Highest amount of damage I've done is 55 and after that, 6 turns with 0 damage. I'm taking a break. Good luck to the people that do way more damage. :)

Yes, it will ! So long as you do at least 1hp damage, it doesn't matter how much he heals. You will still get the achievement.

Global bosses like Jaxon are NEVER required for plot completion. No one is required to battle, but all help is welcome! Anyone who even attempts to battle Jaxon will get something out of it (outside of a beaten-up pet)!
I'm just going to give in - last five goes I've done no damage and he's just healed. :( I'll leave it for the elite people who actually bother to level their pets.

It cost me 1887sp to heal and i've hit him 4 times He has 196914862 hp i have 629 LOL :) falls over laughing..i did 110 damage he did 3324 damage and he healed 750 so i'm not doing anything to him at all....i'm just throwing my sp away and my Total Battles: 705 Wins: 692 Losses: 10 Ties: 3 View Pet Stats now shows i lost 5 more battles.:( oh well hope i tasted bad when he munched me.LOL

I hear you, a lot of people who have pets at level 2,000 are going to find this a lot more satisfying than one's that never make it past the first round. I'm in the same boat, none of my pets are above tier 1, and the most damage I've done was 53. But I feel like the difference is that it does feel like participating to me. I'm helping other people beat this challenger, even if I've only knocked 400hp off his health bar. So if fighting isn't your thing and you participate in plots just for prizes, I get how this could be annoying. But I don't get why people say that they can't finish the plot now.

Unfortunately that's what I'm doing and it's still not letting me fight anyone.
I understand everyone when they say it's a group opponent that we're fighting, but as I said, I am not a battler and even when I attempt to fight I leave absolutely no damage, I've attempted 3 times so it's not like I didn't even /try/. My pets are the lowest of the low, I don't know what weapons would actually help me. So yeah, this is disappointing that I can't participate 'cause nothing I could do would result in anything.
