When I go to erase limbs, etc, it goes transparent. ><
Also, thank you for the amazing guide. I did my pet Blunt's overlay and it's epic. :D
How do you add items?
Sorry for the delayed responses!!
Do you mean, like, from Glacier white to Nightmare black, and vice versa?
Hmmm.... that's odd. It should be similar to the above tutorial when you erase the fluff from the Kanis's head. But I will do a test of my own and try and figure where the problem may be.
I'll be covering that in an upcoming tutorial. I ask for you patience as I get everything back together and organized again.
To everyone else I haven't replied to, I apologize. Again as the first post states, I've started work on this again, so expect to see a new tutorial up shortly after April 25th.
:) I'll be looking forward to the next installment!
Thank you for your continued patience. I'll work as fast as possible to get that tutorial up for you.
Alright, well that is going to be one of the tutorials I'm going to have up by the 25th or shortly after, but I can try and explain the Glacier(white) -> Nightmare(black) one, because it's the easiest and I haven't quite figured out how to make the Nightmare -> Glacier look work nicely on GIMP (close, but not perfect).
But for the Glacier one, say we have a Glacier Popoko, since those seem to be popular. Now for the tutorial part that I do have up there^ follow it up to the point where you have the overlay layer and could begin colouring in your pet. What you want to do now is create another layer, just like how you created the overlay layer. Alright, now make sure you are on your new layer, then for the Mode part, click the arrow and pick the Multiply option. Then, you can start colouring whatever colour you need!
So what you should have for layers by the end of this is the following:
Layer 3 - Multiply
Layer 2 - Overlay
Layer 1 - Normal (your pet picture)
[note: this is how it will appear in the Layers box]
For a dark Nightmare-ish colour, you don't want to use a solid, 100% opacity, black colour, or else you'll just get a silhouette. So all you do is just toy around with the opacity level of the paint brush you're using to get the shade of black you want. You can also use different shades of grey if you don't want to mess with the opacity levels.
I hope that helps!
Thanks for this! Now I know why people use photoshop :P That one looked far easier, but I am cheap. Anyway, thanks
How do i color just parts of my pet? Like for my glade tutani i just want to color him. How do i avoid the flowers and fish?
Google: partial color tutorial for GIMP
Will Do. thank you :)
[edit]That kinda helps but all it does is make the rest of it grayscale XD; Gosh GIMP is confusing to me XD
You're welcome. :) Yeah, that's the one problem I'm still trying to figure that out too -_-; I wonder how complicated photoshop is, eh? lol.
Tell me how it goes :)
My toolbar with the layers disappeared D: What do I have to do to get it back? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
See:

[EDIT] Wait...does this count as re-starting an old board? I'm sorry D:
