The newer is nice and well done but it is lacking something that makes it feel less alive to me, so I have to say I prefer the original. I think it’s the expression for me. It also seems less fluid and dragon like and more stocky and dog like.. Here are some of my thoughts:
I prefer the older design by far. The body proportions look better for an eastern dragon (sleek and long), it has more detail, and its expression is fierce. The new design isn't ugly, but the old design is just....better for what the pet is. The new one just looks like a plush version of the old which takes away a lot of the charm the paralix has as a pet. I wouldn't be against the art of the current one getting updated, but I don't think the design itself should change, which this update appears to do.
The proposed is adorable but it seems like a step backwards at the same time? Fantastic lineart but flat shading.
adding on to the redline train, just some ideas on how to make the limbs longer and the pet look a bit more angular (to help with the fierce quality that people are missing on it)
Not a fan of the new version. i've always viewed them as lung style dragons and they are usually very lithe/thinner in shape. the current art is good as is and as someone else said in the other comments there's other pets that could use the revamp much more.
I prefer the old version. The new version doesn't have as much detail and reads more dog than dragon.
Though I don't have one at the moment (I've had one in the past) I prefer the current. I prefer the fierce expression and leanness. It feels more like a dragon to me. The new one has a smug expression, is chonkier with a shorter tail and admittedly cuter, but I don't think that suits the pet.
I don't like the lack of detail on the new one, personally. Prefer the old.

the proposed is super cute and more pet-like (fluffy, softer colors, not as pointy) and fills the allotted space better. the chonkiness is cute and with more shading/detailing, i wouldn't mind this update. HOWEVER, i have to say that the expression on the current is much, much better than on the other. the proposed revamp looks like it's awkwardly grimacing, while the original is making a fierce snarl. all of this is just something to consider ! thanks for looking for user input ^_^
I think they were probably serious and meant that posting gifs of humans getting fat with the implication that it's sort of horrifying and embarrassing (which, any body change can be, and artists should be free to express those feelings, though fatness does get picked on the most) could be insensitive, though not intentionally malicious, ?
After looking at both versions for a few minutes the only thing I would really want to keep from the old version is the shading. The new one looks flatter for some reason. Most other changes look okay so far.
I like the eyes on the old one more, and the new one seems to be missing some detail? It seems more simplistic, especially the face and the tufts of fur on the joints. Both are nice though, the old one is just more fierce looking, which I like.

Am I correct in assuming at least part of the point of these revamps overall is to make the site's "major art" look more uniform as a whole, which makes sense especially if the goal is to make Subeta more "professional"? Anyway, I also agree with the general sentiment that a more 1:1 facelift of the original would be preferable. Either way there's always customization, though.
I think most of what I would have said about what could be improved in the new one has already been said. But--after just skimming over the comments and not reading all of them--I didn't see anyone address the tuft of fur on its side. The lines look out of place, like they're just there because the artist was trying to copy the old one. But the lines on the old one are smaller, more subtle, and follow the curve of the body more, and it seems to be outlining a muscle. On the new one it just looks like a randomly placed tuft of fur sticking out. An adjustment to shading and highlighting might help, but I think it would be better left out altogether.
I'm also not sure if anyone mentioned that it would be better for the legs and head to be posed/angled more like they are in the current version as a way of making it look more dynamic and less just-floating-in-place.
I prefer the look of the old version more, since it looks more fierce and dragon-like. The new version makes me think of my cat, in that the shading makes it looks more soft and I would want to go up to it and give it all the cuddles – not something you tend to think of doing when it comes to dragons.
Facial expression on the current is better in my opinion.
i really like the new one! it's so much softer and the shading is lovely! I am totally behind the proposed revamp!

ive seen several comments mention fatphobia, which is absolutely ridiculous. there are plenty of chubby pets/characters on this site and no one has a problem with that. when mentioning how chubby the new revamp is, its people specifically referring to the fact that it's body shape has changed from the original version, and not ohh omg its so fat i hate fat people and think fat is bad. to say other wise is purposefully misconstruing peoples words.
also on the subject of fat animals. yes, certain animals do retain weight and fat, generally when its required for their lifestyle. IE bears. actual overweight animals are rare, and generally caused by humans overfeeding them. IE cats and dogs. these animals have joint issues and a host of other problems on top of that. why do you think you see so many articles about cats and dogs having to do water aerobics and the like? why do you think there is suggested feeding size based on an animals weight on the back of pet food bags? its because being overweight is not natural or healthy for them. taking human problems and shoving them onto animals, as if animals know if your so called 'fat shaming' them or not, is ridiculous. and certainly even more ridiculous for a bunch of pixels of a made up animal that already had a concrete design.
The new version looks nice, but I prefer how sleek the current version looks. So my vote at the time is: Keep the current version
It's not that I dislike the new one, but it just.... doesn't really read as a dragon, to me? It looks more like a fantasy cat, wolf, type thing, which again wouldn't be bad if it was a completely new species, but it doesn't look like a Paralix to me. The old one very clearly reads as a dragon... I agree, I prefer it.

