ChillyKitten, the only other experiment that isn't pieced together or greatly mutated would be the Squid experiment, which is another of the more recent ones and when it came out I didn't think it fit the bill nicely either.
I love the art on the 8001 and am happy that it was released, I just think it should have been under the title of something else or had included some more actual mutant/experiment aspects.

I dont get why everyone is whining about the 8001 experiment. Not all subetan experiments are sewn together, you know. In fact, nearly half of all experiment pets have not a single stitch on them, and look quite natural- other than being an odd sort of species. I'm serious. take a look.
I personally LOVE it. The colours and the little feathery 'headdress' make it look sort of mayan to me. This should be the sort of experiment that petty humans should worship. xD I'm definately going to try for one.
The hexlord pet is gorgeous too, i've always loved the cute but creepy grin. I just wish i could see the body design under all that blackness. Thanks artists. You've all been working overtime!

The art for both of these is wonderful. Experiment though, as amazing as it looks, doesn't really fit the bill for 'Experment', as it looks very normal and consistant - as dragons go. The other experments have kinda set the bar at generally being an amalgamation of parts. On the flip-side, including a few, comparativly, normal looking creatures into the mix and perhaps making them more difficult to discovery gives a whole other level to the Pet Zapper! It will likely interest more folks into using it, which will in turn raise the value of wizard tokens even further. [One of the monetary items on this site that really could use to be a bit more valued. After all - when available - a reasonably aquirable amount of tokens can be traded in for potions and items worth millions in sP]
Also, nice to see the Hexlord as a possible pet option too. I really liked those diabolical looking beasts when I first saw them, hah. : ) The artists did a brilliant job with these!

I'm a little conflicted on the 8001. I think it is an amazing pet and very well drawn and great color choice, it just doesn't say "Experiment pet" to me. Experiments are supposed to be stitched together or grotesquely mutated creations. This is pretty much just a land dragon. I think if it had been tweaked some it could have made a nice Mahar color, maybe Hydrus or something.
I like . I might try for one soon.
I'd never wanted to use the Zapper before, but now I think I'm gonna. The Hexlord, it calls to me.

I beg to differ on the experiment issue. this new 8001 looks like a mix of two to three different beings. is a mix of two. it looks natural enough, it isnt stitched and there arent any discolourations, or any major mutations. The same goes for , it's a little extreme but still natural enough. doesn't look like a mix of anything, but rather a species of its own, also looks like it's own unique species with only minor mutations with the tail and lack of growth in one antler and tooth. doesn't seem mutated at all, just.. ehm.. misunderstood? xD I could go on. It's just my opinion of course, but I personally don't believe that 8001 is out of it's league when it comes to experiments, it is just a lesser case of what could happen to your pet.
