"Why, hello there dearies...do come in, come in now, and close the door behind you....sit, sit! Yes.....I am Professor Merilda, I expect you have heard of me. My prowess with Charms is very well-known! Although, you might have heard the whinging of that great oaf, Vygar...fool looks ridiculous in that hat......on the subject...I have the grades for your Astronomy Essays. Slytherin took that assignment, 43 points.... Hufflepuff in second, 33 points.... Ravenclaw third, 31 points..... And Gryffindor, 24 points. I believe that two students, MasterSir and Frost, were awarded bonus points for excellence in Vygar&;s assignment.....well done, you two...you managed to crack a smile out of that old twerp..I wager that hurt his face, heheh.. Overall, Ravenclaw are still leading in the race for the cup, with 81 points total...that&;s the ticket, Ravenclaws.. "

"Now, your Charms assignment....you must find and report the Charm you would most like to learn, and tell the class why you want to learn it. If you don&;t know any Charms....I suppose you will have to either do your reading, or make one up....just make sure you follow this definition:"

A charm is a spell that adds certain properties to an object or creature. Charms are distinguished from transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes properties of an object; it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is.

Hello Professor Merilda, The charm I'd most like to learn is the Invisibility Charm. I don't plan to use this charm for anything dangerous or any sort of rule-breaking, of course. -puts on best innocent smile- I just feel like it's an important charm to learn and it'd be fun to use ... for various reasons. Thank you.

Do we have a forum group? It would be easier to ping us

As for the charm, I would like to use the summoning charm. The ability for objects to come to use instead of walking to them seems useful. It might get you out of tricky situations. I want to also learn it nonverbally for extra effectiveness

I'd love to learn the Accio charm. You can't deny the usefulness of being able to summon objects from afar, and as one of the oldest spells in wizarding history, I believe this spell is essential to learn.

Plus, I don't feel like getting up to get to my other books to study. cough

Yay, charms! How exciting! xD

I would really love to learn a flying charm, Professor Merilda. I absolutely love travel and seeing the world, and there is no better way to do so than from up above like a hawk! Plus, think of all the money that would be saved on airfaire.

everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. Reader Voracious Book Blog

I would love to learn "Ascendio". I think it is a very useful spell; it can save me from enemies in a fierce battle, or I can use it to grab a book or something that is high (because I'm small like a hobbit), without using a ladder :D

Oh gosh darnit. I didn't submit my essay. I just thought of it today. I've got 99 problems and one of them was due yesterday. sigh

For charms, it's a tie between the banishing charm and the langlock jinx (do jinxes count as charms? THEY DO NOW) Why? Well when I can't stand someone...

Now that I've had some time to read up on the topic of charms, I've decided that I'd like to learn about food-related charms. I know, I know, Hufflepuffs and food, but bear with me for a few minutes while I explain.

Food by itself is almost magical. A particular scent, or flavor can bring back childhood memories, lift your mood or evoke feelings of joy and contentment. Food can help you heal, both physically and emotionally. Who hasn't had chicken noodle soup as a kid when we caught a cold, or sat down on the sofa with a pint of ice cream after a rough patch in a relationship? Plus, when you're really down in the dumps, nothing manages to hit the spot quite like chocolate.

I've yet to find something that can put a smile on someone's face like a batch of freshly baked cookies. Halloween and Christmas wouldn't be the same without the pumpkin pie and gingerbread, I'm sure everyone will agree on that. Good luck to anyone planning to pull an all-nighter for some last-minute studying for that potions exam without drinking coffee, or tea.

Sadly, I feel that most people underestimate food and take it for granted. So, I'd like to learn how to make a good thing better. And if I manage to make someone's day with some tasty baked goods along the way, that'll just make my studies all the more sweet!

Ah Charms, one of my absolute favorite courses. It's always a hard choice to select only one favorite from the long, long, loooong textbook of spells to use. I mean, there's avis (who doesn't want a flock of birds on demand!? I mean, we all know if I wasn't such a focused witch I'd definately be a Disney princess by now), or the flying charm (I mean really, you can make anything fly! So handy!), or the engorgement charm (can you image a giant pizza! Ugh, drooool) but my favorite would have to be Expecto Patronum. There's something about the way that silver glowing wolf makes me feel, the warmth and safety in all situations, you just can't beat that. He's been there against dementors and bullies alike; and birds, flying objects, and giant pizzas don't seem nearly as magical as that.

As a particularly charming individual myself, I'm always delighted at the opportunity to brush up on my skills. In fact, I just recently read up on a charm used to add a sort of glittery, sparkling effect to clothing, especially hair clips and hats. Wouldn't that be a fine accessory to wear to Astronomy later? Just imagine the entire class in spangled hats, like a starfield on earth. Why, I think that Professor Vygar might like it enough to try it himself! D'you think he'd enjoy a hat like that as a gift?

Thanks ;w; I nver watched all the movies, so I'm totally lost It helped a lot!

Can I try again? yes oh good The charm that I'd like to learn is Legilimens. Why? Simple. The best way to finish someone is starting from inside. From memories and emotions. Everybody have a weakness, but good warriors keep them deep inside their heads, and don't tell anyone what it is. It makes them seem powerous, but they're not. Start from the right point and anything will stop you. If not Legilimens, I'd learn Densaugeo because HUHEUAHUEHUAHEUHA. It makes your teeth grow, hah... haha... teeth points to mouth ok sorry goes away

The charm I would most like to learn? Lets see...confundus, fidelius, impervious, so many to choose from. One that would probably be the most handy? The memory charm.

Obliviate.

Why? No reason in particular. It's just...sometimes things happen. I mean, you can never be too careful. Around Muggles I mean. Yes, Muggles.
