Sorry, but if you wanted completely specific then you are wrong too. The correct answer there would be rifle-buck season with those two words hyphinated. That would be the most specific.
I'm not going to cry over the fact that I missed this one, but I do have to say it's not fair at all and this was a HORRIBLE trivia!!!
It would be easy to assume that when you said specific you ment deer season instead of just the general term hunting season.
But anyway you'll do whatever you want cause it's not our say how this game is played. I just wanted to point out that this one was really horrible and there are going to be a lot of ticked off players.

Since there is a general sense of civility and politeness in the opinions being expressed, even the negative ones , and, as I actually agree that there might be some confusion in non-English speaking countries to which deer and like animals are not native, while enough were actually won, it was still fewer than 1,000, so I'll re use this prize some time before Christmas.

"BGG explained why it's buck and not deer a few times already"

Well that is fine and good, but several people have also repeatedly pointed out what the actual gaming commission website says and it includes Does as well as Bucks...so..say it with me...deer season is correct as the answer unless you want to say the PA gaming commission doesn't know what they call their own day in their own state and what they are allowed to kill on said days.

Well, this is what I found when I searched :

November 28, 2005
SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, Pa. -- Today is the first day of buck season in Pennsylvania.

To search I used, date, Pa, hunting ...

And YES - look at their bits! if you can't see antlers, and you don't have the right permit, DON'T shoot it. O.O!

Google or not....it's deer season in PA. It lasts for 2 weeks. The first 3 days you can take buck or doe, then for the remainder of the two weeks only buck. So it is DEER season

Oh well ... still got stuck on whether we were being asked what it was the first day of or what the monday holiday was. It seemed to ask both.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I'm sorry, but I find the last trivia answer completely unfair.

A buck IS a deer. Buck season? So what happens if you shoot a Doe on accident? Are we supposed to look at their bits first to know what we're shooting at?

Silly people.

Funnily enough, the only site I found during my search that came up with "buck season" was a church site. o.O I dunno.

Oh, well.. the new trivia looks easy enough and is Subeta related.

All of the non-US residents who didn't get this one...don't feel bad. I live in Missouri and I got it wrong as well.(Deer season for the record). So, no, it wasn't a "if you live in the USA you will know this" type of question. We all used google just like you most likely did and most of us got it wrong too from what I am seeing. The question was just plain bad as it had multiple answers that were correct no matter how many times we were told to be specific...deer season was correct per the actual gaming commission of the state and rifle season would also have been correct. It was just a bad trivia in general...IMO.

I went for buck, because that's a special deer (male) and therefore more "specific".

Also, this was a google-able answer. It doesn't matter where you live, you can google it. As you see, even plenty of Americans got it wrong.

You have to have a special permit to bring down a doe or antlerless deer, though. You only need a standard hunting license to shoot a buck on that day. That's why it's Buck, not Deer.

I found plenty sites that said Buck Season.

"Buck Day is the opening day of the rifle buck season in Pennsylvania; the Monday after Thanksgiving; many schools are closed; fathers and sons go to hunting camp"

http://www.startwright.com/york,pa.htm

That sent me on my specific "buck" search. I found plenty more that had that monday as Buck Day, which was the start of, dun dun dun, Buck Season!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Gah! I got another trivia wrong. That last one was just misleading. I looked all over and only saw the answer I put, which was deer season. I am unhappy, but I will survive. So what are the stats on this trivia?

As a 20 year Pennsylvania resident, I have to agree with the facts (as stated in the posts below) that buck season is not the accurate name for the day. It definitely isn't what I know to be the most common name for it here.
Oh well...on to the next one. Subeta related. Easy. Pretty prize. Yay!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I put the question into google:

In the US, in the state of Pennsylvania, what somewhat unusual day is given off school every year as a holiday today, the first Monday after Thanksgiving: the first day of... what?

and came up with a a site saying deer season. I feel cheated.

This is a quote from a local CBS affiliate TV station in Pennsylvania (WHP) for Nov. 26, 2007: "Close to a million Pennsylvania deer hunters were up before the sun Monday. Each was hoping to bag a buck or a doe on the first day of the two-week rifle season." http://www.whptv.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=38297287-20ce-4bed-b4ac-8901b9d4a130&rss=50

Notice the terms, "bag a buck or a doe".

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by blaGue

By this logic, if buck season was the correct answer, doe season should've been an acceptable answer too. Because hunting of -both- started yesterday. So the answer should've been either buck season AND doe season, OR deer season. Not one or the other.

I'm sorry but that last trivia was unfair to all those of us who don't reside in the US. I'm in Australia and I don't know anyone who lives in that State of the US. Please don't ask such regionally specific questions in future.

Actually, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission website, it's "Deer (Antlered and Antlerless)":

http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=460&q=161003
DEER (Antlered and Antlerless) Statewide: Nov. 26-Dec. 8. One antlered deer per hunting license year. An antlerless deer with each required antlerless license.

I agree, there should be multiple acceptable answers for a trivia like this. I figured that by specific, it meant deer as opposed to hunting. I doubt most people would find that answer and think that they had to get more specific.
