My name is common and not hard to remember (Emily. Probably one of the easiest names in the book), but I had an English teacher once that always called me Mary. I mean, Mary =/= Emily.

Lots of people pronounce it Michelle, but like the 'ch' sounds like the one in chance. I hate it. So. Much.

A lot of people pronounce it "ay-reen" at first but it doesn't bother me too much, as long as they don't do it constantly.

Some folks seem to have a problem spelling it, though. My ENGLISH teacher spelled it "Irean" and "Ireen." Several times. 8|

also my friends call me gayleb sometimes. Nothing else weird has ever really happened to me, but the story behind 'gayleb' is actually pretty funny. I had a weird substitute teacher who came around asking our names, so I told her mine and spelled it out for her. She looked at me weird, and said, 'Oh, I've never heard that before; is it native?' I was like, uh, no. so she just smiled and walked away.

When she was out of ear shot my friend leaned over to me and said, 'Caleb, she spelled your name with a 'G.' I was like. ... wat
