I think it sucks that people who've kept their skin since 2009 are no longer "special" but I also understand why it didn't make sense to keep it that way anymore. I suppose it'd be nice if those remaining few had gotten a special title, item or achievement as a reward for "hold out" so long, but opening up the Den etc to all zombies and all skins makes sense.
I'm really happy that they released all the old strains. Up until a few days ago I was only a 2010 Butterfly Bruise. I didn't want to lose my BB because of what it means to me.(loves butterflies and moths IRL) I stayed a zombie because I wanted to, not for the old privileges or to feel like a special snowflake. I personally have no problem seeing new butterfly Bruises out there and hope they enjoy it just as much as I have over the years.
I always loved the past survival events but always felt left out as a zombie. I love that I'm able to take off my skin so I can get infected and watch my virus progress. Feels really weird though seeing human skin though after all this time.
I liked that the zombie strains came back. I had a lot of the older ones, but cured for other site things like costume contests and what not so it's really nice to see them out again.
I am so glad they released the old skins for everyone. I've been able to get 3 skins, 2 new, 1 old (current) and might go back for another one :D Really happy that Survival has lasted this long. If you were an old school zombie, then you kinda already had the privilege of the zombie den for a good few years while others didn't (not to mention a cool ass skin)... it might suck that there's no way to tell if you were an 'original zombie' now but I guess that if you care that much you could stick it in your forum signature or on your profile.
Im glad to read this thread, and the mostly positive thoughts from veteran players, I've been here for about 3 years now, and I'm always awed when I see someone has been on site for a long time, whatever the state of their skin lol. I expect over time, there were less and less zombies, and they needed some 'new blood' literally. Im over the moon to have gotten a couple of skins, thanks What I do love the most is the diversity now, everyone looks different, and interesting.
on the one hand "oh no muh elitism" but on the other "yaaaaas now i don't have to lust after a new skin and nearly cure every year only to stick with my 2009 skin in the end anyways"
i mean, since i started pretty early in the event i was able to get 3 strains so far. if there's time after my dolly dreadful completes i may even be able to pick up a fourth.
that (the ability for any user to get as many skins as that user is capable of), in addition to the fact that the old shopping service threads will no longer be a requirement to keep the older items in circulation, is a huge boon and can only be good for the community.
plus, the handy dandy (now retired) achievement titles are a nifty plus that people new to the skin won't be able to get.
tl;dr - i will always be in favor of the rerelease of old stuff that is 100% not ever at all attainable to newer users so long as it is not something someone has to pay CSC for.
