So we all know what season it is... COLD SEASON! oh god how many other people out there have the cold... or at least something along those lines. Arent you sick of dealing with kleenex boxes and cough syrup...lozenges and stuff... Ive had mine for 3 days and finally I am told I have a respiratory tract infection, lovely eh? The snow is all melting here in my town but its still bloody cold out and not helping... Are you guys all bundled up? I sure am whenever i go out. :)
How do you take care of your cold season? chicken noodle soup? hot tea, or warm milk with honey? any suggestions on some getting better?
Ugh I'm sick or something. I have this awful dry cough a d I generally feel like shit. I don't want to go to the doctor or anything though. It hasn't snowed here in Tennessee yet, but it is a little cold. I don't think it's affecting whatever I have though. I HATE being hot, so I try to dress like its 70 degrees out.
I normally don't do anything special when I have a cold except try not to drink soda. I want to get as much liquid in me as possible, so I normally drink Gatorade or powerade.
I would loved some suggestions too. Though. :3

I've been sick for two weeks now. I have no idea whats going on but my body better start fighting back :(
Hot Coco tends to help me out with my colds!
I had a terrible cold the other week. What I like to do is just cuddle up on the couch and play some video games. Especially older ones I've already beaten. Then lots of coffee and tea, something bland like oatmeal or cream of wheat since I can't taste anything, and of course cough syrup.
I'm getting over a cold I caught last week. Still sniffling and coughing up mucus. I tried to sleep it off on my off days. My favorite 'remedy' is chamomile tea with honey, chicken noodle soup and I've been taking a over the counter medicine called Contac.
Awe, that does suck. Yes drinking soda can defiantly worsen any symptoms you may have already. I like having the warm milk and honey to ease a sore throat, but if you have mucus and such I would stay away from most dairy items since that will thicken the mucus. Another good thing to have is some good cough control medicine, it will ease your throat and cease the coughing almost right away.
That blows, my 3 days have been like hell for me. I hope you are getting better, and if you haven't seen a doctor yet I would recommend it because they can help a lot when they 'know what they are doing' Mine today just gave me Biaxin, which is helping a lot with my sinus problems. But also keeping warm and with good fluids helps.
That sounds like a plan. :) I am normally drained of all my energy when I am sick, so playing a video game seems a bit much for my arms xD I cant even wash dishes or put them away without my arms weakening fast on me. Bland things work when you cant taste, but for me i need something with a bearable taste to it otherwise i go into coughing frenzies... it hurts like a lot and i cant get over the sandpaper feeling.
over the counter drugs help a lot sometimes i think. I have Tylenol sinus myself which is helping :) Tea is a good thing to drink too while sick and not so sick. It helps because the natural herbs in it do a lot of good stuff for you. Chicken noodle soup is also awesome to have, you gots all the stuff going for ya!
Aww, you sound super sick. :( The only other thing I can recommend is honey. :3 And watching TV, lol. I can't think of anything else that doesn't need arms!
Haha yeah dont need arms for watching tv xD Well ive had my arm problem for a while, the doc keeps telling me its my muscles. in which i just keep over using them and it weakens them sometimes instead of making them stronger. :c Mmmmm honey, that sounds delightful right now. *gets up to go make herself some hot water with honey *
When i get home from school today I think I'm just going to gulp NyQuil. I don't have school tomorrow so I can just sleep and heal. I think I may try milk with honey because I don't have a while lot of mucus. Thank you for the tips!

Its actually really weird, Im in England and usually our winters suck, they rainy and windy which makes it feel even coldeeer, but this year so far its reasonably mild. Woop!

I don't like some of the people that come with it. Maybe I'm just a germaphobe, but here's a little story:
I went grocery shopping the other day and heard a kid coughing. Okay, not so bad right? They couldn't leave the kid at home because that'd be wrong. The kids coughing gets worse and he's sneezing on things, so the dad takes him to the water fountain. I was already standing in line and could watch it happen. He lifted the kid up (so he could get to the water) and the kid both sneezed onto the water fountain and coughed repeatedly, and when they were finished they just left. Didn't tell anyone that the water fountain should probably be cleaned or wiped down at least. So they get in line in front of me, and it's a slow moving line. I didn't say a word, but I was dying on the inside. The woman I thought was in front of me was actually his wife - who could have stayed home with the sick kid after all. Someone could have stayed home and prevented a kid from coughing and sneezing on most of the store.
Thank you society, for going out in public when you're sick. We all really appreciate it.
When I'm ill I stay home unless I absolutely have to leave.
The milk and honey is a very good thing to take when you dont have a lot of mucus in your system. Good luck with it, and I hope you feel better :)
Haha lucky you then right? We dont have a lot of snow anymore, its just cold outside so we still gotta bundle up. OMG I had this girl come into my work about a week ago, it was freezing cold out but she walks in with a bikini top and like a towel on her bottom half. it was crazy and i would defiantly not be wearing anything like that at any point unless it was hot and summer.
Dear god, that is so gross. I dont blame you, the mother could have stayed at home or even the father could have with the kid. Honestly if your kid is sick at least one parent should be with them unless its to a walk in clinic to have a check up and what not. I dont go out unless i have to too. Like ive gone to work and such but i dont cough or sneeze that bad, and if I do i cover my mouth with my arm and with tissues. even at home i dont cough over anything, i always have tissues around with me. When at work the other day a dad came in with his son, well the little guy was coughing everywhere and on things. The dad kept telling his son to cover his mouth but the kid wouldnt listen. -sigh- kids disappoint sometimes.
woah, a bikini? at this time of year? (providing your not from australia) Crazyyyy. what on earth was she doing in that thing.

I honestly have no i dead what she was doing. It was crazy nonetheless and I am surprised she isnt sick either. I almost choked on phlegm this morning, i thought i wasnt gonna be able to get it up and out my throat. :c it was horrible.
ooh i hate that too, but my boyfriend hates it when i have that even more than i do haha

Haha, my room mate was next to me when i started choking and hacking on it. she thought i was gonna die.... and yes its disgusting but i had to swallow it. I had to it wouldnt come up and i think its disgusting when that happens. I swear it was like the size of a quarter :c soooo gross. i hate being sick!!!!
I usually tough out colds without a lot of help from medicine. My mom (and her parents) weren't much for taking pills or syrups at the first sign of illness, so I've got an ok tolerance for cold or flu symptoms. I do drink a LOT of tea though, and I have a good hygiene routine so I don't get sick very often. My advice for recovering from colds is lots of sleep, lots of clear fluids, and lots of vitamin C. (especially if you can get it in a form other than orange juice)
I know a lot of people who do not take medication or anything else for sickness. It had always been a concern for me because I am diabetic and my mother would always take me to the clinic if there was a sign of a cold or sore throat. I take it serious when i get sick and try to do my best to have things clean around the house at all times.
I definitely understand. I've had diabetic family members so I know what that can be like. I've been fortunate enough to have a very healthy body so I can afford to not take medicines very often, but I don't ever hold it against people who need it or have to be more cautious with sicknesses. ^.^
