I'm a UK resident myself so for the most part Thanksgiving is something that happens. I know because the internet talks about it but I'm focused on Christmas. Though we do have Bonfire night.
Oh I got picked! Picking a theme for HAs? I saw it said theme/page... so I wasn't sure what "page" meant.
You choose a page number in the wardrobe using the 'all' option and we can only dress up using items on that page. We have to keep the items shown number to 100 but we can use any wig and face items to make it easier.
Hey everyone! My 'net has been uncooperative lately so I haven't been able to dress up but I'll see what I can do! Once I conquer this laundry monster..ha. :)
Thanksgiving-- I think originally it was just a celebration of Thanks for surviving and harvesting a good crop. It was a pretty bad situation and a lot died of sickness/starvation so successfully harvesting and establishing a little was a huge reason to give thanks. Of course that wasn't really Thanksgivig. And it wasn't official until Abraham Lincoln set it in place as a day each year to give thanks for what we have.
I know it's mostly American, but I love the idea of a day to think back and be thankful for good things during the year. Plus, my family usually gathers and that's always nice since we live far away. :)
I hope your net access get's better soon. I understand the idea behind it, we have the same here in the UK only we know it as Harvest Season. But the side of Thanks Giving I've seen is the video of the Black Friday Sales. I think that rather coloured my perception of the whole holiday.
Nice look. I love the hair.
Really love that wig! :D I'm sure you get lots of compliments on it :) It's so cool that your wig is similar to what it looks like in real life. :D
Ping me here and I'll kiss you back!
Black Friday has indeed ruined a beautiful thing. People are so materialistic and it just feeds that. And a lot of people no longer actually know or even pay attention to what thanksgiving is suppose to be. It's just a day to overeat, watch foot ball, and then go out and spend money that doesn't need to be spent just because "someone else might get it".
I've never seen the violence that is caught on some of those videos in person, but it does happen. It's sickening.
That said, I do go shopping on Friday sometimes. Hubby loves shopping and quite honestly clothing is so discounted (but not a huge deal like electronics to most people) that over the years I've saved hundreds of dollars on things I actually need.
So I am thankful for the money saved but hate the way people treat each other over a pile of toys or electronics that aren't worth it honestly.
I can totally see why it would color your perception of the day, for sure!
Really? Is it as long? I've always admired those hair styles where one colour fades to the other. I can never pull it off though. My page 9 seems to have the theme of blue but I quite like what I came up with.
It is very odd how people will do things like that. I personally think it's the experience of getting a good deal which causes people to do such odd things. None the less, its wonderful that those with less disposable income can get something special thanks to the sale in time ofr Christmas. If I'm truthful my main reason for being uncertain fo Thanksgiving is its all so big now it rather overshadows other things. I know about it thanks to hanging out on the net. But things like comics take time off for it or reference it. I don't mind if the artists want to take time to be with their families but I don't have the background to understand what they're talking about. Plus it's starting to feel like the UK is being pressured into joining in. ASDA, a supermarket over here that was bought by WalMart, now has a Black Friday sale. I'm happy to celebrate as much as anyone but it doesn't feel like one I should be joining in with when the focus is to try and get us to spend rather than the message of the holiday. Still, some good can come of it and I think WalMart was so underwhelmed by the Brits lack of understanding they might not try it again.
Really, the media/stores only care about money so it's no wonder. I have so many great memories of Thanksgiving growing up. Good food, family time, and just warm, cozy days. I think it's silly that they are trying to "force" black friday on you all. Walmart isn't my favorite place, but they sometimes think they own the world because they are "so big". Ugh. :P
They forgot that most Brits have no idea what Black Friday is. When I first heard of it I thought it was a reference to the black death! Most Brits just didn't show up for the sale. After they saw that I think they decided not to bother this year. Our sales are in January anyway. Still, I can understand how you want to hold on to those family memories. Those give more warmth during the winter that almost anything else.
My length isn't as long as I had to cut my hair (the dead ends were terrible!) but it's not much shorter. I do like it, I wanted a block colour on the end originally but the hairdresser talked me out of it, explaining this would look nicer and it really does.
Whenever you are ready, choose someone else to pick the next page or theme
