Hexing and Token Shop Goodies!

Happy Morostide, my spooky pals. I just want to clarify some things for everyone.

Are you looking to get hexed more often? Try wearing the Collection of Obscene Gesture Photos. If you don’t want to get hexed, try Random ToTing. There is no chance of getting hexed when trick or treating randomly. Just a reminder, the link on the news sidebar for random trick or treating will show an error when you click, that’s just because the link is timed. Under the “The link you're trying to use has expired” bit should be a button that says “Random Trick or Treat”. Click that and bam, you are on your way to candy town!

Oh, also! As a special treat I’ve restocked the Token Shop with a few items that’ll help you during the holiday. The Hypno-Monocle decreases your chance of being hexed when choosing the house to visit, such as a friend of yours or a person on the forum using sCode. The Bag of Minion Nip will increase your chances of finding one of Jaxon’s wayward minions at the Pumpkin Patch. Make sure to be wearing these items for them to work!

Huh, I didn't realize you don't get hexed from random tot-ing, good to know. I do need to get hexed a bunch more for the achievement, anyway

I'm glad you heard our plea and restocked the book! I'm still lending mine out for those who miss the restock; I need all of the T-o-T items for my active's TC so I'm goin' in no monocle and no book and seeing what RNGesus has for me 😂 so far I've gotten neither the hex nor pumpkin border.

yep it's random. I've been hexed several times and still havent gotten the border. Some get it the first time while others it can take awhile. Rotten luck for us. :p

when you get hexed your avatar looks weird and you don't get a treat.

the "best" item depends on what you want: if you really want the hexed achievement border, get the book (and don't use random trick or treat). if you really want the achievement for finding crook the frog in the pumpkin patch (which is only available this year), get the minion nip. if you want to lower your risk of getting hexed when trick or treating on the forums (tot with the user above, a user-hosted contest, etc), get the monocle.

There’s no real set amount of days for the holiday. These are the previous start dates:

Oct 18, 2020 Oct 17, 2019 Oct 16, 2018 Oct 13, 2017 (because Friday the 13th) Oct 17, 2016

Some years things get extended for downtime or something important happening (or plots happening). I’ve adjusted the timers to reflect the later start date this year.

Last year I did mostly random ToT and got almost no hexes. Thought either hexes weren't working properly or that the sage and Hypno-Monocle were doing an excellent job! LOL
