Heheh, the funny thing is my library science degree ended up going to waste. I just wasn't cut out to deal with the public. I ended up working for the PD for 20 years in clerical.

I would have been happier working down in the basement doing clerical work for the library. I still remember the head librarian letting me go and telling me I should have talked to her about a different position. I was thinking "You're the boss, you should have spoken to me." At the time I never even thought about asking for a change, I was too low on the totem pole.

Well, its a good thing she did say, something. So you could go in a different direction. Hopefully she didnt take forever to tell you.

LOL, it was so petty of him. The transcriptionists watched the back counter and helped officers if they needed something. I went back when he rang the bell and handed him a stapler he needed. I was headed back to work when he THREW the stapler at me and snarled that I needed to give him one with staples. I looked at the stapler on the floor, then at him, then I picked the stapler up, gave him another one and NEVER SAID ONE WORD TO HIM. His poor rookie was turning beet red out of sheer embarrassment.

Oh I would have ignored him, let him get his own stapler. Definitely would have reported him to human resources.

In all fairness, the bars prevented him from getting one. I didn't mind getting one, I wouldn't have minded getting him another one if he hadn't been so rude.

Your nicer than me, I dont get mad I get even. No matter how long it takes me. as a private in the army, I taught a 2nd lieutenant (officer) how to respect me. I was in a position that he needed me to get paperwork filled out and submitted, that would make him look good or bad to his superiors. If he looked bad, it wasnt on me. LOL

Oh he did, and I didnt have to say a word. He came in a hurry to submit some paperwork. I had a stack of papers to do, and his was only a priority in his realm not mine. I let him, see I put it on the bottom of the stack and he knew if he said, something to me. I could take forever out of spite. I did tell him, it would get done as soon as possible. I just didnt say when possible was. After that it was please, and thank you. When I left, he told me "I am sorry to see you go." Because he watched my work ethics, and knew he was wrong. Because he never saw me goofing off, I was always working.

nods I busted my buns at work too for years. Towards the end I was getting burnout and I was starting to doze off while typing. It was really ugly at the end. There were three of us getting close to 20 years and being vested and the admins started doing their best to make us quit. The three of us toughed it out, reached 20 years and then all retired at the same time.