Please don't change it to that. I don't think they need to put on weight, I think the feet and pose of the new one actually takes away from it's appeal, and the hair/fur on the current one has better detail. If any pet needs new art it would be the Keeto.
I don't mind the shading on the newer one, but I do echo the sentiments that overall the new one does look a bit too plump/soft. I'm someone who generally prefers cutesy, soft pets so the paralix is not a pet I would consider either way. But the old one looked fierce, sharp, and very much what I would expect from an eastern dragon. The new one looks like it's still trying to be intimidating but falling short. I'm also not a huge ran of the whisker placement on the proposed design. That being said, I want to give my regards to the artist because I do appreciate their skills and their hard work! I just think it could be executed better
I prefer the current design. I wasn't happy about Serpenths becoming cute and chonky a few years back, and I'm not going to be happy about Paralix (potentially) getting the same treatment. Please leave my angry noodles alone!
The old one looks much better to me. It's nice and slim as you'd expect of something that flies around and has good detail on the fur, mane and even the teeth and the eyes are more intense. The new design is too chubby, the grin is cartoonish, the fur looks like one big clump and even the whiskers are much harder to see and are all over the place. Current one is superior.
throwing in my 2 cents, i prefer the current one; it's slim and fierce! (I do like 's redline though)
the Old version is the way to go, the new one is just to . . .plush like and almost toyish, I would say keep the old version personally
i'm "meh..." on the new version as if it looks a tad plump and not enough shading, the high definition look is great tho the old version looks cooler
There's not much to be said that hasn't already. Frankly it seems that the current design is the clear favorite, and I agree. It's a dragon, we all think of it as a dragon, and if we wanted a chunky dragon we'd get a Rreign or something. The Paralix has more Eastern influence so it would make sense that its design is more Eastern. It's like a the first time you learn a Dragonair evolves into Dragonite. Sooooo disappointing and ugly.

I think the mane, smile, and horns on the newer one are better.... but the old paralix is still quite lovely. surely there are better pets to focus on?
Hasn't this pet already been revamped once already??? It doesn't need another revamp. I prefer the current design anyways; the newer one looks chubbier and the shading isn't deep enough so it also looks flatter. I say keep the current design because it honestly still looks wonderful. I have entirely too many things to nitpick about the proposed revamp lol.
the current design is honestly perfect tbh, the proposed one looks flabby and weird. its horns are so short too?? the current one has great horns.
The newer one looks too soft and dog-like like that "pet lab whos eaten too many table scraps" comment. The older one looks better still.

Don't fix what ain't broke. The current one has the fierce look that I love, while the new one is flabby with no real sustenance. The new one looks like it just ripped a loud fart that everyone heard, and is smiling embarrassingly saying "Yeah, that was me....sorry about that....".
oh god, that neo update absolutely ruined my life and i left the site almost immediately after. that ugly fist up pose on every singe pet, it destroyed me. my oldest pet here is from 2013, i would be devastated if it had a revamp that i didnt like or want. its my oldest pet for a reason! and i agree with you on visual aesthetics, im only on two other pet sites, and thats primarily because i hold every pet site up to subetas standards, especially when it comes to pet and avatar art. its such an important part of why im here in the first place.
I like the slightly softer face of the new one but it looks... fat. Less dragon-y, more mammalian. The original is more sleek, like a sports car. I also like the wilder hair on the original one.
I thought this creature was supposed to be long and sleek. What's the appeal of making it more boxy and heavy? I'm all for a cute chonk but this guy is just kind of bulky. Kind of ruins the distinctive shape of the creature IMHO. (All the love to the artists, but this is a miss for me.)
There are elements I like in both, which makes it hard to pick a favorite.
I like the fiercer facial expression in the original. The newer one looks more mischievous.
I like the back frills, shading, and details on the tail in the newer.
I like the more lithe, and longer appearance in the original. I think the newer looks too soft and almost like a plushie rather than a real animal.
Tbh, I really like the older one because it looks more devious, like it's scheming something, the newer one looks a little meh

I am not an artist, so my comments are not educated. I just think the current Paralix is more appealing. Don't change it.
The new one just looks like the detail lines have been spaced out, making it look more plasticky. The torso is shaded weird and lumpy, and the feet look like weird floppy sock grinch feet. I don't see a point in a redraw in the exact same pose.
