I was just wondering because of the items we had last year. If I'd been told that the policy had changed I'd have accepted it and not come on every day hoping for horribly gruesome items for my pets' galleries and treasure chests. I've accepted that squidiot won't be producing any more items so I won't be hoping for more of her work this year. I can also sympathise with players like Yusuf who don't like overly creepy stuff.
I'm not giving up on Morostide in general. For example, I've found a way of using a couple of the tattered web skirts even though they're cute, not gruesome. The only reason I haven't rushed out and bought them at current prices is because I've been hexed 4 times in a row and haven't seen my HA for hours.
imo you're putting a LITTLE BIT too much thought into this/possible item releases? Again. It's hasn't even been a day since the event started. And again, why are you giving up so easily? It just sounds like the lack of 'gruesome' items (which is only your definition, considering there are plenty of items that are gross already) is forcing your opinion/drive on the site. Why so srs? This is an event where you can, pretty much, get everything for free.
Just relax yo.
, you seem to be really negative over this and I don't really understand why you're so determined to be down about it.
I love me some body horror, personally. I know I'm not the only one on staff who does. I also know that when I was drawing items this year, I stopped a couple of times and had to go, "you, know, that really seems a lot more appropriate for the survival time of year." What is usually the goopiest, sappiest, most love stricken sugar coated holiday of the year for a lot of people is, for subeta, all about rotting flesh. Our morostide is (in my opinion, this is not in any way an official statement on what the holidays are) a lot less of a let's terrify the pants off of people and instead have some mischievous fun. Dress up as something else - be it cute or creepy, have so social moments with everyone else. Have some gross items, have some cute ones. It may not gross you out because it's not on the avatar, but those beanbags are fantastic in my opinion, and I think probably give plenty of people the heebie jeebies. Our survival is a lot more appropriate for what it seems like you're asking for.
It sucks that nothing specifically appeals to you, but it seems like you're just really determined to be unhappy about it.
To put this into perspective, we're less than 24 hours into a two-week (~16.5 day-long) event. Calm yoself.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across as negative and down etc. I was simply wondering why the tone of last year's items was a bit different to the ones of a few years ago and asking if this was a change in Morostide policy.. I'm perfectly happy with the explanations that squidiot is no longer here to produce more items for Morostide and Arbor decided that some items she thought of are more appropriate for Survival. I'm not trying to suggest that I think the artwork is awful - as I said in my OP, I think the artwork is lovely. This includes the candified pet plushies even though I don't want to keep any of them myself.
As for other things on the site, Zombie items are great for one of my pets while the food suits all of them. The fishy pirate food is just right for my second pet gallery as well. I've got a number of individual items from SBQ sets even though I don't go in for the fashion beautique style for my own HAs - I just pick things which suit the kiind of HAs I like making. My favourite event on the site is the Masquerade Ball even though the items aren't remotely gruesome.
I'm sorry if I've given offence to the artists by coming across to them as hating their work. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'girly' but I didn't think it would upset anyone when there are a lot of cute items with Girly in the name.
reminds me of the muscle anatomy posters at the doctors office, I just can't find it gruesome or scary. xD Hope some stuff comes out that you like, but remind yourself that there's a whole lot to live up to. The staff does the best that they can, and I think they do a good job.
....am I the only one that's looking forward to the plethora amount of pet art (Bloodred, Nightmare, Graveyard) instead of the items? Seriously, to me that's the best part of Morostide. Just playing the waiting game to see what surprises are in store for this year. (especially on Halloween night itself!!) xD
(and battling. Gawd I'm becoming addicted to that now)

Nope you're not! I'm really excited to see the new pet colors, or updated colors. I love the items too(especially wearables) but pets are special.
[flower=RedSekhmet]
I really enjoy seeing the latest Graveyard, Bloodred and Nightmare pets even though (a) my pets are already Nightmare and Graveyard and (b) I don't want more than four.
like someone said... it's impossible to please everyone...
on feb, with the infection, people complained about items being too disgusting for valentine, now they are complaining about being to cute for morostide... c'mon!
also, i agree... there are plenty days left for new items to be released
plus! this month collection has a lot of scary items... so what else do people want?
i personally love the candified plushies
To each their own! I can never really keep any pets of those 3 colours for long, but only because I struggle with building characters around said pet...love the art anyways! -crosses fingers for BR Kumos update- Subtle, ain't I?
Pets are indeed the most special! Otherwise it's not a petsite without'em! xD

I'm really enjoying the items so far this year. I love the scary side of Morostide, but I'm also a very big fan of Halloween-esque kitsch, so it's nice to see some variety.
And like many others, I have high hopes for some new frightening pets this year. Or at least redraws for a few who desperately need it. (Bloodred Serpenth, I'm looking at you!!)

Ritual's post made me think about Halloween. I'm in England and it's never been a major event here so you don't see kids in fancy dress Trick Or Treating. Shops stock things for it because some people have Halloween parties but all the items are horror movie related. Because of this, I associate Halloween with things like vampires and severed hands, not butterfly and bee costumes. I've now realised that Morostide is based on what happens in America.
I'm in England, and my kids have dressed up every year for the last 25 years to go trick or treating - the shops are full of all sorts of costumes :/
Of course, with Subeta being an American site, there will be an influence there - but we celebrate Halloween too, in just the same way? My friend's daughter is going dressed as a ladybird. I don't understand your argument at all.
Maybe it varies depending on region. I have never seen or been visited by any children out trick or treating in fancy dress at Halloween. There was one year when a couple of kids turned up in ordinary clothes in the middle of October - we told them to come back when it was Halloween but they never did. I'm guessing that shops stock whatever sells in a particular region.
I don't know about where you are, but all the major supermarkets here in East Anglia (Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda etc) are pretty much overflowing with Halloween items. It seems like you are missing out, for sure, it's a fun time here!
I must have been in the wrong places. I grew up in London and went to school in the 1950s and 60s - none of us kids ever dressed up and went trick or treating. No children did it when I was living in a town in Kent. I was in Norwich for a few years in the 1990s where I went to my only Halloween party - I was in a role playing group for Vampire The Masquerade and we thought it would be fun to dress up as one of our characters. Since then I've been in a town in Lincolnshire and kids don't do it here either. The bigger stores in my area stock a range of horror movie type items, though. Adults have a lot of fun poking around the shelves while their kids tend to look a bit embarrassed by what their parents are doing. :) The adults then go on to do their ordinary, everyday, shopping.
The big excitement for kids of my generation was Bonfire Night on November 5th and I'm guessing it's still more popular than Halloween in a lot of places. There's always a big bonfire festival in Lewes, Sussex, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. I did a bit of research to find out if there are any big Halloween events now and surfing led me to Mischief Night when children and teens can go out playing tricks. The traditional British date, however, is November 4th except for Liverpool where it's October 30th. Further research led me to an article about Halloween in the UK. It says that Halloween celebrations include fancy dress parties while other people get together to watch horror movies at home or at the cinema. Only some children go trick or treating.
PS: A tradition which is still carried out by kids where I am is 'Penny For The Guy' - kids make guys for their bonfires, display them in public and ask people to give them money.
lol ok!!!!!!!
And I am well aware what Bonfire Night is! xDD You have yourself a good day now :3 out
I wasn't trying to suggest that you wouldn't know. I was just pointing out that kids of my generation didn't celebrate Halloween with trick or treating while even today, kids in some areas still don't do it even though they're carrying on the 'penny for the guy' tradition.
