresh the page lol). There could even be options like why you happy with this pet = TC, story, profile, custom overlay, stats, bananas, etc.. and the showcase, much like the pound, could have "search" options.. so if you wanted to check out some awesome profiles/art/TCs/battle pets... you could search for just those to ogle and look at.
I was going to make a board about this/post on the spotlight board... but frankly anything that includes both pets + coding = automatic assumption it'd never happen. But I guess if it was just past winners/to-be-winners then, that might happen. Maybe.
Fuck to the yes. I saw this mentioned on the spotlight suggestion thread I think by ? with various things that someone could pick and choose, and I really loved her list.
Why can't they just do the thing like they do with CWs? YOU GET AN ALERT LISTING REJECTIONS OMG WOW SO AMAZE DO THIS WITH CHECKBOXES.
Yes. Since we aren't supposed to ask for nominations this would be a perfect way to get people more involved with pets that are spotlight ready and need nominated.
GO POST THIS ON THE OTHER THREAD OMG. THIS DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO DO WITH IT NOT BEING EVERY DAY. Go post so we can make valid points for everyone to see
I miss it being daily as well :(
Feedback on things i read through this topic and some other pet spotlight discussion i saw somewhere else:
I really really would freak out if I would have my pet spotlight trophies removed after certain time. I tend to keep my characters as they are and I want to keep the trophies I earned. An optional thing? Yeah cool, I can live with that. But I don't want something I worked for and that I'm proud on removed.
I'm so tired of the "not enough pets in the queue". My friend and I both had several pets in the queue since around january, I had 6 in the queue, SIX. Do you know how long it took to see some movement in their nomination status? Last month 1 of mine got kicked and 1 of my friend on the same day, after around 5 months in the queue. My 5 others are still sitting there, either not being judged or just not winning, my friend her pets as well. So on one side i hear: if you have loads of pets then you are probably more likely to win loads because there are so few entries, on the other side i hear: we don't have many pets to judge. Then where the fuck are my 5 pets after almost half a year? Either they are in the winning queue and i'm just unlucky despite the quantity of pets or they are in the "we hardly have entries" queue.

- I'll gladly explain how mine generally get nominated. I put a new status up saying something like "So and so is completed!" Completing a pet, especially one that has been a pita, is a joyful celebration/brag worthy. After that, someone looks over the pet, and nominated it if all looks good. I tend to ask friends for critiques as well prior to even making the status and enabling the Nomination link. Once that is done someone eventually nominates the pet. I never know who does the actual nominations though.
(I don't remember this ping, not sure if I didn't get it or I just missed it r__r...) Oh no, like I didn't mean auto removal, I elaborated more on the other board about this I think-- basically after a period of time (6 to a year?) you'd have the ability to disable nominations for a previously winning pet (removing the trophy automatically) and if you enabled it, you could have them win again.
There should also be a warning at the top of the page that let's you know if you disabled this on a previously winning pet the trophy will go away.
I absolutely understand people leave pet's as is once they finish them/once they win, but there's a great deal of people who don't (it's pretty common to see past winners UFA or "my pet won and now I'm bored and idk if I should just ditch the pet and make a new one so it can win again") so by letting people rinse and repeat, it just opens more doors which is something the spotlight apparently needs? Unless it doesn't lol, then I'll just go back to ignoring it like I have been since it came out it's really no skin off my back xD
And I would but I think it's dead and it'll be ignored anyways because this is a clothing site not a pet site and pet's aren't worth coding anything for so lol :'D
LOL WELL.
"OMG I FINALLY FINISHED MY PET" "LOOK AT THE PROFILE I DID/GOT MADE" "HERE LOOOOOK JUST LOOK LOOK AT IT"
I know when I work on profiles for people and I really like their pets, I will nominate them. I nominate my friend's pets. People usually get excited when they get stuff done for their pets and will tell you whether you care or not (when I get art for Kittea, I'm ecstatic, so fuck yea when she's done, you better believe this entire site will know it). When people look at pet profiles, they auto-nominate. I show people in the SB profiles I'm coding because I like to show off pretty things I make, and MULTIPLE times my coding pet has been nominated, and I'm just like "... uh, I have lorem ipsum text did you even read why are you willy nilly clicking stop that". But yea, literally just showing your pets to people will get them nominated.
Also, leashing. When people leash their pets, I almost always look at them. But that's just me.
That's actually a really good point. People do put pets UFA a lot, esp ones with really good names, and of course people are going to want those pets. But if they won spotlight, what are you going to do with that pet? (I mean, you can do lots of things with it, but not in terms of spotlight) That would probably help with the queue too. Some people just really like working on pets and submitting them. Just let them do that forever and ever and ever.
(No shh I'm here for everything I call this a pet site when I talk to my boyfriend because I have no idea how to say "subeta" properly. The pet aspect better fucking come back in full colors.)
Do you want me to do it? I WILL DO IT. I WILL BUMP THE TOPIC WITH SOME SASS.
Definitely. I mean I don't want to see a pet have to be ditched/given away in order to remove the trophy-- I have a large number of pets over 2k stats that'd take a stat hit if I had to do that, for example, not to mention the waiting periods and/or risk of loosing it in the pound. I wouldn't want to see it automatic because the pet may overly be the same with minor tweaks over the years and the owner doesn't really feel the need to win again.
But there's a lot of reasons people might want to have the trophy removed, including re-winning with the exact same pet/profile because they still really like it -shrugg- If anything that'd be like a cleaner version of re-visiting past winners y'know? A lot of past winners are gone/have inactivity renames (ex: Max_123)/have blank profiles/have different names/have different profiles/are owned by other users, but if pet's could/wanted to rinse and repeat then it's just revisiting which isn't a bad thing imo.
(Lol I call it sue-bet-uh, calls it sue-bay-tuh, but either way it isn't a pet site xD! It was once upon a time, but the only people who care about pets on the site now aren't programmers so unless it's art based, it ain't happenin'. I feel lucky that at least SOME staff give even the tiniest fuck about pets, tbh.)
You're more than welcome to if you want xD
I don't want my babies that have won to lose their trophies. :'(. The new news for potion lottery and what the recycle beast is collecting that day. I just enjoy looking at the pets, reading stories, art, treasure chests. Now I feel if one cannot code or pay for coding or art, but they tell a story and maybe put up some pictures and a story etc. they should be able to put their pets up for nomination. I think some people have different ideas what a well loved pet looks like. Like me it hurts my heart to see a pet without a minion and at least their free three treasure spots not filled. Others feel like one has to have a story and art.
Now I think one maybe could have the option to remove their trophies from their pets and hope they get picked a second time after a year or so. I, myself would be very sad for mine for mine to lose them automatically.
I miss it being every day too. now I know for sure my pet(s) will never win. there are way too many people trying for this. :(
Public Ping Group - Xanadu Galleria and RAE Collab
I really really extremely want:I'm pretty sure one of my pets, Mandi, has been nominated for close to a year, with nothing... I think someone I bought art from about nine months ago nominated her. I stopped playing for about 8 months, came back, and just now checked, she's still nominated. I highly doubt she got booted, then re-nominated because I haven't been active. I don't really even consider her spotlight ready, but seriously, I just... don't get it. That seems like a ridiculous amount of time to wait.
Huh! Wait a minute... the spotlight is not everyday anymore? o.O When was this changed? Did I miss a news post?
If it helps, I check my nominated pets daily (ok, I know that sounds sad! :P) and two were nominated a surprisingly long time ago, and haven't been booted from the queue since (when I last tried to nominate someone else's pet, it told me I wasn't able to nominate the pet until after the 7 day cool down):
Crumple-Horned Snorkack - nominated 7th December 2014 Infinitely - nominated 15th January 2015
(I hadn't realised it was quite so long since they were nominated!)

