Not enough bleach in the world for retail work sometimes.

If I had to clean up someone's shit off the floor, I'd find the one who left it in the first place and make them clean it. Nobody gets paid enough to clean up after someone's explosive diarrhea or drunken puke.

What gets me about this whole Ebola crisis, is that flights and travel in and out of Africa aren't being stopped. Even parts of Africa that are currently "virus-free" may not be that way tomorrow.

Luckily we caught the person that smeared their shit all over the bathroom walls one day and made her clean it up...and boy she sure did fight us...

We never caught a few of the other offenders >.>

I know nurses/hospitals have to deal with cleaning up excrements on a daily basis, but they have the proper tools, disposal and sanitizing methods. And they aren't being paid minimum wage, like I was at the time.

I'm talking about working in a retail pharmacy by the way. My friend worked at Target once and told me a few horror stories.

It's her shit, she's got no reason for bitchin'. I'm sorry that you've had to deal with such idiotic customers who've gone and done things like that. It's horrible of people who don't take ownership of their mess. x.x

Thank you :) I know that most people are good and have respect, but the bad ones are BAD lol

The main reason I bought it up in this thread is because so many people around the web are saying how difficult it is to come into contact with bodily fluids on a daily basis.

I've come across every single bodily fluid working at a damn drugstore...and not just in the bathrooms... Millions work and shop in retail, and I know the incidents at the stores I've worked at can't be isolated.

It's incredibly common! I get sweaty hands occasionally because my psych meds elevate my body temperature higher than normal. And in the summer, people are busy runnin' around, swimmin', walkin' into stores with grubby, dirty hands...ICK.

People sneeze; wipe sweat off their body with their hands; touch their eyes, mouth, nose, ears; chew their fingers; pick at something and proceed to smell their fingers immediately afterwards.

I witnessed at Panera, a guy unconsciously just sticking his hand down his backside into his pants for like, 2 minutes straight before pulling it out and ordering some food.

I don't work, but I go to a community college and have seen what cannot be unseen regarding humans and their disgusting habits. I've even stopped a girl who got done in the bathroom and nearly walked out without washing her hands. She wasn't pleased with my intervention, but I glared her down 'til she washed her hands to MY standard (30 seconds normally, 60 seconds if nails are long).

Yeah..I've had to clean up vomit at work before. And in only working at a different locations for 3 months, I witnessed children peeing themselves 3 different times, and then was around when someone discovered feces in a corner of the store smeared all the way down a back aisle.

Don't even ask me how many times I've seen bloody tampon applicators left on the floor directly below the provided wastebin, or grown-ass women leaving the bathroom without washing their hands. People are disgusting, it's a wonder we've made it this far as a species.

I agree. I love the ones that act all nasty when you confront them and say "Oh, well being exposed to more germs like mine is good for your immune system."

That's like telling someone that farting in their face is going to make their sense of smell stronger. I'm sorry you had to deal with the grossness as well. I know accidents happen, but when that's the case the parents or person themselves should clean it. Or at least offer to help :/ I mean, at least apologize

I don't think people realize how much washing their hands helps. Soap and water kills so many germs and diseases on contact. Oh man, don't you just hate those unnecessarily long nails some women have? Like the ones over 3 inches; that make you wonder how they wipe their ass without attaching the toilet paper to a spatula or something? LOL

I never have understood the appeal for those really long nails. I don't know how anyone can make sure they don't break! xD But if farting in someone's face did make sense of smell stronger, that would be a very interesting development. I'm fortunate, I can't smell farts. |D

Back to the entire Ebola debacle, unfortunately, the fact that it made it here to the stats does not surprise me. I wouldn't say we've grown stupider as a species so much as becoming more complacent, thus being unprepared when the perfect storm arrives.

Part of me is strangely okay with this though. I strongly believe nature culls the weak for the better or worse of any species. If it simply meant to be, then so be it.

Good point about the complacent thing. The media hype hasn't helped over the years either. It's like the cry wolf story. SARS, The Bird Flu, and the Swine flu were supposed to kill us all. Like the regular Flu, they were mostly fatal to the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

They didn't kill us.

And now we have something with a really high fatality rate regardless of age, and no one thinks it's going to kill us...because the other hyped diseases didn't.

I do believe in the 21 day quarantine. I'm afraid that it won't be enforced however, because that one nurse had to go and sue two states; claiming that her human rights were violated.

Oh well. Whatever happens, happens. XD

Yup, H1N1. A lot of those wouldn't have come about if people, oh I dunno, WASHED THEIR HANDS after handling animals. I do all the time, even with my own pets.

I heard about that nurse too. What a moron. Money is clearly more important than your own life or the innocent lives of others. -_-
