Right?
I have no issues for what Pete asks for, it's just randomly selected edibles and it's a game. I'm sorry it bothers some people but I don't really think this is something that needs a whole bunch of attention, especially if this has already been brought up before previously and shot down.

Thank you. That was my point. His pool and wording are horrible. All I'm asking is for a wording change or some other little fix to make this less of a gross-out factor.
:/ Unfortunately, yes, it was.
I'm not asking that the responses be tailored to items, but I do think they could have used a better choice of words for him. I don't feel that my requests are too reaching, as there are many ways to fix this.
Changing the wording, Being able to toggle the personality feature on/off, making him into a zombie (which could be done for Pandemic).
As for mimicking RL, as I was told earlier, we can't base anything on irl... but I'm also unaware of other cultures actually eating feces and vomit. :X But, again, I would rather not even think about it. My partner slipping me a beef heart burger when I was pregnant still makes me retch when I eat burgers.
See, thats my stance, as well. Why fight something that will make gameplay better for another group of people?
Actually, the thing that got shot down was removing items from his pool. I'm simply asking for some way to make his quests less disgusting, such as a minor wording change or the ability to toggle the personality feature on/off.

I get giggles from Pete eating poop! Yes, it's immature, but lots of things I do are mature, and Subeta doesn't tend to be one of them, so I like to keep my poop giggles xD Life is too short!
But, would you force your poop giggles on others? I honestly feel that giving users the option to view the personality/extra text would be the best route here. Those who like it can have it, those who are grossed out by it aren't forced to see it. Win-win.

The things people get offended over. I mean, really. It's a cartoon character eating cartoon poop. Like ????
Just don't read the text. It's that simple.
Nah, I'm just playing the site I was given and voicing support for the way it is :) No forcing from me! Sure, a change like that would be fine with me as long as it wouldn't bog the site down. It seems like they're trying to pare down on lesser-used features, though, so I can see why they might not.
And that may be fine for you, but its disgusting for others. Again, why do you get to choose why people do or don't see? What harm does the suggestion do how YOU play this game?? Is it really so bad that someone may be grossed out by it and ask for the OPTION to not have to see it?
We got to choose if we had our organs harvested and, "its just a game"-- why can't we choose if we have to read that text? Disabling it would prevent even an accidental reading of it.

Oh okay! I get what you're saying now. But honestly, despite how you might feel, I don't think this is something that time should be spent on to change if only because I feel like the users who have issues with it are in such a minority they should find a way to deal with it themselves. I'm not sure if there is anyway to CSS it out, or adblock it, or find some sort of extension to change Pete's text, but I'd try finding something that works. You shouldn't have to see something you don't want to see, but in this instance, I don't think staff should have to change it either.

How do you "accidentally" read something? Seriously. You either look at it, or you don't. Focus on the items, turn them in, and move on. It's very simple to ignore words. People do it every day.
I think the issue is more of a difference in size. Harvesting organs seriously made HAs, which are a huge portion of the reason people play, look horrifying. HAs are everywhere practically (especially for forum users) so disabling the ability to harvest made sense.
In this case its a tiny line of text that can easily be ignored.
A more simple option might be to just remove it from your viewing on your end alone. If you use Chrome, I can highly recommend the Cloak extension. You can use it to hide only that section of text (although I've just tested it, and it will also get rid of similar "thank you for these items" sections of text from all quests). I'm not sure if there's a similar Firefox workaround, though.
I think people here are forgetting that this is a suggestion/idea thread.. made for suggestions and ideas to make the site better or more comfortable people.
I like the idea of a disability feature the same way we have a bad-word one bc it's gross. Some people are very visual people and then can't get the images out of their heads. Pete can ask for gross items, I mean, he's a chef and I wouldn't expect any less. But to have the image of him eating brains or something can be really gruesome to a lot of people.
Some of the new messages, I find insulting and it kinda demotivates me from wanting to do quests. Unless you're Drills. THEN you can tell me I did a half-assed job. ;) Because I do quit 75% of his quests.
I support you bc ugh /gross visuals.
Thank you.
This thing is amazing. Thank you SO MUCH!! I'll be putting that in my first post to share with others who are just as grossed out about it as I am.

Why is everything such a serious fucking issue to some people? People are getting offended over every little thing, lmao. Can't take them seriously.
What's next, being offended about having items with spots because it's 'triggering' to some people and there should be an option to hide those things? How about grow up?
95% of the people with "disabilities" on here don't actually have disabilities. Oh no, start calling me names because I'm daring to say that you're full of it. Guess what, everyone gets images stuck in their heads sometimes. Everyone. You are not special. You can deal with it yourself. Go get off the computer or at least go to another site for a bit. Chill out. If you're getting that upset because an NPC says he is looking forward to eating something made from brains/shit/vomit, it is on you to deal with your own problems, real or imaginary.
It is completely on you to deal with your own problems. Too many people on this site go around saying they've got this and that issue which aren't legitimate and just demean people who actually have problems. It's insulting to see the special snowflakes on here who will do anything to pretend they're special and delicate when what they're experiencing is normal and easy to deal with.
No, we don't need a toggle option because you're a child.
This is Subeta. Earthian logic of 'shouldn't eat organs, vomit or poop' does not apply here.

I thought this thread was supposed to be suggesting something to help users with squeamish stomachs or just grossed out by certain concepts. Not lets all gang up on the original poster. I for one like the idea of changing Pete's wording as sink my teeth into some of the items he requests I personally find disgusting as well. Although I usually don't pay much attention to what it says when I'm questing. No one should be put down for their suggestions even if one finds it ridiculous.

A: Wow, this is a bizarre thread. B: We aren't interested in adding toggles to most major features on the site, much less little portions of text. That'd be a query every time you go to that page to see if you're interested in seeing that text and not only is that a massive misuse of our resources, it's just a bit silly. You can probably block it with customCSS or a firefox/chrome addon.

Coding something to disable quest texts would be a waste of time. Some of the snot and shit items gross me out, but it'd be silly to ask the staff to cater to my feelings and make viewing those items optional.
Alternate solution: ctrl + - to minimize text while questing for Pete.
Pete asks for odd items. And if no toggle, could his wording be changed to something less... blatantly eating feces, vomit, brains, etc?
I'm happy enough with the feature linked, but I also don't expect everyone to be aware of it. If there is no change to Pete at all, can we have that added into a sticky for users who are more squeamish?