Thanks, :) It helps to know the info!
Just as an update, actually, I'm currently in limbo with the spotlight until I can get together with a programmer to make changes - which should be soonish, but there are obviously lots of other really pressing things being worked on so it's hard finding a time when we're both available. I have an idea of it being able to happen soon, though :)
I just went back and searched when people told me they nominated a pet of mine or when I discovered they were nominated (i check almost daily)
Joeri: 3 January Appel: 4 January Street: 18 January Linde: 9 February Janne: 28 February
Bram & Bovyne got nominated the same day as Street, Bram won 18 February and Bovyne didn't get kicked out until 19 April. And due to my obsessive checking I know they haven't been thrown out and renominated.
So I had 7 pets nominated since the start of the year, 1 won, 1 got kicked out and 5 are still waiting.

Omg, this! I don't want to lose my trophies on my hard work. It should be optional.
I would NOT want an auto trophy removal in place. If my pet wins spotlight, then they won for good. I&;m not changing my pet (wow no I put too much effort into my characters like lol I&;m not changing them I will buy a new slot okay). So I would rather it be an optional removal at 6mo/1yr (I&;d prefer a year though).

Yup, if you want to remove your Trophy, then do it- it should not be removed automatically, though.
The Pet Showcase idea mentioned would be a nice idea for this. That way the past winners would be in a gallery, like the Adoption Center, and on each page you have x amount of past winners to look at, and if someone removes their Pets' trophy it would be also removed from the Showcase, able to win again. The way the past winners are presented right now would probably look a bit messed up if some people remove their trophies. :/
(I hope I understood the idea correctly now, if not my bad... ^^')
Also, I'd love to see Pets winning who only have a nice profile and a Treasure. Stories are often way too important to some, in fact I do enjoy writing stories myself, but most of the time I just cannot come up with something to write, even though I have a story in mind / a character. I'd love to have a Pet spotlight ready without having the feeling that someone will reject them thinking "no story, lol". I know I could always write a very short text, but I'd rather tell their "story" in their Treasure, probably leave the interpretation of it open to others.
I have two pets that were submitted at the same time as 's: one was kicked after 4-5 months and the other has been in the queue since January.
Tbh I've basically stopped working on my pets because with how many of me and multiple friends pets are in limbo right now...what's the point really, if they aren't going to move for another 6 months or longer?
