It seriously makes me wonder how people continually seem to be here just to find things to complain about. A few staff members decide it'd be fun to do something nice at a con they're going to for users who might be there and all of a sudden it's "omg unfair".
You think it's a horrible idea, just don't go, oh mighty oppressed ones.
Geez.

Awwwes! WHY do I have to be broke and live all the way across the country from this?! T'would be SO cool to meet you, Kat & David! ^^
I shall be there in spirit! So if you ffel a cold finger go down the back of your neck, that's me. giggles
LUFF the t-shirts/designs! Will these be made available to all subetians? (really wants all the t-shirts back for sale on Subeta)

I think it's a great idea to promote the site! Anyway that we can get more peeps to know we're here is worth it. Props to Kat & David, I envy you the opportunity! Sure wish I could be there, panic attacks not withstanding! nervous laughter

Gasp I actually know where that is... (assuming that we're talking about the main campus or Manhattan campus) not to mention its actually within a relatively good driving distance. Wow I might have to look into this one. I might be able to go, but I was planning on going to white plains to go get some supplies. Last thing I need is to spend my money before I even go and take care of business. I'm just really iffy right now on whether or not I will go. It depends on what happens over the weekend I suppose.

And meeting at a mall or something would definitely raise questions in a parent's mind.

-----------------
Obviously you don't see BOOTHS in the middle of the hall in the malls like I do, then. I also said OR somewhere else that was busy.

I guess all those times my folks took me to the mall's craft fairs wasn't safe, then, because there were people around.

i like the drawings thats all i got to say xD

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It's actually $40, not $52 if you order ahead of time. I'd go if I wasn't so far away Sounds like fun though

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Um...with all due respect everyone, I-Con isn't a terribly big, crowded convention. It's not like it's Otakon...with like 40 thousand people Imagine trying to find 2 Subeta Staff in that mess. On top of that, the campus is quite large, so the 6k crowd (if it really is 6k) is spread out.

It is busy enough to be safe though. It's on a college campus, there's plenty of people around.

And meeting at a mall or something would definitely raise questions in a parent's mind. It's like one of those sketchy MySpace meets that paranoid parents hear about. Having this at a con (even unofficially) is probably the best bet if you wanted some free advertising.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents into this =)

I wish I could go, it's so close. I probably wouldn't hear the end of it with my mom, and I don't have a car. -sighs and shrugs- whatever.

Hope everyone who does get to go has fun

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Don't think of it so much as them staring at you, but rather admiring you. =P

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I have bad anxiety in large crowds.

I have anxiety pretty bad too, but I might go anyway, plus I'm not too bad if random people don't come up to me. In this case I get to sneak up on the random people so it should be ok, maybe even ... dare I say... FUN! XD

I live in NY, but I can't go. I don't even have $10 to spend. It's a shame, I've never been to a con before.

Aw well, I hope you two have fun. ;3

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

You think you get anxiety? I have to sit on a panel infront of like, 300 or so people to talk about gaming, lol, I'm going to be bright red the whole time knowing these people are staring at me!

Aww... Too bad I live two states away, & can't afford to travel over there & attend. I want to meet some people there, too.. Like.. Kari & Tory! (Mythbusters is such a great show)

The only Cons that are held near me is an anime convention.. Anime Boston to be exact. That's it. xDD (Which I'm going to. Whooteh!)

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Yep Kat that's the one

and David like I said if I could afford it and there wasn't a large crowd at the things then I would go.

We were both already going to the con, paying our 52 dollars per person to go for our own reasons, and decided to promote Subeta while we were there.

We're going to events that we planned to go to, I personally have been asked to sit on panels and answer gamer questions for games like World of Warcraft and Everquest 2, and in the same respect, be seen sitting there in my Subeta shirt.

We didn't expect anyone to go to pay 52 dollars just to get a promo code for whatever random prize it's going to be, we're ready to hand them out to whomever already paid to go, I'm sure there has to be a couple Subeta fans who are total geeks like ourselves and were going to I-con already.

Ok since ya put it that way Kat..
That makes alot more sense

I would attend since I live close , but I went to one in GA before and didn't really like it.. It was WAY to crowed and I hate large crowds.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Actually, I paid for the tickets, I was the one forcing David to go, so I had to pay

Okay, I admire you're paying out of pocket. I also understand promoting.

All good intentions are paved with gold, it doesn't mean it works all the time.

Besides the safety factors, I still think it's not fair for your players you already have who can't afford it.

Nightflame, I am funding 99% of the costs out of pocket. Its so we can get subeta out infront of a bunch of people that haven't been to subeta before. The news post is more to let members know we will be there, if any area already planning on attending.

Ok David you may be funding yourself and maybe Kat to go.. That's cool..
My point is not everyone can afford to go.

and also the servers can barely support the amount of users we have now.. If the site gets bigger then we will need new servers yet again.
Wouldn't it have been smarted to get way larger servers before promoting the site even more??

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Ok I can agree with Amy (NightFlame) on this one..

Ok i'll give David and Kat props for the thought..

But really I don't even see 1/4 of the site showing up due to location and cost..
Not only do people have to pay for the membership, but those whom don't live anywhere close will have to pay for gas, plane ticket, bus ticket, train ticket, or however they would get there..

And alot of parents wouldn't allow their kids to go to something like this unsupervised... which means parents would have to fork out even more money.

Personally, I think it would be better (and safer), if you were doing this at a mall, or someplace where it's busy.

You expect parents to pay 50+ dollars for something that Subeta isn't even affiliated with (which, by the way, is poor business sense) to get a code from two people who have no booth set up, but have shirts on in a crowd of 6k people?

What happened to equality for everyone in this game?

Perhaps people here close to that event would go, but can't afford it.

Should have thought this out better guys. Sorry

Yeah, I-con is a membership thing, three days is about 52 dollars, there are single day memberships too but it's cheapest for all three days. It's a Con, so you pay one price, and go to all these different events and stuff.

David has swords, and you're allowed to wear swords at I-con (Don't even think about it David ) So I'd beware

Although this sounds weird. (For the users who are going.) So we're supposed to track down you guys, poke you in the back and go "HI CAN I HAVE A CODE PLEASE?"

Oh yeah...and something I forgot to mention in my previous comment.

Looks like we'll be getting a lot of new Subeta Users if they manage to see those spiffy shirts and be interested enough to know what Subeta's all about. And those Prize Codes...all of those newbs will have those Prize Codes...envies people who can go

There should be a Subeta visit down here in California. As long as it's not too far from where I live and if my parents would let me...I'd definitely go. :3 But visit the other Subetians in other countries, like Canada, Germany, Australia and stuff. x3 The US can't get all of the attention, but I think that the staff obviously know that.
