Hi all! You may have noticed today we released a couple of changes for pet profiles. By popular request, pet birthdays (or ages) are now shown on pet profiles. Adoption dates are also shown, though prior to today Subeta hasn't tracked when pets were adopted. Thus, pets without an adoption date show their birth date instead as a "(Legacy)" date. We've also added progress bars that track stats. These bars show how your pet's stats compare to its highest stat. We may be changing how these work in the future. These changes are just the tip of the iceberg, though! You can expect some major changes for pet profiles in the near future. I won't say just what yet, but I promise you'll like them. You can expect to see the new system up and running by the end of the year! The downside of this, of course, is that current pet profiles won't work on the new system! We know this is frustrating to people, especially since the pet profiles were just recently broken with the new layout. This is a problem that plagues every site - it's impossible to make improvements and maintain compatibility with the existing versions of features. We think (and I hope you'll agree) that in the long run making big improvements is worth having to redo some profiles. Therefore, I'd advise against investing a lot of sP in pet profile coding at the moment - just a warning! -Alex

I think this is really cool. I'm one of the people that loves to know things like when my pets were born. I only recently started keeping track, so for older pets of mine, I really like this

I only had profiles on a couple of my pets but decided not to have them on anymore when the redesign happened, since pet profiles tend to look so goddamn cluttered and ugly most of the time. I like the simplicity!

Neat feature though! A little cluttered, but i don't mind. Im glad the staff is giving more attention to pets; they seem to be getting lost in all the HA stuff lately. I can't wait for what's to come though I wonder what it is...

It wasnt hard for me to tell be4 when my pets b-day was. Same Day I started playing here. Altho I dont get why she was both Born & Adopted on the same day =/ Since tech. I never adopted her. -shrugs-

Thanks for the hard work.

One change I think would be particularly interesting would be more accommodation for users who don't see their pets as 'pets' like the dog or cat or bird they might have in their home, but as personalities - I'm thinking particularly of roleplayers here. I personally have several pets whose appearance, minion and description I'll put time and money into, but who I don't train or battle. Similarly, I've found it interesting to find out how old my pets are, but see the stat as more of a novelty which clutters up the page than something I'd want there permanantly. It would be great to have the option to hide certain aspects of pet pages and show others, to make them more customizable in the same way that our User pages are.

Showing pet's birthdays are a great idea! Now maybe I'll remember to fill their treasures on their birthdays.

Also, thanks to that stat bar, my battle pet's intelligence looks very low. Off to read him some more books now. XD

I think it looks kind of cluttered. The B-day and adoption day sound neat for the future adopted pets. Not so much for my 12 pets that are all adopted before this and just have the same date listed twice. Maybe you could drop the legacy date and only show the birthday to fix that for earlier adoptions. Having the dates positioned there makes the other info right above it, the color, gender and owner, seem less important. While to me it's what I'm more interested in. I don't really see the point to the bars other then again adding to a cluttered look. But you said this is a work in progress. So just like I didn't get upset with the first pet profile revamp, where centering was off and text overlayed pet pics, I'm willing to wait and see the final product looks like before I worry about it.

Thanks for the changes - you're obviously putting a lot of thought into the site at the moment.

One change I'd like to see thought about however, is accommodation for people who don't see their pets as 'pets' like the dog or cat or bird you own at home, but more as personalities, for instance with roleplayers. This is something Subeta is beginning to have more in common with much less mature sites. With pets who I don't train up in any way, it's silly that it's necessary to emblazon across their profile that they have read 0 books and have 0 strength etc - it would be great to have the option to enable or disable parts of the profile, to make them customizable in the same way that our user profiles are. It would also be great to see things like the Training Center text changed, so that rather than "your pet" they were referred to by their names, and sentances like "This pet is in training in Speed! It has 60 minutes left!" would contain their actual name and gender.

And if people want to make their pet profiles custom, be smart and keep it simple so it can work with just about everything. Or wait til the massive overhaul of life is over. Whichever.

Well, it's cool and all but one of my pets I did not adopt, I created[another I created then put in pound and then adopted the same day so that one I can understand] but I think it would also be nice to have something that might show the date/update of when a pet changed its color. Reason why is because I might have adopted my Sheeta but through my hard work I also used a glacier potion on it, myself.

At least these changes are easily coded to look how /I/ want - hopefully any future changes will be just as customizable. :3

Don't mind the birthdays. I always did want to see that. I removed the adopted date and the stat bars. I'm glad this is so easy to code instead of having to wait for someone else to code for me.

I think this is a nice change. I'm happy to see birthdays, especially! I'm sorry for those who will need to recode, but if we don't sacrifice some, we can't move forward. I am having the same issue as mentioned below...all my pets have birthday and adoption dates showing, even those I created. I'm sure that will be sorted, though. I really appreciate the work that goes into making improvements to this site that I love!

The birthday thing is kind of cool, although I dislike that both an adopt and create date are displayed. And the stats is kind of ugly.

I do like the idea of showing their birth dates.

But I did not adopt any of my pets they were all Created so why does it show their adoption dates

Bummer. But such is life. Hopefully whatever it is you guys are doing will make it less of a coding mess on your side.

Buuuuut.... what more is there to possibly be added to pet pages that isn't already there? With the addition of these birth dates, which are awesome and it's nice to finally see them for all of the pets I wasn't sure about, I'm not really sure what else there is to add to them. We've got their picture, name, gender, their owner, their stats (the bars are a nice idea, but it makes the pages much too cluttered up top for my liking, so I'll need to be finding out how to remove them), their weapons, their minion, their friends, their treasure chests... I'm confused, what more does a pet need? Especially without their petpage becoming so bogged down with information that it becomes difficult to put custom information like images and stories on it.

Yes, i like that they told us NOW that there are more changes. and I won't be putting any money into getting my codes recoded... i have to DO the recoding. I was finally getting caught up with the last recodes (and it was a lot) from some past commissions and now i have to go back and redo things again.

I have noticed that it is only two things that look like they will need changed so i hope i am able to do that since if i can't the layout's i've just made will not work and there is more time thrown away.

As stated as the last sentence, he said not to spend any more sP on coding because there will be more changes. They may not have said anything before but they are saying something now. I am sure only a few tweaks will need to be made to our current profiles and not a TOTAL revamping and overhaul. I am sure there will be very helpful people on the forums who will lend a hand in helping you fix your current profile to work appropriately so you do not have to throw around a whole bunch of sP for a new one.
