Stay safe , my daughter's neighborhood is surrounded also. She said no way out, the highways are closed? So far they haven't been flooded but the streets near are.
Can you get out if you need to?

Yes it is going to be hard to recover. The repairs statewide will be so costly. If only Ca. could get some of your rain, where i live in the Central Valley we are always in drought. Our wells are drying up and we have to go deeper and deeper for water. And yet the people here have no clue on how to conserve water if they even care.

Many places in Texas are desert, except around the Dallas area. There are probably other places here that arent desert. So it can get real dry, and then when it rains it soaks in. once in a while we get a good down pour.
Yes, all the highways and interstates are closed in various places, and there is no way in or out. Plus, all of south Louisiana has a 7pm curfew, and things are already shutting down through Monday, so we will be stuck in our homes at least until Tuesday. There are a couple stores nearby I can go to if we need something, but its pretty bad.
Nobody can get out. All the highways and interstates are closed, and most are flooded. Back roads are also closed in most places, and flooded over. It is very bad.
Here we got 15 inches on Friday, another 8 inches today, and the rain is still coming down. We are forecast for another 8 inches or so tonight. Might be more. But I will be glad when this is over. Bad thing is, EVERYDAY next week calls for rain.
I wish I could send some rain your way. I think a lot of people might end up leaving this area. Its going to be so hard to bounce back. So many people lost everything they had. There is no way the insurance companies are going to be able to help everyone.
I have been to Texas many times. Mostly around the Houston area, and Dallas. I know the area west of Dallas starts to get really dry and sandy, it is that way into San Antonio and westward. I think once you get past hill country, you get less grass and trees, and more sand and rocks. I want so badly to share some of this water with all you guys. LOL. The rain is still coming down. :(

I don't own a boat, but yes, if it were an emergency, I could get out by boat. There are boat rescues going on all over. THe National Guard has been here since yesterday rescuing people in different areas by boat, and other people who just live around here and want to help are volunteering and going out in boats to get people. My apartment complex is not flooded at all. I am watching the bayou behind us, and it is rising, but its not very close to the building, so I think it will be alright. I will let you all know if anything changes, or when the water starts receding.

I hope your building stays high and dry!

Me too. I think we will be fine. I have been praying since this started, and I believe that my family is going to be fine.

Sounds scary, everything shutting down till Monday. Do you have access to a boat during the day? Or is the water flowing to hard.... I hope you are on high enough ground and you will not have to evacuate, i just want you and your family to be safe! I will pray for you all!
Miss you my dear sweet sister Lena ❤ Miss you my dear Subeta sister Georgie ❤
We will be fine. We can get out by boat if necessary. But I don't think it will come to that. If I would have known before it all, I probably would have left to be safe, but this was a freak storm. it just came out of nowhere. But we will be fine. Thanks.

So scary, we had a flood in 2006. That homes and businesses were destroyed, yep even in the desert it can happen. It was called, once in 1oo year flood. Thankfully my house is on top of a steep and not by a body of water.
LOVE your HA image.
Scary. Prayers for your safety.
Snickerdoodle without cinnamon a gigglediddle??? Cute.
Hard to think of Kuk, the scribble hippotu as the vision of evil. I love scribbles. :)
allergy to cinnamon? I would try nutmeg or mace too. Cinnamon is my favourite flavour for toothpaste, mouthwash and gum. I would be at a loss without that flavour!
and Nice to see you both here.
Hello to all my friends, those I know and those I have yet to meet. I have been lax in my visits. I miss you all and the comfort of the lairbear corner booth very much.

They are calling this one the 500-year flood (once in 500 years). It is historical. Thank you. As I am also praying for you. THe water is starting to slowly go down. The rain has stopped for now. But there is more on the way. This rain just won't let up. I am ready to see the sun already.
