@ kraken Aw I shall, don't worry! I did a bunny yesterday but it's a hybrid cw/trad art so it came out rather... wonky. I'm going to redraw this tonight with thinner lineart & softer shading. I'll make a mental note to show you! Also, I don't even know how to draw ankles (or feet... or hands... or poses for that matter... like nothing at all LOL) so I'm starting from scratch! (ps we never did this collab! We should totes do it! ;D )

@ odduckOasis actually nope, never really! I did a bit of digital art during my neo era and it was... okayish at best. Then I hopped into cws! People never really understood when I told them that I wasn't an 'artist' per se. I learned to draw by repetition only, but I have never had a strong, complete knowledge of what I do out of sheer practise. I cannot for example understand how cloth really flows - I just know from practising that it folds here and there, but I'd be damned if I had to practise drawing a sheet on the floor because it's pure mystery to me! (I'd super love to get critiqued! n_n) And also we still havd to do this collab, I won't budge on it!

@ past thank you so much dear! You know, I still remember that snake hair I drew for you - one of my alltime favorites because the shape of the curls is unlike my usual. And when you asked me to draw a -snake- i thought I was going to have a meltdown. I'll try to draw you a snake overlay at some point (:

It started a long time ago and you know, sometimes ive questioned whether I was sticking too close to my original style - as if I should've considered shifting to an entirely new style. But I guess i was able to fine tune it over the years either way n_n I'll be (hopefully) opening an art shop at some point! Nothing very complicated at first (adoptables, ready-made chars) but that's a start! -- I am actually drawing a bunny (which needs to be redone because it's ew) but I'll likely post it on here during one of the event pings, just for the hell of it!

I'll definitely still be doing backgrounds though, to practise depth/perspective! n_n And random cws here and there (; I'd like to try pet overlays sometimes (and adoptables / ready-made chars)! I need a sort of goal that is tighter than just 'drawing in general' otherwise I'll quickly get depressed over sucking at art and crawl back into cws LOL

Yes, no budging on the collab! It will be epic! What chat do you use? Skype or AIM? (If Skype, I'll have to get it... prolly should anyways, aim can be a bit of a butt lol). Might be easier to talk and such and help you with your art when I'm around. =)

Also- for reference, I did a hands tut, a feet tut and an anatomy tut (tho that one needs to be desperately updated, the artstyle/work is soooo outdated! lol). But- it's something that's simple and has (apparently) helped a lot of people, esp beginners, so I hope that can be of some assistance. Don't worry, the beginning can be a bit frustrating, but you have a pretty good basic knowledge- and repetition can set the stage for learning just as much as anything else. You do a good job at faking it. ^.~

Yeah, BG's are great practice for that. For everything really, it's why I have so many WIPs that won't be finished, ahaha; but BG's can have so much that it can push you better. I set a goal for myself, two separate ones. Draw at least one non-CW a month and draw certain CW's by certain times. And I keep adding to my dang list. I think a better one would be "draw something from x animal family" each month, or every two weeks ? A lot of mine are more human with a few others riddled in there.

I think you nailed it by CW 3, and as you said, it has been refined since then after all. :) It looks fantastic, and it's really cool to see your work and recognize it as yours. If you progressed that quickly on CWs, then I'm sure your regular art will be up to scratch in no time. I look forward to seeing your shop, even if it may be awhile! And the bunny! :D

@ Cathii Oh, I totally know the feeling. I'll forget the passage of time all the time when I'm totally focused on drawing. I haven't drawn as much as I would like lately, like last year was so sparse- but this year I want to really try to draw more! And no worries, we can chat as we go, most times I'm only one sparsely during the day anyways since as soon as I get on my comp when my son is awake, he wants to sit on my lap and watch a movie. lol.

I like your plan to push yourself. And I hear ya on bgs. I should try to work more on my own. I can rather do stuff that is not symmetrical, like landscapes, but things like cities and such can be such a pain for me! So it's good to always work on "stretching" our skills. Good for you!

Yeah when everyone was already hyped about having custom art we were like: lets make a bold statement colour that no one will ever think off. Thing is: after all these years I've never seen anything remotely like it in colour scheme. I still feel like you should give it a go, end where it all began.

I know you for like 7 years now? And ever since you started showing me art and you kept telling me you couldn't do things I was the one saying that you could. Remember when you said you wouldn't get a single cw on site because your art wasn't good enough? YOU REACHED THOUSAND.

Most certainly a good idea ! I consider the CW's to be the "smaller" and want to work on those about once a week (ahaha, seeing as most are backgrounds how is that small?) and then my non-CW's as once-a-month big pieces. Just be smarter than me and don't write down so many. Aside from work I have no life, though. I've only posted two more recent pieces, since I've stopped after sketches/halfway through painting. Which is what has motivated me to push more, I need to grow and actually finish stuff.

It's gotta be done ! If I want to be as good as you two, I need to be more diligent. I'm the same, put something in front of me that's inorganic and consists of straighter lines and I will be very, very confused. But I'll go to town painting a field, ocean, river, etc. I've been saving a lot of inspiration images for BG ideas and about 90% are forests.

aw that's really nice! I've never understood how to draw a skull - the best I ever did was pick a ref, stare at it, attempt to draw half of it and then copy/paste mirror it to do the other side. My friend said it looked cool but that she wouldn't be able to figure out what kind of animal it actually was because it made no sense lol

2 years of doing commissions have helped me though. Even when I have a long list to do, my brain is trained to do things anyway - regardless of the mood. I find creative work harder in that sense because I need to dig in my own ideas. Whereas if it is someone else's idea I can just put aside every other feeling and draw it anyway to slowly cross out the list!

You probably lost them because they were from before your computer crashed. (The crash that made you lose those bagged flower skirts as well) I would be happy with anything in that colour, just for old times sake :D

I love water! So I hear ya. Things that just flow and don't have structure are way easier, but again, I also have no patience for small details. I have to figure out how to make it more therapeutic I think, cuz sometimes I just get like "GAH THIS IS TAKING FOREVER" lol. But yes, the only way to get better is to actually do it! I also need to get better sleep so I'm not like, so tired all the time, that's also a big factor into my motivation. My brain (and heart) are like "DRAW TIME!" but my body and the rest of my brain is like "SLEEEEEEP" lol.

Also, haha on the Huffle crests. xD The Catrina portrait is good too. One thing I see a lot, esp in beginners- is they're afraid to shade darker. I would suggest that you do some shadow studies (fine some photos w/ dark contrast shading and ref from it)- it really helps, esp cuz shading can be such a biotch. lol.
