Okay my story isn't about wisdom teeth but I got an adult bottom back molar removed. It was all broken and decayed. So they had to take it out in two pieces. And I was awake. But the numbed the hell out of me. I don't even think I could feel my nose. My socket bled for days. I was worried, but there was no pain. Finally it stopped and I was careful not to chew on that side. One thing I remember was the really bad taste. It made me wanna throw up constantly. It went away after a few days. And now it is perfectly fine.

I actually had my wisdom teeth pulled on on friday(the 18th)! I was actually curious, how is your recovery coming? I'm terrified of getting dry socket & I haven't had any problems whatsoever. My face never even visibly swelled up, just the cheeks from the inside of my mouth seemed a little bigger

HOWEVER I got a flashlight today and looked at my sockets and they look kind of disgusting? like yellowy blob things, I can't tell if it's food stuck in there or rotting flesh or my blood clot, I have no idea. The bottom two were sewn shut & the top two are just open sockets, but part of them look kind of blackish from what I could see. . this is kind of scary :c I hope nothing is wrong with my sockets!! I really really don't want dry socket ughh

part of the problem is I can never tell if I have food stuck around my sockets or if it's just the feeling of healing process on the extraction site. . & I'm too afraid to touch it with my tongue or fingers or whatever haha

I have no idea what it should look like, because I never looked >-< I get grossed out too easily, lol. Plus I couldn't open my mouth up enough without pain. My dad said he never swelled up when he got his out though. Everyone's swelling and pain is different, so don't be worried about that.

The best thing I can say is to brush what you can every day, and swish gently with warm salt water at least once daily! If you're very concerned about how they look, it wouldn't hurt to call your surgeon's office and ask about it!

As for my recovery, I had my follow up with the surgeon and he said I look fine, the holes are closed up, just waiting for the stitches to fall out :3 The swelling is gone and the bruising is almost gone, I just have two little lumps of acheyness, kind of like storing a marble in between your lips and gums >-<

ooo well that's good! that's crazy the holes healed up already, I heard some people go a really long time before they heal up. did you ever have to use a syringe or anything? my dentist never gave me one, and I was never even scheduled for a check-up appointment. this all feels very casual, like I got some back alley wisdom teeth removal hahaha

are you eating whatever you want now? I've been using the salt water rinse every time I eat food so I'm hoping that's enough without the syringe. I'm getting kind of tired of sweet liquid-y things though <___>

Just try to eat only with your front most teeth (like front and canines) until the holes close up more. Mashed potatoes were great when you're tired of sweet stuff. I never used a syringe, I'm sure you're rinsing more than enough! I'd suggest looking into a followup appt though - I don't know why they wouldn't have you scheduled for one :/

it depends on how and what you had removed.

I had my top left wisdom tooth removed last year and my dentist did that in the chair because it's relatively easy to do (at my age). Didn't need a followup appt as there is little chance of something going wrong other than dry socket which you'd totally notice on day three when the pain gets worse rather than dulling down.

I'm getting the two bottom ones removed at the end of August and that is being done by a dental surgeon in a hospital as a day surgery, under anesthetic. For that they have already booked my 10 day followup appointment as the bottom ones are more likely to get infected and they need to check the stitches, which I didn't need for the top one. I'm not really looking forward to it but have taken a week of work afterwards and will play games/movies/read and dose myself with drugs as often as needed.

Oh man, when I went to get mine taken out they did the routine X-ray of my mouth and the dentist started laughing. And I was like "WHAT IS SO FUNNY, DENTIST MAN?!"

Turns out I had a fifth tooth up top on the right they they HAD to take out that day as well. I was not pleased.

But then afterwards the first thing out of my mouth, because the gauze they put in your mouth has strings so you can easily pull it out, was "Why are there TAMPONS in my mouth?"

Which made him laugh even more.

Basically my dentist was a dick.

I got mine taken out a few weeks ago and hated it duh xD. But the pain meds made me throw up so I had to go solo on dealing with the pain. I also didnt use an anesthetic when getting mine pulled I was awake the whole time. Although I was numbed and sorta high from the laughing gas the shots hurt like hell and feeling the doctor continuously yanking on my tooth felt awful. I remember thinking to myself just get the damn tooth out already. They also had to saw one of my teeth in half to remove it...yikes. But in the end it didnt last long and the pain wasnt too bad!

I got all 4 of mine out at the same time a little over a year ago. I had heard so many horror stories that I was terrified, but it actually went extremely well. I didn't have to take any painkillers and I ate pizza the next day lol

aws, I'm a rebel. I still have all of mine. My top two are out and useful, my bottom two are asleep, forever hopefully.

The only reason my top two are okay is because back when I was in middle school when I was going through the process of straightening my teeth with braces, they pulled two of my back molars out because my mouth was so crowded. I remember getting sick to my stomach from swallowing all the blood.

I had my upper right one removed some years ago because it got infected. After the antibiotics cleared that up I had it pulled out. For me, the procedure was really simple. Just some local anesthetic, pull it out, and a stitch or two. I don't think I even took any painkillers afterwards. Thank god it was one of the upper teeth, since the anesthesia won't numb your tongue when they just remove upper wisdom teeth.

I still have my upper left one. Never had any issues, so I never had it removed. And my bottom ones never appeared, though according to the x-rays they do exist. :D

I think mine need to come out D: They've been growing in on and off for 2 whole years now, it's getting a bit ridiculous! Sometimes it gets really painful :( Silly wisdom teeth, you have no evolutionary advantage. You're just a pain in the arse really. D:

I only had two. When I had them removed hurt really bad if I was late with my pain meds. But after a couple days the only thing that hurt were the stitches. so I played with them until I got them out. then I was fine.

I've not had mine out yet, but I likely will within the next year or two. All four are impacted, but only one (lower right) has erupted significantly and caused me some discomfort. I've had extensive orthodontic treatment and one filling, but I know nothing will compare to the ordeal of an extraction! I don't think I'm brave enough to have them all out at once. If I have a choice, I'd like to get the upper ones done first since those usually have more complications (get the worst outta the way, y'know?), then get the bottom ones removed a while later. Not looking forward to it at all. :c

I had all four of mine removed just after I turned 18, and it was a relatively pain-free experience. I was put completely under and woke up shivering my ass off, but fortunately my blood clotted fast and I recovered well (after getting a blanket and some water) so I was discharged quickly which was nice.

I had to eat soft things for about four days, and by the fifth I was able to start eating somewhat regularly again.

Mine are slowly coming out but I need to check with the dentist to see how they're doing.

I'm terrified of having to get them removed XD Lots of bad stories about it lol.

I suggest eating cold items. Although I have no personal experience since I neither have nor, had any wisdom teeth. Basically I was born without wisdom teeth, but good luck with yours.
