The July 2017 newly wearable archive page was pointing to 2016 instead of 2017. So I changed it to 2017, but now I get a blank page instead of the 2017 page. I don't think I did anything wrong. The 2017 page is there.....so I have no idea what's happening.

I must have had an extra space or something in the title of the page. I redid it and it seems find now. Sorry about that. I should have checked when I did it. :/

Thanks for taking care of the gen tech page. I thought I would get it tonight but just like yesterday, the new girl did not show up so I ended up working late to cover for her.

Although Mom's physical health continues to be stable, if not excellent, her mental ability to take care of herself has declined dramatically since the last time I was down in June. When I arrived here on Friday, I found uneaten portions of meals that had been left out in the open for days (weeks?), attracting ants and fruit flies. That's a new development just since June.

I've been on hazmat duty here the past few days, cleaning the worst of it the best I can, trying not to find all the surprises lurking behind cabinet doors, and having a conversation with the rest of the family about her long-term care.

I'm doing better. My schedule seems to be mostly back in place :D. Actually I've been really good the past week four of my more annoying symptoms have improved, though one has gotten worse. Still its a good trade off.

Sounds like you need another new person. Did she just not show up? Is she calling in sick? I'd be really annoyed about now, even if she has legitimate reasons for not being in!

ugh...no one needs to be finding surprises like that! I don't know what the situation is like there, but when my guy's mom was declining, she had home care workers coming in. They weren't always the best, and things did get cluttered and messy, but at least food wasn't left laying around. Sorry you're having to deal with that and I hope you & your family can work things out so everything gets taken care of without overburdening anyone.

I guess one is better than four. At least, if the one is not more painful and/or stinky than the four. I am glad you are getting more or a schedule working for you. Seems like that is a pretty important thing to keep you healthier.

There are actually going to be 4 new people starting next week. And after August 18th I will not be affected by it anymore! I got a new job!! A new job doing tech support for Intuit and making $3.40 more an hour than I do now. That is just the starting pay. I am pretty excited to be able to pay my bills without worrying too much about it. Maybe even be able to get my car inspected! BIG DREAMS

I am really sorry for all going on with your mom. Is it possible to hire someone to check on her every day? At least that way maybe things like food left out could be taken care of daily rather than left for you to discover.

Aging parents is such a traumatic thing to deal with. When my dad had his heart attacks and surgeries is was terrible. When my mom had cancer it was worse.

wow! Congratulations! I was wondering if that might be the case with the little hint you dropped last week. Tech support sounds way better than selling guns! And higher pay never hurts!

I remember when I went from a low paying job to one that pretty much doubled my take home pay, I tried to keep to my old spending habits. Which I mostly did, but it was so nice not to have to worry when something unusual/unexpected came up. I always had the funds to deal with it. So much stress removed when you are no longer living paycheck to paycheck.

- I'm sorry to hear about your mom's decline and current state. I second what other people have said. Can you and the rest of your family find someone to check on her daily? Would an assisted living facility be appropriate for her, or is she not yet ready for that stage? That really helped my grandfather when he started losing his vision.

Thanks! I am pretty excited about it. Tech support is much more up my alley than guns, lol. I think having done tech support for Dell helped me get this. He offered me the job on the spot and we talked for almost 2 hours. My boss is really not happy but I keep reminding her it is not personal and i have to do what is right for me. PAYING MY BILLS is right for me!

Seems to me if a company treats its staff like adversaries rather than valued assets, they can't complain when said staff look for better jobs. I've turned down job offers for better paying jobs when I was with a company where I felt valued and happy - because those perks were more important than money.

Your boss is in a tough spot - she has to implement the shitty policies from the higher ups, but also sees exactly how that impacts front line staff. My guess is that they don't value her experience or opinions any more than they value the people at your level. I'd suggest she look for a new job too, but it would be harder for her since she'd probably be looking at a pay cut if she moves.

Feels great to get an on the spot job offer! I'm not a great interviewee. My personality is vastly different when I meet a stranger vs how I am with friends, even short term acquaintances. I'm too defensive and I revert back to childhood habits. Being a "well-behaved" girl child, not calling attention to myself, not bragging, being quiet, etc, are not the qualities that make for a great interview. LOL and if those ARE the qualities they're looking for, I would not be a good fit for the job!

Oh and since this is the working thread....I finished about half the stickers yesterday and should be able to get the rest done today.

- Wow, getting offered the job on the spot is incredible! I've never had that happen! You must have felt so great!

- I've been doing pretty well. I bought myself a planner and each night before I go to bed, I try to write myself a list of things I have to do the next day, from the very basic (like brush your teeth) to more challenging (like take care of homeowner's insurance). It's helped me stay on task and make sure I do the things to take care of myself. It's still definitely a work in progress, but doing well enough that my therapist now wants to see me every other week instead of weekly. I must be doing something right!

There is a whole backstory here but in a nutshell the day after I applied for this job my boss offered me her job because she wanted to move on up, as it were. Except her job is a lot more hours and tons more stressful and pays less than what this new job I got will pay. So while I agree wholeheartedly that money is not the only reason to take a job, I also agree that added stress and LESS money are good reasons to turn down a job!

I am fairly certain I will not be able to get online from the new job and I don't like that but honestly, it was coming soon anyway with the whole cameras over the shoulder so whatever. I will live!

I might adapt something like that for myself. As a procrastinator I need that kind of nudge. Unfortunately I can't use quite the same system because I never know day to day how I'll be feeling, if I'll have the energy to do even basic things. Some mornings, its even a challenge to brush my teeth. Or something like a doctor's appointment (of which I have way too many) can disrupt the whole day.

I didn't mean that you were taking the job for the extra money - I know you haven't been happy there, and its only going to get worse. I'm pretty sure you would have jumped at a new job even for the same amount of money. Its just companies that need to be aware that staff happiness is often more important than other considerations.

Ah...now I get why this is extra upsetting for your boss. Well, I'm sure she'll manage something. You aren't responsible for her career. The tough part would have been deciding to turn down the promotion without another job on the horizon.

Its too bad you won't be able to access subeta at your new job, but hopefully you'll be kept busy enough not to mind too much. What would drive me insane would be having lots of time at work with nothing to do and still not able to play my games.
