Umm I don't remember if you did? Down south where?? I wear pants here all the time. But I'm used to it lol

So I am here at work for our last week and my lead teacher for the summer got asked by the custodians around recess time (9am) to move all the stuff in her room to one side so they can clean the floor, they will move the stuff to the other side to clean the other half. So all day after recess, I am with the other para and a sub teacher in the other room. It took my teacher maybe an hour to move that stuff, and she's still not in here with us. Not that we need her, we only have 10 kids and three adults is more than enough but honestly?? It's her job to be with us. Most of the time since lunch (11am) she's just been sitting at her desk alone in the room. And now if she's not in there I bet she's in the library as she's been just about every day since the program started. Again, not a big issue but annoying to me as in my opinion she is not doing her JOB

We're going to Spartansburg, SC the first night, Atlanta and then Albany, GA the next day, Montgomery, AL and Selma after that, Selma and Montgomery again the next day, Montgomery and Birmingham the next day, Birmingham and then Nashville the next day, Nashville and Bristol, TN the day after that, and then home.

Civil Rights journey, Lily got invited to go, the church paid everything for her, including her spending money, but she was the only youth to end up going, so she needed another female under 18 or a family member to go with.. so I got volunteered. My MiL is giving me spending money though, because uh.. we really don't have it LOL.

That would be annoying. Like, yeah, OK, you don't NEED her, but she SHOULD be there!

Ooh yeah I think maybe I remember you mentioned Lily getting to do that, but I guess I forgot all about it. WOW busy itinerary!! You'll be so close to me! I am 45minutes from Atlanta and about two from Albany I think.... :P

EXACTLY! :P The poor para next door is only like 21 or 22 and I'm not sure how long she's been a para but she's still pretty shy and always asking if she's doing the right thing and what is next, what time do we do the next thing and like - I don't know if she just DOESN'T WANT to be responsible or really doesn't remember times of activities or what - but she has also told me she pretty much ran her classroom last year because her lead teacher was out sick for months and then when they came back they kind of took over handling one "problem" child and left her to continue running the class (or maybe the problem child was a different year, but either way) - I know she IS capable, she just kind also seems like she isn't....if you know what I mean????

I got an email today, time to renew my DECAL scholarship! YAY. Gotta find all the paperwork I need now - FUN.

EDIT July 8th 410pm Got an email to send in my practicum documentation by Aug 1st. So I went on and sent it in too ;) GO ME. Getting ahead. I also took the chance/time to talk to Dr Beardon (PreK director) as she was at our site today - about how close I am to finishing and that in a year she can look for me to be a PreK lead teacher hehehe She sounded very excited for me (who really knows tho, because this woman is STRANGE sometimes) and said she'd keep an eye out for any PreK openings and keep me updated. I'll also begin looking during spring semester to see whats available myself. I would prefer to stay at my school, I KNOW a kinder teacher is retiring at the end of next year and I could probably be a shoe-in for that spot, but I really prefer to stay PreK - I'm worried if I go Kinder I won't get back to PreK.

Gah, I'm so sad! Leaving tomorrow around 2, and coming home just in time for the storm to end :(

I wish we had more free time, it would have been so cool if we could have met up!

Kinder is pretty fun too, still cute, but they know a little more :P

I think its just that I am the type of person that really thrives on knowing what I am doing. Like - I like the same things to happen. I like my routine, and to have regular (same old same old) happenings. Moving to Kinder would be a change :P I would adjust, tho....I just would prefer NOT to have to. I would do good there, once I adjusted, its very regulated... Kinder is WAY different than PreK, here. Much more regimented and curriculum oriented - like you HAVE to do this this this and ONLY this....where in PreK its more like what I've been learning about, adapting to the kids, helping them socialize, learning how they learn, etc. I really didn't like how they HAD to learn in Kinder when I observed it. They are little still and should still be learning like the PreK kids do. All this higher level learning isn't good, not for most of them, I feel (Like, Kinder is like 1st grade used to be now, and PreK is the old Kinder)

Hmm yeah, fun winter things happening for the next week or so. Fun Fun. I'll try to remember to get on as much as I can for it...Does your travel bus have wi-fi, or do you have a decent phone internet/data? At least while travelling you could get on some? I also wish you'd had more time during your bus trip, I'd have happily come to meet up with you somewhere nearby! (Of course, now I am planning to leave Monday and go visit down south, so there is that too) LOL Hope you guys have a great time!

That.. is all fair criticisms, I get it!

also the wifi on the bus was awfulllll LOL. I had pretty good data, enough so that I could do the token shop, but I just can't quest on my phone. Also, I can never get back to the news without typing. Subeta mobile is the worsttttt LOL.

thank you so much by the way, for the firs thalf of the trip I had awful ads that covered up the entire token shop LOL. You saved me <3<3<3

How was everyone's week?!

Welcome home - glad you had a great trip. I enjoyed seeing all the posts and reading about where you went and what you learned!!

