I think it's fine as is but if it is possible to be turned off automatically when you block that person, perhaps that would be helpful. But that's probably not possible?
I can't say I've ever thought about this as a privacy issue, or that I've thought about it at all past "woohoo free csc!". I'm not sure if anyone would really be judging others or thinking "hell yes my friends are fantastic free csc".
I can't help but wonder if I put anyone down as a referral when I originally joined. I'm sure if I did, and they still play, they love me because man they must get a lot of free csc XD! Which, does lead me to wonder if there should be a cap on how much freebies the site is giving away.
Perhaps instead of just unlimited free csc it should just be like, if the user who was referred buys $10+ in csc then the user who referred them gets 100 csc for each transaction regardless of the fact that the other user maybe have purchased $10 or $50? I mean I know if I referred someone they got a free 950csc from this past bonus csc weekend which is really a free 2.7k for me + 950 for them (if they exist, I don't remember that was a long time ago) for a loss of $36 bucks on a $80 purchase-- that's almost giving away half your profits.
I understand to an extent where everyone is coming from, but at the same time who are you (you being general) to judge how I spend my money? What 'friend' tells you how to spend your money, or that you're spending too much? I'd take more offense to that than the site anonymously rewarding my referer (referee?)
Thank you for the suggestion. I just unfriended them but didn't know it was possible to block users here (I'm still fairly new to the site). I'll block them, but I'm not yet happy about buying CSC.
To be honest, when I get an event telling me that a user I referred has purchased CSC and I got some, I've NEVER thought "oh, such and such has spent LOADS on Subeta recently!" (and I only have one active referral, so I know who it is). Every time I've thought "Cool, free CSC", and a couple of times I've thanked them for it.
^^ This. Never once have I thought....wow, they're spending too much on csc!! I'm always like...yay free csc! xD
Then again, I've referred 10+ people so I never know who is buying it anyway...personally I couldn't care less what people think of my spending habits. It's none of their business even if I decide to drop $100 every single day - I made the money, I'll spend it how I like thanks! :) It's not like subeta is giving them your bank details so, whatever ^_^

My point exactly... even without the bonus weekend, it can add up to a lot. Of course I understand the system is much better now than before, when it generated free 500 csc upon signup (incentivizes cheating), but it can't not seem overkill to me.
I can't really think of any kind of solution, though, either.
I agree with the idea of batching.
There's a program I work with that requires confidentiality for one group of users even though some of the information needs to be available to another group of users on a constant basis. The information gets batched in groups of 3 (or more) before it's released so that it's more difficult to tell when and who.
I like the idea of releasing the csc monthly or in some sort of similar batch format.
