panda's trip to Hawaii made me check the produce department here, occasionally during the winter when they ripen there are spare fully ripe pineapples that have escaped canning available and there they were. So yummy. One of my friends had never eaten fresh pineapple before.

This is the first time I've tried to open one using a ginsu-style sawtoothed knife. So much easier on the rind, not so useful on the core or the berries so I had to also break out some regular knives to do the whole surgery.

OMG..... This game is awesome! And my team is winning! I hope they keep this up! Go Broncos!

and , , : I am so glad that the My Little Pony Football men won their game. I may have eaten way too many chips though, I was stress eating. Weldon had to take the bag out of my mouth twice and remind me that the chips were inside and to not dip the entire bag in the guacamole.

I forgot they were playing, but I would have been cheering them every trot of the game.

: It was a fun game to watch. Lady GAGA sang the National Anthem, Cold Play, Beyonce, Bruno Mars did the Halftime Report Show and sang a lot of songs that I didn't know, but I really liked them and there were no wardrobe malfunctions. All the living Soup Bowl MVPs ( mostly voracious persons ) were there including Broadway Joe and Joe, the owner of Montana. I was impressed with the football pants too.

What is the lair? It's not a cult, nor is it elite or have a set of standards that you have to meet to join. The only rule I have is no matter what a members beliefs, sexual orientation, race, creed or colour may be, everyone understands that they are as welcome as you are. It's fine to disagree but tolerance is the lair's word of choice.

I get that the world isn't all unicorns and rainbow farts.. that's reality, not here. I don't like cliques, I don't like flaming, I don't like being uncomfortable posting somewhere because others on the thread act like jackasses for no reason that I can see. In the lair you're safe. It's a place where anyone who wants to come hang out is welcome. The core of the group and I met during a Masquerade way back when it first started. We hung out while gathering flowers too, and when that came to an end, we used comments to stay in touch. When groups were introduced, I made the Lair and since I firmly believe you can never have enough bears, we quickly morphed from being in Laurie's Lair to Lair Bears.

We talk about everything. If someone has a question, we'll do our best to find the answer or someone who can answer it. We organize lists to help with event achievements and what-not, ect. ect. ect. You can be a chatterbox, you can say hi and lurk, or you can be quiet as a mouse - cuz in here anything goes ^^

Wow, my train of thought totally went off track.. anywho.. that's what we are, what it means to be one of us along with a whole lot of info tossed in the mix.

I don't have a saw-tooth knife but did cut up a fresh pineapple in order to wrap chunks in bacon and put them in the oven for the half time feast. I had no idea just how much work was involved in that process, I might have to look into getting a knife that can actually cut the edges off before trying anything like that again.

ZOHemGee did we over-do the half-time foods. Doritos, tortilla rounds, bbq chips, plain chips, crackers, cheese & meat tray, lil' smokies wrapped in bacon, fresh pineapple wrapped in bacon, queso dip, guacamole dip, salsa, french onion dip, cream cheese dip, sloppy joes, hot wings, soda, beer.. I ate tooooooo much

Your half time food sound wonderful. Never thought of doing pineapple like that will give it a go. And I just use a sharp knife for the edges, nothing special.

-ie Zach asked for lil' smokies wrapped in bacon last christmas - he said Nana they are my two favourite meats and someone put them in the oven and baked 'em! (lil' smokies are bite sized sausages here in the states) so I investigated and yup, you wrap 'em, sprinkle a bit of brown sugar over the top and bake them and man are they good. High in calories, totally not good for anyone watching their cholesterol and ta'die for xD

Not to be out-done, my daughter hinted the other day that she heard that people were wrapping fresh pineapple chunks in bacon too so I decided why not, not like I didnt have tons of help. Those were even better, YUM!

But the mess from the pineapple was a bit of a surprise. The delicious smell a fresh pineapple fills the room with made up for it tho.

Mess from a pineapple?? What were you doing, shaving it??? I just cut the top and bottom off, then slice off the skin and tidy up/ cut off any bits that still might be there. Scrap the cutting board clean of the bits that always seem to come away and then cut into bits. There is a bit of a juice on the board when I am finished but not really a mess.

-ie Yep, we made a mess and I did the same thing y'all do. I cut the top off and cut down the sides which made a huge flower then with fingers covered in juice thought I should try to core it which didn't work real well. Thing is my handy helpers (Nica and Kenzie) thought the flower looking thing was awesome so I left that on the counter and took the peeled part and sliced, diced and trimmed the core away then wrapped it in bacon. I had pineapple from one end of the counter to the other by the time I was done xD!!

It's the coring I do not do. I cut from outside to core. Maybe you could find a pineapple corer like they have apple ones. But still sounds lovely. I could make a meal of that.

-ie Sicca had tried them before and didn't want the hard core part left like the ones she had, spoiled kid! LOL! They were wonderful, I must admit, nummy enough that I totally went off book meal wise tonight. I know I'll pay for it tomorrow but man was that some good eatin'!

Nitty gritty. How big were the bits of pineapple and did the bacon cover it all or half or what??? I figure it wrapped all the way around and how hot an oven and for how long?
