I’ve been talking with artists about a few new things for the Sable Smithy. Right now, everything in that shop is used to make Genetech things and Keith wants to change the way we do genetech so it doesn’t make every item you use for it super expensive (because seriously once people find out how to make something the prices of the items generally shoot up and it’s crazy). I've suggested maybe some molds for toys or other things, though, so it isn't all just LET'S BUILD WEAPONS. Also there were so many waves to the Menagerie this year because there were some items left from last year. I’ve stated that we want to start doing less items but with high quality (like those portraits and stuff were amazing and all the lounge foods were beautiful and unique), which is why Survival had "less items" than what people were used to. Also those trading cards that were released last year were seriously added just so people could get the achievement that had been unachieveable up until that point. We’ve moved away from adding so many restockables to try to add items to different features around the site. Trash Can, Carnival Games, Forum Shop, etc. We want to get all areas some love which means for a bit some areas are neglected. We might not have had stickers in shops but we’ve had them in places like the Hustler and Quest Shops.
I’m pretty sure we are only missing the last SBQ set as an achievement? Which I’ve already posted I’ll be doing with our next release (which is happening like next week). Any others that are missed I'll make sure to get to as well.
The battle admins will have to weigh in on the lack of new weapons. I don’t want to put words any ones mouth so I can't really say much about this.
Spells Galore is highly neglected along with the Shouk. With our themed months, however, we plan on getting two these shops!
You'll be happy with our summer event then :x
Oh, huh. I thought I added up to the last Professor New set (in January). I'll make sure to add 2Scare and Bonfire too!
BUT BASICALLY: We are trying to move away from doing a lot of items each holiday. The Masq was different because we did have items from last year left over that we needed to get out (we already paid for the art so). Survival was a good balance of items, we had minions/books/plushies/beanbags/wearables. Our Millionaire Center rotation had a little bit of everything. We are trying to hit neglected features like the trash can and carnival games (which I kind of want to update how those pages look haha). We try to add quest shop items periodically for those who do quests often. Mike and I are working on revamping the Blue Building, which will mean more items will go there (and they won't be as easy to get sorry!).
Our themed months are really helpful because it makes it easier to get items in those places. We've gotten new fruits for the space tree (andmore to come). We got new zapper exclusive minions (with more to come in the future). One of the themes we are hoping to do is going to involved the Spell Galore Shop (REVAMPS YAY) as well as get some awesome things in the Shouk. Believe me, I have a huge list of places I'd like to get items thrown into that I've shared with artists. If you notice with all the forum shop items and like today with carnival items, we try to get one of everything (beanbag, plushie, wearable, book, etc). One place I'm really excited for that we are going to get some new items for soon is the Delphi Museum!
We will be doing an sP sink soon that will involve a way for people to be able to get old restock war prizes, reading drive, etc etc so they can finish their collections. Still trying to figure out a way to get wearables out, though haha.
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread for feedback in general for things you'd like to see in other places around the site. I can't guarantee you'll get a lot of restocking things (though we do have some restockable items planned soon).
also dude we had some restockable books for january (minion books) and february (experiements). WE DO LIKE SOME RESTOCKABLES I GUESS.
also that wearable thing: you'd have to git a looooooot of old items to be able to get special ploty things. We have to balance it to where the items aren't losing their value to where people who spent a crazy amount of points during the event/activity/plot but still get new users/people who missed the event a chance at them. That's pretty hard with clothes.
We are trying to get revamps in with each of the themes. We had some minion revamps in January, February we got the zapper revamped (I don't think any of the pets did though but we did get some new ones?), this month the tree got revamped. Next month there will def be some item revamps + pet ones :X
hahahaa. Yeah, I want to go through and do more retirements from the Clothing Rack and Accessory Bin. I was slowly clearing them out. TIME TO GO BACK AT IT. Make them still available via vending or something dumb.
Those are going to be apart of the sP sink I mentioned a bit ago. We are going to make it where you can buy the collectable items from old plot things and events (like pirate/islander/cruise/etc). That includes stickers, books, plushies, foods. :) Again, we are looking into another way to release the clothing and minions. We don't want to rerelease points for those things but we do want to make the items available again so people can complete collections.
We are releasing Cherry/Silver pets every few weeks though? We’ve been doing them between holiday colors (Steamworks, Graveyard, Sweetheart). They are good things to release between that so pets are always getting some type of attention. Like I’ve also pointed out, next month will get some pet love too. Regarding wearables — people have constantly been asking for new hair styles in multiple colors. I see more suggestions for that on the forums over ankles or finger items. We’ve also been asked multiple times for more flats on site — that’s why those recent flats go so many colors, like way more than what we usually do for recolors. We weren’t going based of what CW things have been released, we were going off suggestions from our users.
As far as achievements that drop off early — do you mean the actual achievements? I was in the SB earlier asking for things I could add more tiers to (and beanbags/plushies were suggestions) but they were also talking about prizes within the collections. So I just want to be clear as to what you are suggesting — do you want more tiers or more prizes when you hit a certain level?
As far as I'm aware, no. I'd really like to take all the stock and use them as prizes for stargazer (which is going to be revamped to be really cool ugh i can't wait guys seriously).
That'd be a good way to get those minions out for sure. I'm not completely sure how but I'm sure we could think of something cool.
Oh yeah, I have more tiers on my list of things to do! I want to add titles too so you guys get something cool for hitting so high. If you have suggestions for tiers on other achievements, let me know! I know people want new achievements isntead of just more tiers to things, but I don't mind doing both!
I kind of want to add more prizes to each too, though. I think plushies goes to 500 right now? That's silly haha.
Yeah, I think I'm going to update the plushie/beanbag pages tomorrow and see if I can add some more prizes. :) Also add two more tiers to each with cute titles.
I like hearing the feedback from users and especially when everyone is being upfront and relatively pleasant. :D It's hard not to spoil every little thing that's coming up to be like GUYS WE REALLY DO READ YOUR FEEDBACK I SWEAR. I really think the themed months have been helping because agian, we've been helping neglected features (and setting them up to where more things can be added, ex: trash can). We have some other neglected features being worked on to update soon (delphi museum). We're trying to get items out for collectors of all things (books, minions, foods, stickers, beanbags, whatever). We're trying new things, like that riddle feature with the Millionaire Center, that'd we like to do other places too.
Like more tiers added to the BHH achievement? omg have you gotten more than 250 items
Yeah! I’m glad it’s been super popular too; not only do we get new items random places but we also get some sort of revamp. It’s great for the artists for downtime between holiday stuff too, so they have an idea of like hey i can do themed things for this when i get tired of doing a billion flowers for vesnali or whatever. I really like how the puzzle thing worked out too and would love to do more things like that!
I could do a title for one of the tiers maybe but I’m a little hesitant going back and adding in prizes/titles for ones that have existed for a while.
The reason we don't stock weapons is because they'll be useless. There is no gap or real position that we can add new items that are interesting or unique, and have them restock (which means in tier 1-6 or whatever). It just doesn't make sense to add a bunch of weapons that are just not actually going to be used, and will just be quest fodder. I guess I just don't see the value in that.
I do agree, though, that we can do better on other collectable areas of the site. We actually made a push on this with the quest prize shops (and things of that nature) which I feel like are typically pretty balanced. They aren't in the main shops (and we're moving away from that anyway) but they are a good mix of high quality items. More of that, I think!