I totally get not doing much on the phone on here. Its not easy. I can do quests, but only because I have CSS that spaced the quests out instead of them being squished together. It took me a while (and Wesleys help) to figure it out. Its still not easy. I bookmarked subeta news page on my mobile web so when I open google chrome, it shows me my link :P Makes it easy to renavigate to the home/news page.

Honestly the token shop restocks weren't great for me. I think I got two food items and one book that I needed before the things sold out. And most other times I checked there just wasn't anything I wanted. Which is fine too I guess but also a bit disappointing. I'm sure lots of others got TONS of things they needed tho, since there was a lot of good stuff (just not stuff I wanted).

Tomorrow I go back to WORK :o Gasp. I have a dentist appointment first. (At 8am, first apt of the day so I hope to get in/out fast). I may have to "make up" some of my time if the apt takes longer than I expect, but thats ok. I thought the building stayed open later in the afternoons but the email says it closes at 430, so if I'm not at work by 830 I'll have to make up time (I probably will have to, oh well, I DID email my principle and tell him I had a dentist apt and I THOUGHT I could get my 8hrs but would let him know when I arrived at work) and we will figure it out from there.

We have NEVER since I've lived here gone back to school in July. The earliest was Aug 1st. We went back many times on Aug 3rd because I remember feeling bad that Nathan had to start school ON his birthday - and we've gone back as late as like Aug 15. (Thats been a while). Normally its within the first 7 days of August. So it being JULY (even if the LAST DAY of it) Is just WEIRD!! I guess its just how the calendar lined up this year or something. A lot of times we get to "vote" on which calendar we approve, but this time it just got sent out to us. Open House is Monday. I can't remember what date we have our parent orientation, so I'll need to ask, in case Nathan has to work that day. (I can run home and take him tho and then drop the car later if I need to because we normally do orientation at like 6pm)

[edit] 530pm Made it through my first day back. Got to work only THREE MINUTES late, so yeah! Stayed an extra 5min as I was on the phone when it was time to clock out hahaha (Not sure why they weren't kicking us out at 430 like they said tho, who knows! My lead teacher was STILL there as I left) Got my bulletin board started, all the shelves wiped clean (dust, dirt etc), the furniture was in place as the lead teacher came in on Friday last week to do letters to kids and stayed and did that part, started putting some items away where they belong, got the kids cubbies cleaned out and set up - now she just needs to decide what type of name tags we are putting on them. Tomorrow we have professional development, in person in the morning and virtual in the afternoon (yay, sarcastically).

Oh WOW. That's so cool!

Also.. when do the kids go back, again? We actually have professional development Thursday, then Alex, Lily, Iz and I are leaving for another long weekend of camping, so that's exciting!

I've got a while? Heck no I don't - its practically tomorrow the kids start hahahah!! (Ok a bit more than tomorrow but its SOON) only three more days of planning before kids come!

Teachers and PreK paras go back the same time, all of preplanning. Kinder paras and other paras in the school came in Thursday, but then not Friday, and they come in regularly starting today. But PreK paras do the same days/hours as teachers. So I get a few extra days of work in the year. So I think we had 7 days of Preplanning? We went in last Tuesday, and the kids come this Thursday....so Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri and then Mon, Tues, Wed for preplanning. On Wednesday (last week) we had professional development classes, and on Thursday (last week) we had the "Education Celebration" - preplanning pep rally for school staff type of thing lol and we also held our PreK Parent Orientation night (that was a LONG day!) Today is open house.

We have decorated the door and board outside in the hallway - its "travel" themed for our "adventure" theme - so we have like green grass, blue sky background, (blue door), and then on the board it says "Let Our PreK Adventure Begin" and then I put up diecut cars, trucks, boats, trains, hot air ballons, etc. and some road signs - some of the cars have things like "Specials" "Recess" "Storytime" "Math" on them, and a few of the road signs too. One road sign says "PreK 314" (our room number) to represent a REAL road sign, like you know, GA 20 or I-75 for example lol I think its cute. The door has "Your Passport to Adventure" on it, and then will have pictures of passport covers that have the kids names on them. (she has to print those out still) We have similar transportation themed name tags to go on the cubbies, in the closets and on the tables, and suitcases that we will be using for name tags for their lunch choices and helper name tags. Very cute. ALL of that (the name tags) has to be put up still, the teacher still had to print them all out, but at least she has decided on something!!

It does sound very cute!

Uhhh.. our teachers go back 2 days before the kids do, though they can get into the building most times in the summer to decorate, but they get paid year round anyway so it doesn't matter really?

And paras all go back.. the first day of school. That's it. They may have a professional development day, but I haven't heard about it from any of my friends who are paras, so maybe not?!

Oh really? That is so different. No wonder you think I have a while before kids!!

