Greetin's t' ye, me hearties! We noticed ye landlubbers be nice 'n busy while we been out at sea, releasin' that sea witch 'n all. Ahm not sure thank ye be the proper word thar. Ahm not sure ye wants t' know wha' th' word we’d like t' use be.

Anyhaps, th' crew be back fer our yearly trade 'n wit' a shipment o' crackin’ treasures plundered from nigh 'n far. As usual, we be ‘ere fer 10 days afore we lift anchor 'n we be tryin' t' keep Carl away from our loot so he can’t go givin' our wares away in his quests. Ahm not sure how successful we be, seein' as our muscle be now callin' 'im ‘Uncle Carl’ ’n lettin' 'im cubsit little Brunhilde and Bloodhungry.

Translation: Hello, friends! We’ve had a splendid adventure upon the ocean this year, bumping into no other than Merana on our travels! How jolly exciting. I’m not sure we have the words for that, we’re really quite speechless about it.

Anyway, the crew is back for our yearly trade with a wonderful shipment of delightful treasures completely legally acquired from near and far. As usual, we’re here for 10 days before we have to get back to the open sea. Dear Carl is trying to be helpful by giving out our items in his quests, bless him. He’s been such a treasure since Angrybeard’s cubs were born. He’s not an inconvenience to us at all!

I like the idea of being able to vend more items, especially if it means I can get my hands on some of the retired items.

I mean the first day reference as the shop has just opened, we generally add more benefits to things later on. In the past, we started Carl giving out things via quest like on the 5th day. I'’m looking into a change to vending to make that more viable for some people (with the bonus of getting some wizard tokens out of the system yay), but that's not a thing that goes out in the first post of a holiday. I personally can’t make the shop restock more, that’s more of a cron thing and I need to talk with Grace for that to happen, but thank you for the suggestions!

: It's not just me who's unhappy with the way this shop works. If you can't live with the idea of not having it restock, you could maybe restock it more frequently or with larger quantities of items. Because five minutes ago, I clicked on the shop and there in green were the words "Restocked Now!" and underneath it the words "There are no items stocked in this shop." This really should not be happening even on the first day of a site holiday that is supposed to be fun for everyone.

I understand that you don't feel that way, and you can run the site however you want. But it looks to me like a lot more people are expressing frustration than any other feeling about the shop. I'm a vendor, and I make a lot of sP buying and selling rare items, but I would not be comfortable making humongous amounts of sP off items that rarely restock when they rarely restock in a shop that is only open for 10 days a year.

If you have suggestions on how to improve the holiday outside of just changing the shop to be like any other, please make a thread ! I (and staff) understand people can’t be on all the time. Like I said a bit below, I’m up for changes that help those out that can’t do the restocking portion. I'd love some sort of thing to have people work together, like when we did the scavenger hunt a few years back where users made a thread helping each other out. Those are the types of things we love.

Keep an eye on the news this week, there are other things that happen too. :)

Happy for you! If I force myself to spend time there I can actually snag like 2 of the unwanted items But what I mean is that chances are not even here We have moms playing, people who work all day, people who are sick, who just dont have the time The fun of holidays is everyone playing together, kissing or dancing, and honestly I wouldnt call this a holiday

Just saying those things to speak my mind, i know nothing will change and I know that there are people who enjoy it, but I am not one, and I believe this is the place to speak

That's why we do things like bring the items out via Carl, . :) This is also the first day. I'm all for suggestions on how to improve the holiday outside of making the shop exactly like every special shop we have. I've been toying with adding the tag we use for Carl to Oceans Depth so all the pirate items for sure go out (even retired). Things like that, I'm up for.

All it takes is patience, practice, and luck. I used to suck at restocking Freyalise and never got any items, but now I can get quite a few items over the span of the holiday. Not saying it's easy, but it's definitely doable, even when you're not able to be online very much!

I am a vendor, I make usually 1-5m SP per day.

I just think there's room for improvement between "not all holidays have to be the same" and "I know what would be great for a holiday, let's recreate the atmosphere of Black Friday at Walmart!"

I never said that it does give you the same chance. I said that Carl gives you a chance at unretired items we didn’t unretire for the shop and a chance at new items. Some people might restock quite a few things, some might only grab one from the shop. Some people get very lucky via Carl and get all new items from his quests while some people just get old items or not even any pirate related things. Carl’s quests are just another way to try to get the new items.

lol I enjoy restocking. But the shop restocks very rarely or is either empty respectively holding only things that are cheaper in user shops than at the shop.

I always try to do Carl's quest, he's great, but do you really -honestly- think that 10 quests a day will give me the same chances of getting items as experienced restockers with rocket fast internet? Or someone who just have the time and patience to refresh 2 hours straight at the shop?

Because if every holiday was exactly the same it wouldn’t be any fun at all. Some people enjoy restocking. You can still do quests to get some of the items (some that don’t even restock!) or try your hand at vending. The shop isn’t the only way to get items for this holiday. Try questing with Carl! You’ll get a chance at items that I didn’t untretire this year for the shop, too. It’s a good idea to do his quests during quest-a-thons etc too when we do the bonus weekend for all thing because he gives out pirate items (while other quest givers will give out their particular holiday stuff).

Why is this not run like all the other holiday shops? The part where it's empty and you have to wait for restocks because all the people with fast internet are glomping everything is not "part of the fun".

Yeah I wasn't sure, but I guess it could just be the general trope I guess. It just struck an odd sense of familiarity/nostalgia when I read the description for it, but I have no idea why.

I am not sure actually ! I kinda thought it was either a nod to The Last Unicorn (like they did with the Underground's The Lost Skeleton) but also "never-shutting-up" skulls are pretty common in works of fiction.
