Why didn't you tell me? I can help you with that.... >.>
No, and in fact she's only out in the yard when i'm supervising her because she would totally dig under the fence or find some way out. But if i had a goat living back there all the time, she'd never get to go out and play in the yard either (the front yard isn't an option because it's not fenced and she would run away to chase cats). I'm just concerned because i know some people who had goats and Labs and the Labs attacked the goats and killed one of them, so i don't know if i could trust her in the same space with one.
You can start with supervised visits, but can goats stay outside when it gets cold? Zelda might actually like having someone else around.
She might, and they might get along great, i just didn't want to actually commit to adopting one before finding out for sure. It would be kind of late then to find out it's a bad situation. And yeah i think if they have a shelter to go in they'd be all right; i'd have to do more research to be sure of what they need, but i had sheep and they were fine because they had a barn to go in if it got really nasty out. Like, i wasn't really prepared to actually have a pet goat right this minute though, my friend is just a lot more sponaneous than i am. I just got a text that said "Hey i'm getting you a goat!" :P I guess it's ok as long as he's going to live over there though...
It sounds like a fun DIY!!!! Use wood pallets and some hay and insulation. Some paint and you have a place for oatmeal!!! I would totally help you if I was your neighbor lol
Fortunately i already have a shed that would probably work, i'd just have to put the junk in it somewhere else. I don't even know what the law is regarding keeping goats in my city though; it's probably allowed but i'm not sure. I also know it would be better to have at least two (they're herd animals, they're happier in a group) but i guess there's just the one. Well, i'll see how it goes...she hasn't actually picked him up yet and i don't even know for sure it's gonna happen, but when she sent that text she made it sound like a done deal. XD
LOL so technically you are getting Porridge and then need an Oatmeal. You can then have baby goats and sell cheese and milk in the Farmer's Market.. damn that sounds like a ton of fun!
so I want to visit new Orleans.
aaaaw, goats are so cute! I would totally get a pet goat if I thought I was responsible enough to take care of one XD
Yah New Orleans! I've always wanted to visit too. The Latin Quarter looks like a good time.

Let's go! I really want to go! I would also like a ton of beignets.
Porridge lol Nah i don't think i feel like raising goats or running a dairy or cheesemaking operation haha...i already got my taste of the farm life when i owned acreage a few years ago. It was fun, i'm glad i tried it for a while, but it's not the life for me. Even though baby goats are absolutely THE most adorable things in the entire world. :P But i'd be looking at like two at the most, not breeding them (would probably be against the city code anyway), just keeping them as pets (and lawnmowers lol).
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! get off the stage!
Yeah I mean I have never had goat milk or cheese but sounds like a fun and hard working "hobby"
XP I don't think a hobby ought to be that much work. Because then it's just "work"...hobbies are what you do for fun when you AREN'T working. :P lazy
hobbies can be fun and hard work! You know like goats and gardening lol
Part of the reason i want goats is so they'll do my gardening for me! lol
Well that is a plus but I want to feed myself with my garden... essentially I want to be when i grow up!
Well at some point i'd like to be able to grow some veggies too, for sure! But first i need my yard cleared because it's overgrown with thorny crap. And i don't want to deal with it, but a goat would be happy to gobble that all up. :P
You should totally get goats and post a million pictures of them so we can live vicariously through you :D
Yaay urban gardening. I still have a few beets left out there.
[tot=bapkate]
That is practical!
Can you plant anything during the winter?
If i do end up getting goats i'll post pics! Goats are super cute. Mmm beets! I would definitely grow those if i had a garden.
