I have... less of a question and more of general thoughts. So we did a rp for last chapter, in which we could have written about damages, injuries and the like. Our team, for example, wrote it so that the ship doesn't get too much damage although the exact amount is unknown - we just weren't sure how much we should incorporate if we didn't know yet what we would get on the scale. Now we got major structural damage, but in the rp it is only surficial, although ugly crunches and burns.

So (I'm finally getting to the point) is the damage scale just an extra factor for points to make it interesting? (It does, btw. I'm a P&P player myself. Yay, roll the dice!) Like, you can just lose/gain points, but it doesn't necessarily have to affect the rp? Or is it meant to be incorporated into what we write? In that case, maybe we could do the scales at the beginning of a chapter, then we'd even be able to write in the matching degrees of damage etc. (I do think that'd actually be fun. Like fate. You get told that your characters will suffer and then you have to decide how.)

And it won't be a negative factor for judging when our rp doesn't match what we got on the damage scale, will it?

Well, when folks asked about the damage before, you were all told you wouldn't know until after the fight and to just do the battle. But, basically, some folks ignored that and RPed their own damages as to how they would like them.

Yes, in some ways, it is an extra factor, and yes, it is for realism and interest. It only affects the RP for those who went ahead and ignored the "not until after" statement. I doubt it will affect the judging in any way.

Now, about the "tell us in advance" aspect. You have no idea what sort of chaos this would cause and the amount of complaints and all other sorts of flak that would flood my smails. Besides, with the vigor with which teams ignored the fact they were told it wasn't going to be until after, I don't think we can assume that telling anyone before would make folks more likely to listen.

This has been a very contentious event this time around, and I'm truly hesitant to add anything that will create more contention. In fact, my most current inclination is to toss the whole idea completely, quite frankly.

Ah, you're so right. Sorry. I personally find the whole thing kinda fun, but there are certainly some who don't or wouldn't anymore if it were that way. I'm loving Pugsy's outfit quest though! That is such a cute idea. Tossing or keeping the rolling dice thing is a okay-whatever thing for me, but designing outfits for NPCs is so much fun, and other rather personal quests would surely be, too. So if it's possible, can these stay? puss in boots eyes

.. I was kind of looking forward to writing damages/healing/on the mend etc as part of the point count.. maybe as an extra for those that "picked" a bad number. Oh well... would have been kind of fun I think. I hope you don't scrub the whole thing though, I love that it adds a new "flavor" to the RP and puzzles!

Some odds and ends, but first of all, a VERY important matter. With the close of Chapter 6, we're past the halfway point. Some of you have already mentioned to me that you "haven't seen hide nor hair" of a few of your team members. NO, this does NOT mean those who have fallen ill, had a family or personal emergency, lost a computer and are trying to get back to you, took a week's vacation or business trip, or ANY good and reasonable excuse. THEY ARE FINE! This means those who signed up, did maybe one or two small things, if that, and then poofed into smoke. I need those names and whether you want to bounce them from your teams or not. Only the team itself can make a decision about whether or not a member needs to be eliminated, so I will only say this:

The Squirrel's Bounty is being stocked. It will have more things added and hopefully we will reach three prizes per player. This is very nice stuff (some even on my wishlist!) that has been donated by a number of really kind folks, purchased from the proceeds from the "Squirrel's Stash" shop, which is stocked not only by me, but by other's surplus items, or has come directly from my pocket. The bottom figure on each of these items is 6 million SP or higher. It is loaded with CWs, CS wears, rare collector's items, and a lot of books for those battle pets.

If you are playing, and have held through this adventures with all its demands, you deserve your prizes! When it's fully stocked, there will be enough to make every team happy, no matter what their overall score.

If your whole team is fabulous and you're rocking, that's terrific, but if not, do you really want the so-called "members" you've had to cover for nearly from the beginning and who haven't even dropped you a note to say why they're not around to share in what all the rest of you earned? Your choice, teams, but think about it.
