It's an auction, you have the chance to outbid. There's days left for bidding. There's also going to be alot of sniping last minute. :p

1 point auctions are kind of silly as it is, since all the items will be bought for the going rate or more.
It's a sneaky way of getting rid of excess sP from the uber rich players.

Agreed. In my opinion, the ONLY reason people should bump the price up early is to keep track of the auction under the "My Bids" tab. And even then they should only bump it by the minimum amount, and only bump it once.
