Just having the banner disappear when the item is sold out would be a big improvement over how it is now. It's frustrating & disappointing to click on it to buy the item it's advertising, only to basically be told "lol you were too slow, it's sold out". That's the main reason why I blocked the banner in the first place. :'|
Also heads-up: hitting the X on the hustler banner doesn't make it disappear on Kumos. It just pops up again on the next page/after refresh which adds to the frustration.
yes, i can get those things in!

If I do not want to buy item, I just click the X and boom, it is gone and does not come back... well, until the next time a new item is announced! Also, will be happy with banner, over ads anyday! Peace!
i dont mind the hustler notif but i just wish it would remove itself when the item is gone. ive clicked a few times only to see its sold out (and probably had been for a while)
it makes it really hard to actually be motivated to click it if its not accurate. i love getting deals from the hustler for collection items but if its not accurate it just becomes noise to me and i'm not gonna click it just because i assume i will be dissapointed
edit: oop just saw another person commented the same thing and keith responded, thanks for working on that! thats my biggest grievance with it right now
I think this should work now (it going away automatically when the last person makes a purchase).
I'm also going to make it a little less frequent!

This is probably a good place to mention that maybe you should leave a link to the Kumos Hustler on his legacy page.
So there's no way to just have it separate from other types of notifications so custom CSS won't disable everything?
Can we not just have a function to opt out entirely? I never buy from the Hustler so it's just a nuisance.
In the Kumos shoutbox, Keith said there will not be a way to turn them off:
So it sounds like no more Hustler notifications = no more Subeta, because they can't afford to keep the site running without the income he's generating.
No one's asking him to get rid of it entirely. We just want the option to not have to constantly bat away alerts that are of no interest to us.
He's referring to the notifications, not the Hustler's deals; sorry I wasn't clear about that. He's saying the alerts will not become optional, because they function as ads that apparently are making essential income for the site, even if a lot of us ignore them.
I was talking about the notifications. Keith's more than welcome to keep them, I just want out. Some compromise would be nice, like a panel on the news page that advertises the current deal and tweak to the code so I can CSS those specific alerts out of my life. That way, there's always a way for everyone to see what's available, but doesn't spam those who don't want to be spammed.
The second post in this thread has a CSS code to remove them for you personally on the "legacy" site, since, again, they will not be going away nor can you opt out of them, as has been stated.
that CSS removes all push notifications, including those for important announcements which I would still like to see. We shouldn't have to choose between all or nothing.
Folks seeing them when they don't want to see them is what drives people to make purchases that they wouldn't have already made. The stats on the hustler when the alerts work / are vs off are very different, and are one of the reasons we don't have to add 3 additional ad units to the site.
I wish I didn't have to make decisions like this and we could just run Subeta for free and pay everyone a fair wage, that unfortunately isn't the deal. We sometimes have to do things like push people into making purchases they wouldn't have otherwise have made.
The compromise we've made together is that there is a free website for you to play, and sometimes you might have an annoyance like the hustler ad. I hope that's a compromise you're willing to make.

It's a good compromise considering the situation, imo. People can always use the CSS if they're very annoyed by the banner, with the risk of missing potentially important site notifications.
idk if you're looking for feedback for bug-squashing/fine-tuning the banners, but eh, here goes anyway: clicking the X does not remove the Hustler notification on Kumos. Sadly, I can't tell you if the banner stops showing up on Kumos if the item has been sold out because I've yet to see an item get sold out. I can keep checking though!
(Also item hovers are broken on Kumos, idk if you're aware.)
Thank you! Item hovers should be resolved, I pushed out a fix a couple of minutes ago.
And hmm, clicking the X works for me now, and makes it go away. Let me figure out why it's not wokring for you.

idk if you've pushed any changes, but the banner on Kumos is still showing up despite the item being sold out. Clicking the X makes it go away for me now, but only if I disable my adblocker (uBlock Origin, for Firefox). Is there something I need to whitelist?
