I love the mining look today :d

Niamh didn't want the soggy look, but it fits the weather we've had over the last few days. I was planning on going to the classic car show with Dad today, but we had so much rain yesterday and overnight that I think the car park field will be just a massive mud pit, and I can't imagine many of the classic cars will show up (the actual show is held on the grass at a local rugby training ground).

I have some cedar blocks in a cupboard in my room (Mum & Dad had moths in their mattress a few years ago), but the blocks didn't actually seem to do anything to repel any bugs - I found one moth sitting right next to the block before o.O

I've got the bedroom wall colour sussed (that'll be a light cream as the room is north-facing, so it needed a warm colour). I've not got the colour picked out for the hall yet (mostly that depends on what colours are available in a bathroom-style paint!), but it needs to be something light as there's no windows in the hall.

I'll give it a watch later - I've got it paused at the start of your bit ;)

cheers, I was shot for ideas.

I see. Shame about the car show but i reckon you made the wise choice. It sounds like it would be a very muddy place to be.

Oh that's kinda funny o.0 and kinda not. " They despise lavender and others smells, so you can use a bit of cotton or a tissue soaked in essentials oils (lavender, mint, eucalyptus or thyme are the best options) that you put in your dresser." maybe one of those other scents would work? I quite like mint scents. I got cedar balls because the shop thought I had bow bugs from my prolonged storage of my violin. But I'm thinking since I saw no evidence of bugs whatsoever, that possibly the bow tension forced the horse hairs free and that's why the bow lost so many hairs in the first place. But nearly all of the natural repellents they suggested weren't going to work for me, especially the lavender which is too floral for my allergies and it's also not cat safe. Carmen loves laying in my cases so i wanted cat safe AND Raven safe lol. So the cedar won.

there's no windows in our hall either and it's a slightly minty grey, but our previous house it was short of a buttercream yellow. So you could go a bit bold if you liked that of course. My room is a bright blue-green teal, which I know you don't care for as much lol. Just don't go with yellow or orange as the wall colour of your bedroom. Orange promotes food cravings, which is why a lot of MCDonalds were orangey inside colours back in the 80s. I had a really bold sunshine yellow room in our previous home and I loved it. But as I looked back when picking a colour for my room here, I realised that I did feel anxious and such for what felt like no particular reason. I read up on colour choices and the webpage of psychology of colours said that purple, blues and greens are some of the best choices you can make for the room as they all desired bedroom effects. Of course, neutrals were also redocumented. But I grew up in Military housing which typically selected cream and I couldn't manage to live in a cream bedroom without feeling like I was back in a military house lol but I do like cream, just not in my bedroom .

No worries.

and of course today since the time of day I would've left for the car show, it's been dry and mostly sunny facepalm

Mum's used lavender, and again it doesn't seem to be as useful as the online recommendations might sound... either that or the moths we had just seem to have no sense of smell!! :P But although I don't mind the smell of the lavender plant on the allotment, I fine it a bit too overpowering using a lot of it to try and deter the moths! I do have a spearmint essential oil, so I might try that and see if it's not too strong for my noise ;)

That makes sense for you to avoid the essential oils though, especially seeing as Carmen has decided that the violin case it actually a pretty comfy bed :P

At the moment my bedroom in the flat has green carpet (seriously, the carpet all the way through is green), white and grey walls, and a dark blue blind on the window (I'm sure the previous owner either was colour blind or just didn't mind clashing colours!). The creamy shade I've got in mind is a bit deeper cream than magnolia, but when I tried the deeper cream shades they all looked quite heavy & like they'd make the room feel too dark - especially as it only gets the early morning sunshine.

sorry about that

It figures your moths are immune to these measures :K Give the spearmint a go. Maybe it'll be more effective.

lol yeah she's so cute :) though I am having to hoover out ginger hair from the cases every so often lmao.

LOL I know that green carpet is going :P Fresh paint of your choosing should really help make the place feel like yours :D Not to mention less of a clashing colour collision lol..

and I keep finding stray ants in the kitchen (no way near as many as originally, but still the odd one every now and then)... so I've put some more cinnamon near where I saw it, and hopefully the spider I spotted in the window will catch any ants that get past the cinnamon line :P

laughs I can imagine if she gets her fur on the bow, it might gum up the bow hairs a bit?

How could you tell?! The room I've got in mind for sewing in, will hopefully be the first to get a new (something) on the floor. The first thing I looked at was way too pricey (and could be damaged if I drop scissors on it!), so I'm going to see if I can get as far as the local flooring shop and pick their brains ;) The bedroom is really clashing at the moment - green carpet, grey wall & cream wall, blue blind, purpley/grey duvet cover, purple chair and a navy blue fleece over the duvet just in case it feels cold overnight :P

Two rooms are being painted in about a months' time (as long as the decorator bloke confirms it's booked in) and I figured the other rooms can wait for a bit, at least while I figure out a suitable colour for them :P At least by that point we should've finished washing the walls (I hope!!)

good luck getting rid of those pesky ants. I hate ants

possibly with the oils in her fur. But thankfully her fur rarely goes onto the top of the case where the bow is. Its mostly in the well for the violin lol. It's amazing she can curve her body around that violin shape :P

oh subtitle nuances and whatnot :P you could possibly go for linoleum. It's cheaper and I believe more durable than hardwood.

lol yeah that does sound...vivid lol

ooh exciting . Maybe they can wash the walls too?

there's worse things, but ants are definitely annoying (especially when you think you've already got rid of them!)

