I'm a little sad about scrolls - whenever I sold (or was asked for) one, I built a new one or took it from my vault... I agree, Maleria never should have asked for challenger loot scrolls, though.
For Hustler, he just asked me for and it's priced at 88 mil. He can't keep asking for items already being bought out to force me to quit the only quest for the day.

Keith said he was going to disable the hustler quests :)
some updates, including a big one!

this update also means we can now spin up new npcs, shops, and quests super quickly. quests can pull items based on shops, labels, rarity, price, or type—way more precise than before. plus, reputation perks can boost quests (and other areas of the site soon!). it’s all coming together: a system that rewards consistency and helps with sP sinks.
🔜 coming soon: you’ll be able to convert quest points into a generous amount of sP so nothing goes to waste. stay tuned!

Could we get item type filters for the quest shops?
Like wearable, plushie, beanbag, book, etc
could we get a link to the wizard NPC shop on the kumos wizard quest page? right now it has a broken quest shop link
big fan of being able to buy quest shop items with sP now :)
Okay I've read/skimmed through most of this over the last 2 hours, have some thoughts:
I like the idea of lots of different NPCs to get reputation with. More numbers to make go up, and the flavor text has been fun to read through, will be fun to see how that changes as rep grows with each. Goes hand in hand with fomo sadness/anxiety of not being able to interact with all of them all the time, but sounds like that's the point?
Wondering if "only X% of users do all their quests every day" accounts for the fact that you get locked out of sarah's and therefore can't easily do hers and therefor "all" the quests, and if that includes major drills and battle quests which are a different mechanic. More interested in how many people do 50% or more of the quests at least 50% of the time, as that seems more reflective of typical users who's play time might vary through the week and have preference for certain quests over others.
How to make shinwa different AND a way to appease the "this is so easy its boring now" thoughts on quests: Can we use the item tagging system? She asks for a 'pink' item, a 'fancy' item, a 'pig' item, and then maybe it increases with 'spooky' AND 'masculine' item. To where there's not a single right answer but the more time you spend poking around the more you can maximize your profits by finding the cheapest item to turn in that satisfies the quest? Maybe add in a few 'skip' options if she asks for something thats too unicorn to find?
Something I haven't really seen brought up, but, if the overall number of daily quests goes down I will be sad because that's the main way I interact with items. That's the main way I'm discovering things that I decide my pets would want in their inventories. That's the way I'm finding wardrobe items I don't have yet (so then I buy two, on for the quest and one for me), collectibles (ooo this plushie is afordable now time to buy an extra), or food my glutton pet hasn't eaten. The shop pages are overwhelming and don't have the hover info or wl borders to help, I'm mainly seeing item info when i do shop searches on quest items. I also like seeing if the shop i'm buying from is way cheaper than the next up shop, or if there's only a few of that item for sale at all, deciding if its worth it to buy in user shop or main shop depending on if I have the discount buff, etc. That's the way I interact with the economy, or at least, it feels the most like interacting with it. I get there might be ways to replace some of that with the new system, and some of that isn't end of the world, but figured I'd just let you know how the current quest system procks at least some of us to interact with the wider site.
Quest are also where I get the stuff I sell in my shop. If I'm getting less items to sell and people are buying less items for quests, won't I be making a lot less money, and therefor not be as able to buy more other types of items for non-quest reasons? I'm nervous we might cripple the site's economy, but maybe there are other factors you plan for to counteract that?
What's with the 6/3 thing next to the reputation bars? It goes down to 3/3 after completing the quests but its not intuitive at all. shouldn't it count up to 3?
Why are all the quests 30 minutes? Is that a thing that could change, some longer some shorter?
How are we supposed to access these quests? The top nav (subeta/social/commerce/....) doesn't seem to link to https://kumos.subeta.net/quests/ anywhere. Is this just sort of still in the testing phase where its hidden from casual users? If you're looking for more people to use/test them, that might help. I usually forget they exist unless they get mentioned somewhere.
Also hoping there's some way to pay homage? to those of us who did max out the quest achievements, but i know achievements in generalis something else you're looking at entirely so maybe that'll be moot.
I just looked at the prices and was glad, I was sitting. Are those prices truly envisioned for the cheap stuff? Then what will seasonal items cost (60 - 65 QP)? I was expecting something like 10-30 k for the regular stuff. Now the cheapest NPC book is 250k!
Esp. comparing current quest payout - everybody around 5k, which often enough doesn't even cover shop prices (with discount card and buff!) So no way to make any money from those as they are now.
I saw and so did Saggi - same. If you don't own any of the stuff (in my case everything expensive in user shops) he asks for, the profit is generally pretty measly - of course, only 3 quests to look at so far.
Btw. could it be made, that "use from inventory" is not greyed out? I hate having to refresh the page PLUS then click all the boxes.
Wow, congrats on getting that achievement, that is a lot of quests! 👏 I'm hoping to make it easier to show off your big accomplishments like that on the new user profiles. if you check out your profile on kumos.subeta.net, you'll see an unfinished achievement block. I want you to be able to choose your favorites to display there. I'm not hoping to get rid of achievements at all, just make it feel like an ... achievemen! when you get one.
I also love hearing that you like seeing new / interesting items while you're working through the quests. I'm having that same feeling as I'm going through the item tagger, seeing a ton of items I haven't seen in years, or have never seen.
I'm still adding more of the quests, but trying to work through features as I'm adding them. For example today Saggitarius was added, and with him came the ability to target requests by label -- now the quests can be really targeted (like that Shinwa quest you outlined!) and have more specific sP goals as well. You'll notice that this quest only gives sP as a prize - and there might be more like it coming up, where the prize is just sP. Something that encouraged me with Maleria asking for scrolls is the increase (like, 500%) in people using the scroll making feature, maybe even for the first time, to hand in those quests to make a profit. We can use quests to guide people around the site! That is all to say that right now we're asking for more items than we're giving, and we have a lot more control over both of those and can easily pump out more items from quests if that seems appropriate (and I don't mind that at all if we combine that with other site changes).
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback, I really appreciate it=

