He doesn't say much, but don't be fooled into thinking that means he doesn't feel much either. Mathis is a deeply caring soul to those that he has formed a relationship with. Someone like Mathis is the most dependable friend you could expect to have! Plus he puts up the BEST shelves. Your pet hipottu could sleep on them, they're so sturdy!

Mathis doesn't fight out of anger. He's more the kind of guy to break up a fight. The only thing likely to get him to lash out is being confronted with the one thing he spends his life trying to avoid. If you can find out what that is and unlock Mathis as a challenger, be gentle! He doesn't mean to hurt you. But he WILL hurt you.

Its pet month, he has an Archan and gives and Archan-themed prize, wiki says "He has a soft spot for cats" so yeah

I don't know how up to date his wiki page currently is, but this statement was on there: "He has a soft spot for cats and is currently dating Victoria Ventura."

Going by the battle loot Archanvil and the news post I'm guessing something that reminds him of his pet? Tried stuff with cuddle and even captain because I'm too dumb to think something smart and it obviously didn't work.

Also, gonna try breaking a weapon now.

I tried wearing snow items since...a forge would be hot and SAI is up near the Arctic Frost so maybe he doesn't like the cold??? I brought him some booze because that makes people fight I had an item with "tears" and also a sad face ring in my inventory because he doesn't like to fight out of anger I had a "broken heart" item I tried an airplane and a rocketship item because maybe he's afraid of flying I guess? but no

Tried putting on every gun and pistol I owned in the wardrobe. As well as a few swords. Nope. If it's something to do with his past in the SAI, then I was guessing weaponry, but nope. I also think confrontation is a good fear, but I don't know how to trigger that. Anyone made a new friend or blocked someone?

Yeah, it mentions the thing he tries to avoid, and it also says he doesn't really like fighting. So maybe trying to pick a fight with him somehow even though he doesn't want to, eventually he'll give in and fight to make you go away? But I don't really know how to incorporate that into an action that would unlock him. ;~;
