Well, I'm glad I don't post any unclored lineart anywhere and if I do I watermark the shit out of it.
there was an outbreak of "search and record -- use searches to harvest results" a few months ago, or at least I caught wind of it on tumblr and deviantart. They warned people against searching themselves on the engines.
the only problem with filing a complaint is that they're not actually selling your work or hosting it, just falsely advertising work where you have hosted it as free-to-use search engine for "coloring pages"... which isn't like hosting it on their sites and claiming that they created the work and that it's for sale :| I guess it's best to just remove your work from your hosts and watermark the crap out of your work from now on :S

I definitely plan to watermark my artwork from now on. Usually I have a small signature off to the side so the piece isn't obscured, but looks like I can't rely on that anymore. What gets to me is that the site stole a traditional sketch of mine, not even lineart or clean. :S So this site is nabbing just about anything that's black/white/greyscale. I haven't seen colored stuff on that site for myself, but I won't search for it so other art doesn't end up on there.
I got a response to my copyright claim from godaddy, they're telling me that they're not hosting the site. :/ Here's the response I got.
I'll be resending my copyright claim to the site that they mentioned. I may not be able to get anywhere for the reasons you stated , but if something can be done I'll be trying everything in my power to do so.
This is sickening )=

2986/??? (turns out I haven't updated in a while. Whoops!)
Thank you anon ;_; x10 March 4/21/21 (RIP Storm-buddy the leopard gecko- you lived a great 16.5 years.)
I got the same response from Godaddy and have now reported the site to the site they linked to. :I I just want this solved as quickly as possible. Also no response from imagixs, of course. B/
I wanted to post my own update and also emailed the site godaddy linked to. I finally got a response saying that they opened an abuse ticket to resolve the issue with the Portuguese imagixs site. I also want this resolved and this site (and all it's mirrors, ugh) to be removed.
I also want to thank anybody who has taken time out to act against this site. What they're doing is beyond gross, and there are so many artists that imagixs is stealing from that don't even know this site exists.
The site is kinda crappy and I tried manually looking for my art...but couldn't find anything! What pics were on there so I can take them down (if you remember/still have the links of course)? This site is just really really nasty and I can't believe the amount of art on there...(SORRY FOR THE DELAYED RESPONSE. THANKS EPICON ;u; )
definitely try and spread the word as much as possible. Maybe if there are enough reports/complaints the site will be forcefully shut down...
Hi guys! Sorry, this time I'm pinging you all to a thread that's not advertising art (and some of you might already have seen it), but this is a serious issue D:
Whether you are an artist yourself, or, like me, just know someone who is, please take a moment to check this out and spread the word!
Looks like this website is pulling out lineart pieces from various sites, Subeta included, and linking to them as if they were free for anyone to use x_x It could be your commission, your OC... this must be stopped!
Thank you ^-^
[edit] I also encourage everyone to check out the rest of the topic! If there's no way for this website to be taken down in a timely manner (there might not be D: ) watermarking everything seems to be the only way out :x
Wow, that's total butts! Thank you for the ping, also pinging for this, because I know there's a few artists on my group. c:
❤️
What the... I'm at a loss for words here. Hope the site gets taken down soon. Thank you , for pinging the group
My Toyhou.se I am always in need of art.

I don't see anything of mine, but then again, I rarely posted any lineart...though I do have a few sketches hovering here and there. Going to try to search for some off-site friends' pictures.
I don't know if you guys or any other artists who came here from artsale noticed one of my replies above, but this site is a steal-as-you-search. The first time I came and searched my urls (here and tumblr and deviantart) they were clean, but a day or two later some of my sketches/grayscale works came up in the search. Thankfully they are hotlinked so deleting your version should clear it, but it's still a hassle.

Thanks for the ping! c:
Actually I did see that, but I still support spreading awareness just because the larger the number of complaints, the most likely it is for the site to be taken down! (or so I hope, haha) I don't doubt they do the steal-as-you-search thing at all, that's lame -_- But somewhat unavoidable I think. I mean, you never know when someone else searched you before or if the database already found you somehow... I know that when I searched a couple of my friends, their works were already there n_n
oh, you didn't mention it in your artsale pinged post, so I'm not sure who all would see it.
Errr... I also mentioned how it doesn't actually go against copyright, too. "free" in the title can be misconstrued as "free art", and the ambiguous label seems to advertise it - however, it could also mean "free search engine" which is exactly what it is. The three no-nos of copyright they don't break are 1) it's not selling your work; 2) it's not hosting your work or removing any signatures/watermarks from your work (no alterations in addition with the other 2 things); and 3) it's not claiming your work as theirs. Yes, grabbing your artwork where they are and posting them without credit is very distasteful, especially to the internet art community, but it's technically not art theft as seedy as it is. It's art theft when somebody else colors your work without permission (violating fair use).... but that's a problem when you can't find it. And when/if you do find it, it's not imagix who did the thieving, it's the person who used imagix or another similar "engines" :/
The website is unresponsive to DCMA reports and so is its host (which is apparently not godaddy, rawr)... so it looks like it might be a while until it's taken down if at all. Basically, copyright law can't protect you from you posting your artwork on your chosen host, or having your work indexed by search engines. We'll just have to watermark like crazy and delete originals for a long while :/

Hmm... I best keep an eye on this website. :/ I don't understand why anyone wants to steal art like this.
True, let me go and add a little edit for those who haven't seen it yet telling them about the watermark thing. n_n
When I read that, my first thought was like "well, we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, we have to search to know if we're there and if we do we're likely to show up in a few days" -_- If I was an artist myself I think I'd search just for the sake of knowing which pieces it'd find (at least one of my friends had a piece of theirs that was actually hosted on someone else's photobucket!) :x
Yeah I understand it doesn't claim to own the pieces of arts, yet it does tell people that they can "get free coloring pages and pictures instantly!" when some of that content is not free at all, so yeah, it's not just facilitating but inducing art theft :/ Kind of a tricky situation, because the engine itself isn't against the rules but its use will inevitably lead to rule breaking... sort of a principal in the second degree, haha. I don't know details of the applicable laws but I do hope it's taken down at some point :x If raising awareness doesn't do much to get it down, at least people will learn that there are new malicious art-oriented search engines, so that they can at least try to protect their work more from this point on D:
I saw your post about that, which is why I've mostly been manually searching or searching up generic stuff like 'fantasy' or 'dragon' or something like that. Most of my friends draw mostly fantasy-related art and they have a unique enough style that I can usually pick them out easily. Thanks for the warning, though! c:
I came here from Shalashaska's ping (and tumblr post, which I actually saw first!) and was going off of them saying my work is on there~ Was trying to see if anyone might have direct links to whatever images are on there to AVOID more searching. ;u;
I already watermark my stuff like crazy so it bugs me that this site doesn't even seem to...care...they still use images with watermarks.