Saggi asked for a ... Was it supposed to be in the list of items?
[edit] OHhh well, he did reward me good!
biting for all strains!
So uh. Is Saggi supposed to be asking for the same 7m plushie in all three of his (rejected) quests? the other two items rotated, but no dice on the deep sea blue dragon plushie, yikes!
[egg=roadkill] | | [tp=roadkill]
Fyi he paid out well for it (I had a couple in my vault so I risked it, he only asked for one though)
I am concerned that he's artificially inflating prices for specific items, though - he also asked for a 7m minion from the BHH that according to subetalodge is typically worth 1.2m, and I bought the last one available in usershops!
sorry, i am confusion!? all quests show in the kumos page for me oTL are they all active? is this is for the future, bc right now i can only do 3 quests for the wizard, not even 5.
items i dont mind getting them bc they will go to my shop first, so either i sell for someone, i use it for future quests or i frag. win win all the way
fewer quests love less quests, but 3 seems waay low...
quest points/rng honestly i dont mind the bad rng, bc even if i dont quest and dont get points, i can always buy from others (18k up to 35k per point) never once in my life i said ~oh buggers, i dont have quest points!! but yay for new sp sink i guess
reputation seems interesting, considering less quests is something doable and doesnt hurt much if you forget/stay days w/o questing for any reason. but yeah 3 is no no
biting for all strains!
Did Maybel and Maleria yesterday evening, because the others hadn't reset - I feel their payouts were o.k.
My quest page shows Wizard and new Saggi, which I tried day before yesterday and there hasn't been a quest reset since then, plus Maybel, Maleria and Rumi. All still at 3 per day.
Your quote is from the very first day, a lot has been going on since then.
👋 just popping in to say i reset the quests.
i'm keeping an eye on the sagg quests today, and what he's asking for in particular. 👀

Saggi just asked me for an almost 13 million sP item. No way I trust any quest to reimburse me for that. Canceled. It is really, really disheartening to have to cancel quests when we only get three per day from each NPC! They're all going to have to be way more lucrative than this when the quantity is so limited or we'll never be able to afford anything on the site from now on. (Again, I expect...or at least hope...the prizes will be changed a lot by the time these really go live but I'm just saying, right now it's hard to feel comfortable about these quests replacing what we have now if they're going to be like this.)
He asked for twice, apparently i bought the last two... repeated items sucks tho!
He does give It back, like i paid 12-13m and got 18m
My quote is from OP, which keith can edit as he tweeks the feature, so still a valid question =)
But I think i got It, its 5 NPCs with ALL being 3 quests each, i thought Wizard would be 5 quests
biting for all strains!
Oh, that's interesting! I appreciate the info!
After getting burned for several million on some of the other new quests though, I don't want to risk that much again. I'm just not into high-stakes gambling, it's too much like all that RNG stuff that I thought we were trying to get away from.
It sure is a valid question, it only sounded to me, as if you were a newcomer to the topic, so was trying to be helpful and not seem derogative, sorry.
not quite, i`ve been lurking! however english is not my first language, so i was confused after re-reading! (ngl my mind skipped some of the text)
i feel you on that!
i think the quests are shaped after the npc nature and im not so sure on the balance atm it doesnt feel rewarding doing the quests, rather something you are aiming for in the future (the more you do, you can buy better things in their shops - which are the quest shop points)
honestly i still think 3 quests for the wizard is too low, i do prefer a daily 350 wizard tokens than only 45! =( saggitarius feels ok with the higher payout bc legacy quests payout totals around 3m to 4m
biting for all strains!
