Friendly Challenger: Jim

We're a few weeks into January, folks, and I'm excited to see you all raring to go! Look, I know you're probably still getting through your holiday treats, and your body looks great whatever shape it is - but how about we get ourselves moving to keep our muscles active and our minds occupied? Have a little friendly fight with me and show me what that beautiful self of yours can do!

We have a new Friendly Fight set of challengers this year! Can you figure out how to unlock Jim to begin the battle mood?

well now i'm all kinds of confused because also unlocked jim, and their post in the battle chat said all their pets were finished training p;

(i also peeked at their shared outfits -- i don't share any clothes with them, either)

I'd never done any battle quests before, ever. I completed some battle quests one by one and unlocked Jim after completing my 5th battle quest! :)

It legit makes me smile to see you around the boards because of your HA. Although tbh I'm sad to learn it's a chicken HAT and not your actual head.

hmmm...I just went to the training center and unlocked him. I have 5 pets, none were training at the time, nothing special in inventory

Yea, I did NOT have a pet that was done (but was currently training, blue box), but Amberglow did. However, I checked after my pet had finished training (green box) and still did not unlock him. :/

Didn't work

Put one of my "weakest" (he's had no training at all) pet in training (for Level, obvs). Also put one of my weakest pets that had had some training in a session for strength.

thank you!! [spoiler = nope]i tried seeing if wearing an item with holiday item rarity would trigger it but it didnt. i also tried having a variety of sweets and pies in my inventory and that didn't do anything.[/spoiler]

so specifically you DON'T have any pets that are DONE training? no green boxes? but did have pets who were done/have the green background?

thinking about it, it shouldn't require more than one pet since some people only have one. i highly doubt it's inventory/avatar/active pet related -- i only share with 's avatar, my inventory was just battle quest rewards and new year tokens, and my active pet is my strongest (who isn't in training)

I dunno. I had 1 pet in training and 17 not training and didn't get it, while my partner had like, 9 pets finished training and 1 pet not and did unlock him.

I also cleared out my inventory of all food items and tried making my weakest pet my active. Neither worked.

i got him

...when i visited the training center after the post went live. i have 43 pets; three were in training (blue boxes), six were not (red boxes), and 34 were finished (green boxes). maybe you need a mix of pets in and out of training? i was in the middle of battle quests (finished level 7 with a pet currently in training) but i don't think that's relevant

My partner unlocked him, so I asked them. They don't have anything in their inventory except discount cards and minion traps, all of which are locked. They also don't have anything special on their avatar, but the list is on their profile if you're interested in checking.

he's not a secret challenger? he's on the normal tab. (speaking of, psst , kain is taller than the rest of the secret challengers. i remember you fixing... batista? to be short, so should kain be short too?)