Teachers have always had preplanning and post planning days here, even when my kids were in school....the amount of days sometimes vary but its usually at least a week. - I am a "190" day employee, but the kids usually have about 180 days of school, so that leaves 10 days for pre/post planning days. Teachers can sometimes get into their rooms before preplanning, but it depends on what floors the custodians have worked on (they wax over the summer and don't want people walking on them or moving furniture right after they've waxed). The principal and a few other workers (besides the custodians) are the only ones at the school pretty much year round. I think they have the week of the 4th of July off and I'm not sure otherwise - UNLESS the school is hosting a summer program, like I worked.

I woke up in the middle of the night. Ugh. Late night last night due to open house, I was fine tho, went to bed around 10 like always. Woke up at 1am and was just really achey - especially my arm for some reason (the one thats bugged me for years) and so I got up and took tylenol. Took a while to fall back asleep and didn't wake until almost 630!! Now I've got to LEAVE!! :P Feel like I barely had any time this morning since I "slept in". LOL

Oooh I hate that, when your morning routine is messed up! It really messes with the whole day!

Also.. I swear, subeta hates me. Guess when I'm leaving for camping? And guess when they're starting the event.. AGAIN?! LMAO.

At least I should be back before it's over this time. :P

At least this event isn't as crazy as the others, its mostly "buy stuff from the shops" and "battle turnips" :P I hope they do something a little different/fun, that would be nice. I do need some books from the shops, so I'll grab those pretty quickly and unless something else happens during the event, I'll pretty much be done with it! :P

FIRST DAY FOR KIDS!! We have 18 confirmed, 1 we could not get in touch with. We shall see if he shows up today. Three we have no idea how they are getting home yet, so hopefully parents will walk them in and we can ask. (one is our set of boy twins - yes twins again!! Can't remember if I've said already but we have THREE sets this time, one boy set in our class, one boy set in the other class, one girl set, split up!)

450pm First day done. Was a pretty good day. Two cried at first. One of those clung to dad and I had to help pry him off, mom had already left to room (to cry herself I think lol) But he settled after a little bit. The other one cried longer but finally settled too. Then we had one cry at naptime, not sleep at all, and fall asleep LITERALLY as we stood up to go turn the light on AAAAHHHHH We also had a naptime potty accident. AND THEN!! TWO bus numbers were WRONG. They were supposed to have doubled checked all the numbers, given out the correct ones to parents at open house, and we did verify the ONE we were uncertain about - but TWO others were messed up. Thankfully ALL had older siblings. The first one, the bus driver was like "Hey this kid doesn't ride my bus!" and I was like, umm well her tag has your bus number, thats the number we were told .. ? He says "I don't take kids to this address" (which is also listed as well as the bus number on her tag). So I'm like WHAAAAT, ok I take her along with me to figure it out after I get the others on the bus instead. I get to the third bus in line, and the driver practically pulls one of my kids out of line, (She KNOWS him) and tells him to get on the bus and I'm like, UMMM NO!!! He is NOT on your bus, his tag says this bus... she is like, no he IS on my bus, I take that address...so I'm like WHAAAAT??? And what about THIS kid who DOES have your bus number, do you take her too then or is HER number wrong? (Look at address) yes I take her. OK BUT I AM COMING BACK TO SEE IF HHIS AND HER SIBLINGS ARE ON THE BUS TOO!!! Next two buses I check with the driver that they go to the address listed. Ok phew. THOSE three kids are fine (one is the set of boy twins, so they ride the same bus of course). I get around the END of the buses, still no idea what bus the first child rides. I keep walking along, looking for her siblings. Find one "What is your bus number?" "I don't know, its on my tag!!" His tag says a different number than hers. We walk ALLLLL the way around the buses again together with him, I check with the bus driver, she knows the brother? She goes to this address? Ok this is his sibling, her tag is wrong for the bus number. GRRRR I go back to the bus with the driver that knew my kid - I ask if I can get on the bus to verify that the siblings of the two kids are on the bus. One is for one of them, and I finally see sisters of the other one. As I am checking this, TWO other siblings are being told this is their bus (by the bus driver!) and the teacher is doing the same thing I did - no they have a different bus number on their tag ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH BUT at least I double checked with all the drivers that they went to the correct address and checked that siblings were on the bus with the ones that had siblings. GRRRR What a nightmare. Then I did car rider (which I will do EVERY day this year, no swapping weeks) in the super muggy heat for almost 40minutes. AND we had kids coming out with NO TAGS and no color coded paper slips so again, we have NO IDEA what cars they get into. Lucky most older kids KNOW their cars but its still annoying!!

[edit] Aug 3rd 11am So as of this morning, all of my items I need for the three Nuegarten shops are bought. I still need to feed some foods to Kayano and read the books to my pets but I've BOUGHT them ALL. Now waiting on the next event of this event to happen ;)

Well, that sounds like an absolute cluster of a situation! What a mess. :( I'm glad you were paying attention.. and so were the bus drivers!

I bought everything I needed/wanted when I got home today, so now I'll just need to actually.. remember to feed all the foods :P