There are a million tier 1-5 items already, that's the thing. We've filled all the gaps, there just isn't anything interesting we can release that isn't just a copy of another item. This has been discussed to death elsewhere, but if we started Subeta again today the battle system would (obviously) be entirely different and have a lot more room for interesting items. Unfortunately that just isn't the case :/
Because putting items in event shops (or quest shops, or shops that require participation) == far greater participation than putting items in the main shops. Users who purchase frequently from quest shops are users who spend more time on site, and since we introduced the quest shops (and quest points) we've seen a sizable bump in the amount of time and quests people do on the site daily.
Restocking is a relic of the "well, what can we take from Neopets" days that I don't think actually makes a lot of sense on a site like this. I'd much rather see shops where you have to do things to get the items, more prizes from games, and things like that than just putting items in the main shops. Obviously restockers disagree with me there, but that is the direction we're tending toward.

Or we make it so that shops have continuous stock that doesn't go down (except the occasional rare item) when things are purchased and shift users making sP to other parts of the site vs their shops, or make earning sP from shops come from getting items from elsewhere.
An example of this is that would be loot from minion battling. If you wanted to sell the items that you get from minion battling, you'd make a lot more sP from people who either aren't interested or haven't gotten to the level that you've got to. Or haven't been able to "run into" the minions that you've been able to find. You'd be selling items that are unavailable otherwise, and making more sP.
Another example is if we built a system where you send your pets on tasks and you can only have your pet do one thing at a time, or have specific types of foraging/creating they do. You'd be selling items unique to your pets profession instead of items that anyone can get from a shop.
Those are (example) experiences we are trying to move toward. More game-y. I hope that makes sense!

Like I said, I appreciate that it's a "this a thing that I like to do" argument, it's just not something that most users like to do. Very few users restock, most items are now bought straight from the main shops during questing. In the last six hours
That means that at a peak-ish time on a Saturday we are getting WAY more main shop purchases just from the shop search. 5,000 purchases in shops themselves is still a lot, but it's not really something we'd build additional features or lots of items around, and that number has been steadily going down.
Haha, no. Those were examples :) Minion battles is obviously closer to something we're doing, but we haven't started / worked on a foraging system.
How often do you restock now?

Actually, lets get some answers! I've created a new feedback form for restocking :)
💖 ✨ 🤗
THE FEEDBACK FORM WORKS NOW. Those were the questions being fixed to have actual scales instead of the old scales.
The people on this forum (feedback) typically are way more vocal than most users. Already the feedback coming in paints a different picture. 70% of people so far have answered 1-3 on the how much time question. I'll obviously be interested to see it progress over the next few days.
Data just paints a different picture of the number of users who restock, so while I feel bad for making changes to a system that there are users who have an attachment to and really enjoy, it's just not something that most users participate in.
I never said we were removing main shops.
💖 ✨ 🤗
For sure, I think that this will be pretty unscientific except for the boxes where you can write in things. Those are always interesting (... a lot of users answering BHH for "what shop would you like to have more stock in" right now... sigh)
We also have our google analytic tracking data that shows what pages on the site get the most traffic, and how they funnel there. So it's absolutely possible to extract when people go from shop -> shop search -> buy item in same shop from step 1. I'll set up that funnel tonight and start tracking data from it, that's a really good point !
