Antlephore Update!

aint nobody checking this thread anymore but deer are one of my favorite animals and the fact that the only deer we get is some cartoonish archaic joke with no depth kills me. even the revamp fails to give it depth. a couple of takes on it

made an honest effort not to change it too much or get rid of the cartooniness, but a few of the things changed (and that didnt change) struck me as weird. the older one with the straighter legs/longer neck looked better than a lot of the current anatomical changes, tho the feet hurt to look at in both versions and while its hard to fit them in there without resizing a bit (i didnt bother to do) theres space to make them at least a little less limp. the knees in the back legs look too low/dog-like, making the body more uniform in thickness instead of the slim belly could help that. the shoulders are misplaced/too pronounced, and while the old one had the right idea of the higher up rump end, the revamp got rid of this detail. the eyes still just look flat and plastered on and i cant take them any more seriously than the eyes on the old one. if anything its more jarring seeing them on a modern, more polished drawing of the species. the muzzle also seems flat and like it got more pug-like (or maybe its the smaller nose that makes it look flatter? why make it smaller though?). the placement of the eyes/nose makes it look like theres no depth to the face at all, no angles, no life. and one of my biggest gripes: the antlers are somehow worse. they used to be thicker, more pointed, and generally stronger looking and more antler-like. they weren't great and could have benefited from turning or curving them even a little to give them some visual interest but even worse to me: why are the antlers stylized as looking like dried ramen pieces? i could break them with my teeth and ive broken my teeth more times than i have fingers

people aren't mentioning non-colorfills because they think they got updated, they're mentioning them 'cause newspost asked what's your favorite and didn't exactly specify they meant the updated colorfills. wanted to explain since people were getting confused. LOL

out of the colorfills, I love twilight and lilac! out of the non-colorfills, my faves are angelic, sweetheart, bloodred, and glade/harvest. I hope galactic gets a revamp too this year -- it's so pretty but the art just needs modernizing!

My favourite Antlephore is Chibi because I have one named Annie (I know, not the most creative name, but I couldn't resist), but I think they all look great!

Subtle yet very effective update! The new fur shading is exquisite and I love that the eyes still have that thousand yard stare without looking quite so derpy as the old one did. I'd never considered owning an antlephore before, but now both the marsh and the silver are quite tempting!

I'd save the art now, just in case! So you can custom overlay if they change it in a way you don't like.

You know, just the other day I was thinking that Antlephores were about due an update?! I'm so glad to see their O_o face was kept, I was really worried that would get lost in a revamp!! These are darling <3

Also guys it's just the colourfills that have been redrawn!!! none of the redraws have changed or I'm sure they'd have been called out specifically in the newspost :)

I have a page here with all of the pet revamps I was able to find :) I agree it'd be nice to have a database or something showing all of the item revamps. I have a lot of old items saved but I think making a page for those is a bit beyond my ability :x

(The previous Antlephores aren't up on there yet but I'll have 'em up tomorrow, I just caught this update before going to bed so I'm not at my comp with the relevant files ^^; But if you change the url of the basic ones from "png" to "gif" you can see the old ones, like for example:)

I've never really been a fan of the antlephore's derpy face but they're much fluffier and cuter now. Almost tempted to get an aqua one and name it TL;DR/Teal Deer. But I don't have any pet slots and I probably wouldn't actually get one even if I did.

I actually love this revamp! The coloring adds such nice depth especially to the fur! I also love seeing all 4 of its cute little leggies, thank you so much to the artists<3

I really like this revamp, and I actually don't notice that much of a difference in the eyes from old to new. The changes are subtle enough in my opinion that it keeps the overall vibe just with slightly updated artwork.

Also the news post mentioned that only the common pose colors were updated, so Idk why everyone is talking about other ones that weren't updated lol

Why the revamp? I wish there was a place where we could see if an item or pet has been revamped and when. I'm always losing track of the revamps. Especially since either you sneak some in or I completely miss the news post. Not sure why I like the old one better because your right and I almost can't tell what the difference is other than the eyes. I really like the size difference between the eyes. Wish it was still as extreme but overall a really good revamp. Love the reborn and bloodred so I hope they stay the same.

Nice. I kind of miss the body shading which made it look more defined but I like the antlers better now and the hooves. That said the Dark Matter, Arid and Lilac is really nice..actually they are all nice so it is hard to choose just one.
