I think a few people here are confused as to how the sled and necklace work. We purposely made the team based items (the necklace and sled) participation prizes rather "you get this because you were on the winning team". This is why they show up on the homepage of the snowball fight, because it's something you personally work for. I've thrown 300+ snowballs which assures me I'll get the sled (team tobais 4life) at the end. We however did not show you guys the A special winter themed wearable that the winning team will get. If anything, the necklace will show up more on site as long as the members of that team throw the minimum snowballs required to get it because Dolly has more people on her team.
Also to answer the "what uses do they have" question: the sled is both a toy/wearable while the necklace is food/wearable. :)
Idk, I also think Tobias is subject to more dead weight on the last day as well, just because people will want the two extra prizes (and no extra snow on their faces for the time being).
I think Dolly got more supporters because people really like candy better and find her cuter (it's a mostly feminine userbase, after all), but unfortunately Tobias has gotten more people willing to work their asses off on his side. :/
When it comes to information, I think some people might be working so crazily hard because they might expect to get unannounced prizes for being a top scorer, which is something I wish was cleared from the get go.
Well Idk about the rest of Tobias, but I don't think it's fair to say, candy isn't making a dent just because candy has more members. I personally have thrown almost 16,000 snowballs, if that's not working my ass off Idk what is. I think there are a lot of Tobias people throwing snowballs like crazy.
And I chose Tobias just because team toy...I didn't even look at titles or prizes. I have a friend who did the same with candy. Plus I believe it was two days ago candy was in the lead LOL then we tied.
Dolly also has some extremely willing supporters working their asses off. I've thrown 14K+ snowballs, and I haven't even bothered to throw the past three days because honestly, I don't feel like sinking my money into this anymore. I know some others on Dolly have throw upwards of 10K as well. To say that Tobias has more willing people is inaccurate. Dolly has thrown a million more snowballs.
I feel like people on both teams are throwing like crazy, but the fact is that Dolly needs to throw about a thousand more snowballs than Tobias just to get one point, which makes closing the gap impossible unless every person on the team is throwing constantly.
Amber confirmed they're both not just wearables.
Well then yeah, in that case it's just poor planning. That's pretty disappointing. 😕
Maybe it should have been Dolly vs. Zuzu

Okay seriously why are you not on staff? That would have been ten times better, and a lot harder of a choice. O_O
I just wanna say that I totally support being told what's in the end game for these little event deals, and I really agree that I hope that's a trend that keeps going in the future. I think we all know when there's a large plot at hand that there will always be prizes at the end, but these little things are such a gamble and sometimes they're just cute (Tempest) and sometimes they seem cute but end up having prizes (SUmmer in Centrapolis which is spelled wrong but it's late and I don't feel like spell checking, or that Clean Up project). So I really appreciate being told before hand that "hey if you throw x there's this thing and a special wear for the winners and some other stuff you don't care about so feel free to toss a few balls and have a bit of fun and then leave the competitive pelting to the people who take this cereal".
PS: I joined the candy team because I find neither item overly appealing to my needs but I figured at least the necklace would be edible-- glad I chose correctly for once. Watch that bite me in the ass and the other team gets 57 books I FML over XD
Yeah I know, I'm on Dolly too and I'm well past the team score; didn't reach 10k yet, but the announced prizes and the length of the event dissuaded me from participating further. Still, depending on how things are on the last couple days aka how much of a dead weight Tobias gets, lol I may pick up more (:
It's probably not all that innacurate: even if we presume Tobias doesn't have as many people throwing over 10k snowballs, we have to presume their members are in general more active -- or else their average snowballs thrown per person wouldn't be higher than Dolly's :/ What we can gather for sure from the numbers is that Dolly has more freeloaders (we can only speculate as to why), who might not even be getting the food prize tbh (that would be so ironic haha).
But I have seen a few of my friends who are on Tobias' side and post crazy high scores, too. Edit: From this page alone I see some other people with crazy numbers, even above 30k :x
Well, if that isn't the million dollar question XD
[edit]
I'm SO anticipating this, not as much for the winning team (although maybe!) but for the top throwers ahaha.
True, but even so both teams are held to the same standards. The points are just the average snowballs thrown on either side which makes it as fair as possible.

