Ah, okay. It's cool, and you didn't really come off as rude to be honest. When I was talking about Henna I was referring to the pet and not the plant. xD;

then why don't we just nix commenting on spotlight news posts forever? these types of comments have happened before, they're happening now, and they're probably going to happen in the future.

was i talking directly to you? no. gtfo

...When did anyone say that they disliked the pet?! I was only questioning what the story behind Henna was as well as the lack thereof!

and ....yeah, because sarcasm can totally be distinguished in text at all times. Seriously though, it can't.

I apologize if I sounded rude when I linked that page, I honestly did not intend to. I was under the impression that you weren't familiar with what henna was and I was honestly just trying to help shed some light on the pet for you.

Congrats, Joanna!

Hm, I guess people forgot there's a Feedback and a Suggestions forum to express thoughts about what should be in a pet spotlight entry or not?

sarcasm is difficult to locate in text

It's sarcasm Please don't take everything you read on the internet so seriously. You might go into cardiac arrest. Stop anti-whiteknighting, srsly.

No one is whiteknighting here. I'm not sure how many times it needs to be explained that the pet spotlight is simply not the place to express your dislike of pets that don't have a story/have too much of a story/don't have an overlay/are gay/aren't gay/are depressing/are too happy or whatever bug has crawled up your butt this week.

..Yes, Henna could be representing the plant. She could also be representing the kind of long-lasting tattoo as well, or something entirely unrelated to those two. Thing is, we don't really know for sure. Only the owner does, and that representation is not put out in an understandable way (to me, anyway). I was aware the whole time that henna is a kind of plant, but judging by the profile, I do not believe that the plant has anything to do with the pet at all. I still would love to know more about the pet.

HATERS 2 DA LEFT

Seriously, I second Corgi. I don't get why people get their panties in a wad every time a pet doesn't have a story. If it were your pet, then maybe you'd find it prudent to write a story. Obviously, JoAnna didn't, and her pet still won. There is something to be said for the theme that presents itself.

Corgi has all of the eloquences, I agree with her completely. Congrats on the win Jo, you totally deserve it, Henna is gorgeous!

Wikipedia is pretty useful

Well I'm sorry that I'd just like to know more about the pet than what I see on the page, I suppose. I'd like to know the inspiration behind her as well as what Henna represents as a whole, and I just cannot get that from the 'silent story'. It is a gorgeous profile and the pet is beautiful, and nowhere did I say that I did not appreciate the pet.

And it's well-understood that writing is not everyone's strong suit, but even a small paragraph could have shed more light on the pet. All I was asking for was some more information, as I would absolutely love to learn more about Henna.

Also, nobody here ever said that she didn't deserve the win. Please stop putting words in people's mouths.

As a vehement writer and supporter of quality pet stories: I'm disappointed in everyone clamoring for a story. In fact, I question anyone who considers themselves a storyteller and complains about this—are you so unimaginative that you need everything spelled out for you? Can you really not appreciate a quieter theme? Why can't a pet be "art for art's sake"?

There's no reason Henna (or Stimulant, or Ham, or any of the other many pets that haven't had explicit written stories) doesn't deserve this win, just look at the clear effort that has been put into her.

Writing is not everyone's strong suit. The spotlight should not cater to writers. Silent stories can be some of the best.

5 bux esbreeon is gonna get bluhbluh'd at.

Anyways....

yeah I dont know, but! Story is a nice thing to have, even majority of paintings and drawings you can easily tell whats going on in it. Unless its picasso, then thats something different.

I like the overlay though

I don't know, I think story should be a requirement all the time. It's... confusing and sometimes rather annoying when a pet wins and there's no story for them, explaining who they are and what kind of personality that they just might have. Not all the time can such things be found out by simply looking at a treasure chest or an overlay, so the text helps out a whole lot.

...In fact, I actually have no idea what this pet is all about. I suppose Henna is from somewhere in the Middle East or South Asia judging by a few items in her TC as well as the name of her minion, but other than that, it's absolutely confusing to me.

Congrats, Jo! This has been one of my favorites since I saw the overlay.

And fwiw, I think a well thought out treasure chest or theme IS a story of it's own. If you have to have words for a story or have to have it spelled out specifically, you need to look at more paintings and photographs.

Having a story is one of the requirements, but a pet don't have to meet ALL of the requirements in order to win. Several pets without a story won in the past.

Anyways , quite a nice overlay, a story would have been nice , but this is still a nice pet. Congrats !

Congrats Joanne! Henna's overlay is too cute!

After a pet has been nominated, staff will sort through the nominated pets using the following criteria:

* - Aesthetically pleasing profile
* - Well-thought-out story
* - Appropriate treasure chest
* - Appropriate minion

No where does it say that all of those criteria are required to win.
