I'm having a very hard time believing any of this is true (What it says on that link).
Here is why:
A few years ago, I logged onto Subeta only to notice my account was frozen. Having no idea why that might have happened as I didn't remember doing anything to be frozen, I made a ticket to figure things out. Within a half hour an admin was talking to me about why I had been frozen. Turns out there were two reasons. 1, one-way gift-giving to someone who used the same computer as me. 2. I had two accounts. After hearing why I was frozen, I told the admin that the one-way gifting was because my sister uses the same computer and she hasn't been active on the site much lately which is why the gifts were all, one way. The admin understood that straight away and didn't question me about it twice. The second issue, the bigger one about having two accounts which is blatantly against the rules...that also got sorted out.
I told the admin that I didn't have two accounts but then I remembered how about a few months ago, I had lost my last account which used to be under "Cresenta' (notice my username now is Cresenta). The reason I lost my account is because I had to suddenly change my email due to a screw-up by my email service. My email was changed overnight and at that time I wasn't visiting Subeta everyday. What happened is I forgot my Subeta password and because my email had changed, I couldn't get the site to just mail my login info because I no longer had that email account and I couldn't SEE any messages being sent there. I also couldn't change my e-mail without logging into my Subeta account so I literally had no way to access it. This led me to making another account with a similar name, which months later was seen as a SECOND account.
When I explained all this to the admin, she immediately understood me and unfroze my account EVEN THOUGH it was my fault for not trying to (when I couldn't log into my old Subeta account) contact an admin right then and alert them of the situation and ask for their help instead of just making another account. When I apologized, she said things like this happen and it was no big deal. She also offered to let me choose which account I wanted to keep as I had been on one longer than the other and so had more stuff on it, more experienced pets with higher stats, etc.
Imo, an unfair admin would have never been so kind and helpful and understanding. And it's not even just in this case of having had my account frozen. Every time I can't understand something, I never hesitate to make a ticket because I KNOW the admins are super approachable and will take me seriously. A friend of mine had their account hacked on Neopets (I think) and as hard as she tried to get it back, no one even ANSWERED her help request. She waited months before deciding to just leave the site. Subeta doesn't do that. The admins here really work hard to make sure your site experience is great and do everything in their power to be fair. I'm talking about just their general empathy towards users (check out the bragging and complaining board, where some users have had expensive items that should have been locked in their inventory lost by a random event and admins have kindly replaced the items when they didn't have to, or when they decide to extend certain site events because the site was down, or when they actually read users' suggestions and use them to make changes to the site to make it all better for users).
What's the point of this wall of text right here? It's that this site and it's admins don't treat people the way the link suggests. Based on that, I firmly believe those people are simply telling lies we shouldn't believe.
Most people on Subeta are mostly fair. Try powepets to meet some real b.it. ches! :D
"steps will be taken before it gets that far would be even better. Even something as simple as what you just said (anytime anyone broke a rule and we had to give a warning we would always contact them privately, and always always explain exactly why we were giving them that warning and point to the specific rule that they had broken) would be excellent!" "ut assuring users (especially neurotic ones) that there is a safety net, and that their confidence is valued enough to point out how the safety net works to protect them, would be as valued as it would be simple to add."
The fact that you can talk to an admin and discuss why a warning was given is a safety net. And when you get a warning you do get a notification saying what specific rule you broke. I'm not sure what the problem is? No one in the last couple of years that I can remember has had a problem with the kind of stuff you're talking about.
I actually was unfairly frozen. So... Kinda rankles me to read the 'you must have been doing something wrong'. I wasn't. But someone was.
My middle sister's best friend (at the time) was living with us. She decided to be a sneaky cheat and create a secondary account. Her activities raised red flags, and suddenly all accounts under our IP were suspect. I plead my case as best I could considering I was freaking out, but they decided the Cheater and I were 'too similar' and my account was frozen, as was my sister's.
It was really rough on me at the time because I was going through a deep 'love of my life dumped me' depression and my sister and I were super active together. It was something fun we shared; we don't have tons of hobbies in common.
To make matters worse, several months later, they sent out e-mails to frozen people letting them know they'd changed the rules so multi-accounters would get an initial warning (instead of a first-time-freeze) and that their main was now free to use again. But since they thought our accounts were simply alts of The Cheater, my sister and I never got that e-mail.
We waited out our year. We made new accounts. Sis doesn't play nearly as much as she used to, but at least I've made new friends and have gotten pretty close to where I was before. My other sister even started playing, if not often. It's still a shame... I had been a member of Subeta for YEARS before my first account got frozen. I was a part of the Omen Islands event. There's a lot I'll never get back.

