for user hovers, i don't think medals make a ton of sense. they're way too small to properly see, and it clutters the interface.
agree with holiday actions; it can be a pain to have to hunt through someone's profile to find the button to click if they don't put it in their signature.
biggest thing I would see being a big improvement item wise(either hover or in search) would be putting the year beside location
For pets I really love the idea of being able to showcase a few of their treasure items :D I also like that idea being used for books read, food, battle items, battle opps defeated, pet friends, leashed info, fun stuff like that ect. maybe it could be a 'Showcase' of sorts that the user could decide what to show for their pet with a toggle? limit it to 3 items and x amount of showcases (so that everything fits, not sure if that's an issue with this kind of thing)
Also would like to add the Pet Spotlight trophy for winners <3
As far as user info goes, I'm all for toggles so people can show what's important to them. I like the idea of showing items from collections, top 3 achievements, status, pet, signature image?, the tot, dance type of buttons, pet, and status.
I use the item hovers all the time. I think they're fine as they are. It is frustrating, though, that they don't appear in restocking shops.
I only use the user hovers during holidays because some of my dear friends like to fancy up their profile pages in ways that hide useful things like "dance", "flower", "trick or treat" and Lumi trees.
I would rather not have any pet information in the hover than there already is. I am always seeing people looking for pets with low ID numbers or specific creation dates and while all of my friends are kind and respectful, I do worry that people who are less so might pester other people for that kind of thing, similar to the occasional person who asks to buy your CWs while you are wearing them.
I know all that data is available on the pet profile page which can be reached from the hover, but I feel like people who might not actually go there to check might take notice.
Please keep in mind that hovers which pop up when you accidentally move your mouse over the wrong thing can be really disorienting if you're having trouble concentrating. The pet leash text will make the pet hovers bigger and I'd rather that not be the case.

User hovers: Status would be great (especially for holidays!); active pet is always nice to see; the link to message is handy; a button to like their HA would be cool!
Item hovers: I use almost all the things that are currently in the item hover (recent user price, add to WL, shop search, wardrobe preview, account search). I've seen the idea of having item uses on there thrown around and I like that (it could even be something as simple as icons: a book for books, hamburger or similar for foods, ball for toys, animal face silhouette for minions). I also like the idea of including official site location (something like: Esther's Shop (2020) or Plot Reward: Faded Memories. If this could include whether things are in stock or not (e.g, Token Shop: Not In Stock) that would be SUPER cool but idk how hard that would be to do & keep up to date.)
they/them/theirs, please.
Weirdly, if an item is a food, I kind of want to know if it's edible-- mostly for things that I didn't realize you COULD feed a pet.
(This might just be a me problem to figure out, though--)
On item hovers I really do use all the current options! Especially shop search and account search.
I myself would love to see all these hovers you and the others have suggested and mentioned. I am looking forward you seeing them in action. (so to speak) Have a great weekend one and all!

Agreed! I really like these suggestions for the hovers. :)
A certain someone that I know should get a special hoarder award for having so many Nicole's.
I like these ideas too, and I also would link this hover thing to be customizable so we can display the info we want and are comfortable with sharing.

These are really really good additions, I'd love to see medals in the user hover but it wouldn't be the end of the world if they are left out
time to brush off the nicole richie item....
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT the nicole richie PLEASE, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I understand why it's done. It's just one of the best items out there, in my opinion
Pets: Treasure in hovers: no ID; DOB; - yes
Items: edible/readable - yes please Otherwise, the item hover is perfect for me.
Username: User ID yes, I see many other features are there already, and they look good.
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
Being able to chose what is shown in the hovers would be great!
For pets:
Also maybe some kind of blurb, where you can optionally fill in a quote or a short description for your pet? Just 2 lines or so.
For users:
For items:
[edit] Another idea for the item hover: maybe expand the concept of "collection" to foods eaten and books read. So you could pick a pet for each of these and have it shown in an item hover if the chosen pet has read the book or eaten food.
Not sure if an even further expansion would be helpful/doable, like, is this item used in an achievement/do I still need it for an achievement.
I know I'm really late to the party here, but I wanted to add some feedback about the item hovers as they currently are on the Kumos site:
Like almost everyone else on this thread, I think the item hovers as they are currently on the legacy site provide a lot of useful information. It would be nice to at least replicate that on Kumos. What's currently missing on the Kumos hovers that are on the legacy site hovers are:
As for user & pet hovers - being able to customize what shows for those individually sounds cool!
Briefly, for user hovers:
For pets - I see they don't have a hover on Kumos anymore but I do think it could be a fun addition still!
A few other random thoughts:
Whether or not hovers become customizable for everyone, I think it would be fun for staff to customize the hovers for NPC accounts. It's a little sad to see, for example, Euclid make a news post and the only information shown is that that account hasn't been logged into for almost 6 years. Maybe it could include some kind of minor lore blurb about the character and a link to their section in the subetapedia?
I feel like the big paw pad icon and highlight around the username on Kumos is just kind of begging to be made customizable - it's so much more "in your face" that the super tiny icon on the legacy site. But I also get that at the moment it does convey information concisely - if a user has a gold account/subscription or is a staff member - and adding lots of icons & colors to the mix would muddy that somewhat.
The medals on the user hover need to go. Period.
You can't even hover over those images to get what they are, I could see it being a little different if there were something along the lines of alt text that appeared to show what they are. I know that turns up on the user profiles but on user hovers on the forums or anything outside the direct user profile right now, it's just clutter.
Besides, I'm not here to make everyone my absolute utter archnemesis because they have how many ever more... fill in the blank. I'm just not. Yes, I have the army of straw Yule goats and the army of the adorable Medusa plushies but I'm not out to do that with every. single. item. It's not feasible and, imo, it takes a lot of the fun out of the site to always be in a contest with everyone else to hoard so many things.
What does that have to do with user hovers? Idk, maybe implement something about if you're an older player and want to help newbies, there's something denoting so in your user hover. It's just not in me to be ragingly selfish and get pixelated trophies for it. I just don't see the point to it anymore.
What happened to helping other players.
