Princess_isho, it does disappear, so that the item is not traded about between possible multiple accounts, making it difficult to track. The item isn't priced this way to bring in money, but because I don't want everyone to use it. Its confusing enough, even though it will show up on your profile.

Oh.Em.Gee. What a great item! I like my username, but who knows, maybe I'll get tired of it (or another username that I like will become available).
The item is higher priced both because its use is stressful coding wise, and because we don't want everyone just changing their username! And don't forget, it gets destroyed when used to change your username.
