Oh no, the muffin man was a stranger. A stranger to be blocked. I did have a fabulous night with friends =u= Didn't get to sleep until 4:30am and not regretting that XDD I'm so happy I could sing but I'd wake them up D: Is there a good way to respond to the dreaded question "What do you do?" when you're currently unemployed?? .-.

O_O 6? For Three computers??? That's... Really weird.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww that is adorable XD Do you guys have like a regular brunch place?

Aw, that sounds really great :D Did you end up meeting the wife of that friend of yours yesterday? Or the day before? Where did you guys go last night?

Mh... I say I'm taking a year off and figuring out what I want to do next. It's a bit of an awkward question to be sure.

The muffin man is what I am now calling the random creeper who was all "I want ur muffin" rather than "hello" XDD I think I may call all random creepers that honestly XDD Hmmm between jobs does have a better ring to it than unemployed D: I mean I know it's a necessary question when getting to know someone, but yikes I don't want to answer it :P

My friend wasn't up for lunch yesterday, we were hoping to reschedule it for today but we'll play it by ear. ^-^ My other friends an I went to dinner at a burger joint, lovely fries, then drove around town before seeing the movie Deadpool. I haven't been 'up' long enough to actually go to the movies in literally years so it was a really exciting thing! Taking a year.

Why don't I combine the two. "I'm taking a year between jobs" XP

Just my boss. She's been extra annoying and overbearing, asking stupid questions, promising clients (who are being unreasonable) things that are difficult/impossible for us to execute, and generally not being nice to work with. I know it's terrible, but I've been imagining how happy I'll be to give my two weeks notice and leaving her stranded. I didn't think I was generally that petty :P

I'm crossing my fingers. It's not a big increase for me, in terms of pay/position, but it's in a way better location downtown, and the phone interview went really well :)

What's new with you?

I came home last night and jumped on subeta to de-stress. I worked a little on filled wardrobe (basically retail-therapy subeta style haha, saves my actual wallet.)

I'll definitely let you guys know if there is any news :)

Looks like you've changed, because dolly dreadful is on full display! I'm almost done blistered hearts, one stage left I think. Gotta choose what to do next after that :)

Yeah.. I wish I was the one doing the scheduling.. cause having that many people means there'll either be a few of us doing nothing, or getting sent home early :/ No regular brunch place, we've actually never been out for brunch together - I just thought it would be something nice to do since we haven't had any time together lately and we're both home today!

Where are you meeting these people?! Must be online to be so forward. My friend does a lot of online dating and tells me about some of these guys opening lines.. Too funny.

I know exactly how you feel. I felt SO good handing in my resignation xP

Haha, happy to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. I felt a touch guilty about being a mean person :P

How is your new job going? Are you starting to adjust?

I'm ok thanks. You? And thank you. I was about to change it, but I got lazy lol.

Yeah I just got on my computer to do some HW. I have two group projects going on. I logged onto our shared document and discovered no one has done any work. I'm just really over school at this point.

Ew, yeah, group projects suck in school. For some reason you always get paired with terrible people who a) take over everything and try to order everyone around or b) people who do nothing. What are you going to do? Do it yourself?

Haha no, you're definitely not alone. And you're not mean ;) New job is going okay. I had a meeting with the owner earlier this week and she wants me to do a little esthetics during the week as well. We talked for a REALLY long time and she made it out to seem like they went through a really big staff issue and got rid of a bunch of people and are trying to rebuild a team of people who are all invested and want to see themselves and the place grow. I felt a lot better after talking to her, but then I looked at the schedule for next week and we're SO overstaffed. I'm just not sure what to make of the place still. Good news though is that I really like all the front desk girls. The new girl is REALLY weird, but meh.

I'm well! I think I'm going to make a new HA with all the pretty Pandemic stuff once my virus is gone C:

I'm sure in this case, that will be welcome, since no one has done anything ;) Usually that annoying bossy person takes over the second the project is assigned and assumes everyone has to listen to thing. You're just getting things done so you guys have something to present :P

That sounds... odd. Kinda like she was making excuses to placate you. But if you're feeling better about everything, that's the important thing. And liking your co-workers is definitely important! What do you mean new girl - there's someone newer than you? What has she done that's so weird?

Well I hadn't said anything to her about feeling frustrated at all and she came and grabbed me and asked if I could chat for a bit and started off by asking how my first week was going, how I was taking everything in and whatnot. I think she recognizes that I'm epic and doesn't want me to go anywhere ;) And YES there's someone new. WHAT. She started on my like 6th day. She's a huge weirdo and I was training her. Figure that one out. She just has odd mannerisms. I can't describe it ;)

Well you are awesome ;) So hopefully that means she sees that and is hoping you'll stick around and maybe move you up the chain sooner than later. Are there any 'higher up' jobs there you'd see yourself in?

That IS odd. She's lucky that you have prior experience and know what you're doing. I can't see how someone who's been around less than a week should ever be training anyone :/ Huh - some people are just weird, I guess! Is she okay with clients?

The esthetics floor definitely needs a bit of leadership so I'd love to get into that.. and I'd REALLY like to do the scheduling because clearly the woman who does it now doesn't see how overstaffed we are and how frustrating it is to be sent home early when you're paid hourly and banking on certain pay checks.

She's good with them yeah, but comes from the Fairmont chain of hotels.. which is different from a spa. So the spa world is completely foreign to her. People are here to relax and unwind and she's almost very.. corporate? with them.

Being sent home early really sucks, especially when you have a commute. Are you at least getting more hours than your previous job? You were supposed to be full-time, 40 hours a week, right? It sounds kind of like they're over-hiring more than anything else. Why bring new people on, when they're not needed?

Maybe she's just nervous and still trying to adjust? If that's what she's always done with customers, she might just not have found her groove yet. Does she get along with all the staff, at least?

Yeah I'm definitely getting more than my old place. At my old job I was averaging probably 25-30 a week? And I think in my first two FULL weeks here I'm JUST shy of 80 hours total. I got sent home early one day. I think they plan on having me do a lot more client work than they make it out to be.. cause then they'd need to fill the void at the front desk if I'm doing clients. Who knows. I'll find out in a few weeks I guess.

She's very personable, yes. But just socially awkward I guess.

Sounds like you're pretty much hitting your hours then :O 40hrs is definitely full-time. That's probably an adjustment for you, if you're used to 25-30, I'd imagine. Do you still make time for the gym and other social activities? :P I'm thinking if I change jobs, I might have to cancel my gym membership, or at least choose one closer to my work, and go directly after.

Would you rather do client work or front desk?

I'm technically actually scheduled more like 45 hours a week.. but closing never actually takes the full time so they give you 1-2 closing shifts to make sure you don't hit overtime ;) But I'll be watching it closely.

And NO. I have NO life anymore. It's so hard. I still play dodgeball and curl, but hanging out with people on a work night is SO not a possibility anymore. I went over to someone's house after work on Tuesday and by 8PM I was falling asleep asking Nathan to leave, haha.

I went to the gym yesterday, today, and plan to go tomorrow... and ideally I'll be going on days where I don't work until like 10-12ish.. otherwise I'm also going to have to get rid of it 'cause it's just not worth it.

I'd like a combination of the two. If they're going to keep my hourly pay the same to take on clients I'll actually be making more 'cause I'll get tips as well.