Those stories seem pretty suspect. I've been a member for almost 9 years, and my sister has been a member for almost as long. We've lived together on-and-off since moving out of our parent's house and going to/graduating from college...and despite all of the shared IPs across multiple states, visits home and sharing the family desktop, the times that I've logged in on school/work/public computers, etc, I've never had an issue with staff. As long as you're upfront with the admins (i.e. creating a ticket to address the potential problem head-on and letting them know that you live with or share a computer with another player), you should be fine. Subeta is really amazing when it comes to communicating with users and being as transparent as possible.
I think if you haven't done anything dodgy - there's really nothing to worry about here. I often use multiple ways to log in - home pc, friends pcs, sisters pc, work pc, my phone etc...sometimes I'm even logged in from two devices at once! (Just because subeta never actually logs me out of anything unless I do it myself - and I don't) I'd like to think that they know the difference between this and someone who is obviously scamming/cheating somehow. I got froze back in November 2012 just after I started playing and the staff were nothing but friendly, understanding and solved the problem quickly!
tl;dr - If your not doing anything shady, you have nothing to worry about :)

I use an ipat and an oldfashion PC and onley one account. This one. I never log in on an iphone or something like that. I think the staff on Subeta is reasonble enough to don't freese users directley if they seems some suspecious.
If you really the sucurety to avoid any kind of misunderstandings by you and the admins you could decide to log in alaways on the same IP adres of your computer. If you have got more housemembers who want also an own account you can send a ticket to tell this to te admin's, before an other house member of yours, create an accaunt at the same IP adres.
I logged in two and a half from my usual locale and filed a ticket, stating I'd be there for about a day and a half because my mom was in Hershey Medical Center and was just bought out of a medical coma. I had no problems with the staff, in fact, they were incredibly understanding about it.
I take any story like this with a few grains of salt.

All admins on Subeta are evil and enjoy watching us suffer, obviously.
But no really, I've never had any issue with sharing computers/IP addresses in the past when I had others living with me who also played Subeta. I think one time I filed a ticket like hey user so-and-so is living with me and we'll probably send each other things but nothing too crazy and it wasn't even an issue.
The only time I had a minor issue was 9 years ago, and I think the admin mentioned might have been behind that one. x:
The one time I had an account frozen here was when I /forgot/ I had an old account here, and I created a new one. This account has existed for a little over 5 years. I've been actively playing for three, so you can see why I forgot about my old account. BUT I got it worked out, and here I am. I have a warning now for it, but that was my fault for forgetting about the old one. I am a little bitter about that sometime because I'm one of those people, who, growing up, never got any bad marks for anything, but it's not a huge deal.
My mom plays subeta on the same IP address as me, and she does give me expensive gifts sometimes since she's a restocker and I'm not, but I've never had any problems. My dad plays sometimes too, albeit very rarely because he stays busy with work. Again, I never had any problems. I stay at my bf's house sometimes too, he has a subeta account, and I use subeta at his house. Again, never had problems. I play subeta on mobile, sometimes at my mom's work place when I have to stay with her on the odd occasion that there's a vehicle use conflict. Maybe I've just gotten complacent over the years. I remember when I was freaking out because we had to move across town, I was afraid they'd come after me because our IP address was changing.
Then again, I came here from neopets, which as I'm only sure everyone here knows, they do freeze people without good reason there, and are ban-happy.
Between the good experiences I've had interacting with staff here though, and the fact that I've never been questioned before after I notified staff of the people I'd be sharing an IP address with, I've gotten pretty brave I suppose. I'm confident though, that if my account ever does come into question, that staff will be fair and timely in responding to me, and we can get any issues cleared up without much trouble.

If I recall correctly, staff were NEVER that bitter or harsh.
[Way too many] years ago, my sister and I used to share IPs and got frozen once. I think it was because we were doing one-way gifting too much and not trading. We explained the situation and were unfrozen afterward. I will always give Subeta that, they will always let you appeal your case. No unfair bans.

Not to minimize anyone's bad experiences - I'm sure there are people who were caught by unfortunate situations and by no means I believe they're lying - but I love how this topic is slowly becoming a recollection of good, "fairness" stories about staff's work c:
Granted, I don't know how things were many years ago, or what were the standards back then, as I've only been a member for 4 years now. Yet, now I get this idea that I got 99 Subeta worries/complaints but getting unfairly frozen isn't one of them what is great xD
(But make sure to tell staff if you're sharing IPs, I guess x_x )
One thing that surprised me reading that is that the users don't like detailed pets. I... what? The pets are absolutely gorgeous, and that's one of the reason I've stuck with Subeta so long.
Idk, there's ways to contest a frozen account - FROM that frozen account - so even if something like that happened it'd be possible to unfreeze it. But I know of a friend whose brother uses the same computer (albeit a different browser) to access his account. They've never had a problem. And neither have I when a friend's used my computer to access their account.

How about a webcomic about villains stumbling around redemption arcs? Drop by:

I think admins are understanding if you just explain your case to them, and let them know if you use different computers for the same account, or if you have a sibling who is on Subeta using the same computer.
I've always found the staff kind and understanding. I play here on my computer using FF, my daughter uses my computer but with Opera, and when we visit family in AZ we both use my sister's Mac. I always send in a ticket ahead of time and let them know.
They've always been more than helpful.
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
I just wanted to add that I was unfairly frozen. I was devastated. I lost a lot on there. I waited a year and got a new account but I'm not going to be able to get back everything I had on there.
I had a really similar experience to you. I had been a member for maybe 4 years when my account got mistakenly frozen.
I do believe that admins here are extremely nice and helpful. But in my case they were not very understanding. -in-Sand

Thank you!
That's nice to hear!