In all seriousness, though I don't see a problem with anything. There is no achievement (and hopefully never will be) that requires you to feed EVERY food item on Subeta to your pet. Meaning this participation food item is not technically required for any achievement. And I really don't think it influenced the amount of decisions as you want it to influence. Literally almost any item in Subeta can be tied to an achievement in some way, if Subeta went along the lines of making sure items that had to be split between the userbase had to have no use then people would complain about their useless participation prizes. And if they sacrificed relevant items for the sake of hurt feelings we'd be complaining about the lack of lore and contuinity that staff promised us.

the real winner here c;
In all seriousness though, as the other posts have already mentioned, there are other things to consider besides it just being a food item, so it's not really fair to say Dolly has the "better" prize and as a result brought in so many more people. :s I think you're overestimating the number of people really going for gourmand. +1 food item doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. You don't need to feed all food items on subeta for the achievements. Getting to 5k is getting easier with time anyway (more food items being released).
Also, I LOVE the transparency involved. Throw x amount to get this prize saves a lot of doubt and time in the long run. Imagine throwing thousands just to be on the "safe" side, disliking every minute of it, and discovering you only needed under 100 to get the prize? Yeah, talk about unpleasant.
Blame the system. I'm only a victim.
VICTIM BLAMING IS NOT GOOD. @ introvert @ Arno
And of course those two items have ulterior motives. The candy cane is to lure clueless creatures and poke them/choke them to death. The sleigh is of course to slide along mountains and ooooh a road with cars. Hadn't seen that one coming.
Ahem, anyway. I am only wondering what both things are and the "retired" Melody items. They could be literally 1k sP junk y'know. [Edit] Lmao watch my answer then
Did you get your problem resolved btw? :O Are you officially on one team now haha?
A+ answers from a real winner. Obviously it's called Sugarcandy Mountain. What else does Dolly really preside over? And re: the sled, NOOO, that wasn't in the sleigh ride song. /cries
I filled a ticket and some people are working on it. I'm fine if they leave me with Dolly but I still feel awesome with both titles, eh eh.
I'm still with Dolly shrug
lol too bad we can't wear two simultaneously, you'd be a boss
Tobias traitor, you. :c /shaky fists
Step 1: Make passive aggressive post Step 2: ??? Step 3: ??? ??? Still waiting on the point of that ???
I feel like the retired items are going to be random Melody junk and the people that spent millions throwing snowballs are gonna not be thrilled. XD
Although I understand the frustration, I feel that the participation prizes should be shown beforehand. I joined Team Tobias because I preferred the sleigh to the necklace, and I'm sure people have joined Team Dolly for the opposite reason. There would also be people upset because they threw so many snowballs and the item that they got for participation wasn't the one they wanted. I like that Subeta is being transparent about the prizes and how exactly they work.
At the beginning, the reason why Team Dolly saw such a spike in numbers, was because they were winning. When people also look at the large amount of users on the team, they also think that it's going to be easier to win. It's too bad that that happened to the people who are genuinely trying hard, but I think that the average score system is also fair, probably fairer than the alternative of having one side with a bajillion players and obviously winning vs. one side with only a handful and losing. It means that everyone needs to be participating in order to benefit their side, which in theory seems fair.
Team Tobias is also going to be at a disadvantage heading into the last few days of the competition because people will see that the score is so high, but may not actually contribute which will hurt the team average. So there would be disadvantages everywhere.
With events, it's always hard to make it perfect but I like the theory of the scoring system. I just don't like how some people have been slacking off on teams, because I've sensed a lot of resentment around that.
(Just watch the retired Melody items be something totally not-desirable and have people flip.)