I'm sure cats are actually liquid, with the way they can morph their bodies into whatever shape container they want to lie in :P

I'd looked at 'LVT' (vinyl tiles) which are meant to look like wood, but apparently if you drop scissors on them, it can pierce the vinyl :K so possibly I might look for laminate flooring instead, as that's still cheaper than the original one!

I don't want to have to pay them to clean the walls if I can help it laughs but I might need to add 'making good' in the inside of one wardrobe as the paint has lifted off the wall in places o.O

Love the HA by the way :d

I have the same problem with my kitchen cupboards. Some of them are just so darn high up. A step thing sounds like a great idea. I have to do that too sometimes. lol t

He is mostly good when I am knitting or crocheting, but I can't leave the project out while I am not around or he will have a blast tearing it to bits. lol

Using lower graphic settings fixed my Hogwarts Legacy game, so it runs smoothly now. Why they allow these high settings when it crashes the game, I dunno. Just glad I can keep playing.

I have no idea how I'm going to clean above the kitchen cabinets - even stood on a stepladder, there's not much space to reach over them to clean it!

hehe at least he's not too badly behaved when you're actually working on something ;)

Bah, I've been trying to sort an internet connection for my flat.... so far the "best" broadband speed is 11 (and one company actually told me the speed would be 1). My parents' place gets a maximum speed of 74 I think, so I'm going to have to do some research and find out what broadband the neighbours use!

I have to stand on the kitchen counter if I was to clean above the kitchen cabinets, which does not feel safe at all. Needless to say that does not get done very often. I can't reach it either even with a stepladder.

Most definitely worth looking into what other options there are then for internet. My provider gave me a free upgrade to higher internet speeds for a period of time, I did not actually notice any difference while streaming or browsing. O_o

Any idea when you will be moving in? :D

I did have to kneel on the counter to reach the window to clean it - and the window needs a bit of attention too (it doesn't seem to close quite as it should). When the electrician was trying to work on the extractor above the hob, she was standing on the counter to reach above the cupboards ;)

Yeah, I think I'll have to ask Mum to phone a couple of the companies - a couple of them seem to only do full fibre (fibre to the property) through their website, but maybe offer part fibre (fibre connection to the cabinet, then copper cables to the property - that's what's at my parents' place) if you phone up.... the disadvantage of not feeling comfortable with phone calls!

Not too sure yet - as much as I want to go ahead and do an overnight there (and even that's still not moving in properly), I think I'm going to have to build up gradually to that, and do more time during the day first ;)

yeah laminate seems like a good way to go!

lol I can understand that. hope you can get them clean :D

thanks. I like your ha as well.

oh yay! Im glad its sorted for you <3

rodents make me feel worse than ants :P

I'll have to see if I can get to the flooring company on the other side of town (parking is almost impossible, but they're the easiest one to get to out of all of them), and hopefully they'll have some sample pieces in their showroom so I can get an idea of what the flooring types actually look (and feel) like ;) I'm struggling to tell just from a photo on their website :P

I got one wardrobe almost clean, but rubbing my hand over it, the wall is still covered in the residue of what I used to clean it facepalm so I need to rinse it off again before that wardrobe can be used :K Unfortunately what I'm using dries white, so on a white wall it's almost impossible to tell if you've rinsed it or not, unless you rub against it

And that's a stunning unicorn centaur-y look :D

true i wouldn’t want to find a rodent roaming my house either.

I can see how that could be frustrating. Here i know there are some companies that come out with samples so thats an option maybe?

Oh dear that sounds complicated lol

Thank you. I had this one presaved as my bday one is slightly too early to put up yet.

I know there's most likely been some rodents under the kitchen units in my flat (we found a pile of cavity wall insulation balls when the electricians took off the kickboard under the cupboards), but hopefully that's an old problem that doesn't happen now!

I've got some free samples from some flooring manufacturers, but those were the ultra-pricey ones unfortunately laughs I might see if some of the other brands also do free samples sent to your home, so I can have more of an idea of what might work before the actual company come and look ;)

Not complicated as such.... just really annoying! And the front door is the same - I got the muck off, but there's still this white chalky residue on there :K

I thought you'd have a week's worth of birthday HAs to use! 😇

Your birthday card was posted today (presents still to come - see the note in the card 😇), so hopefully it will arrive this week (it said 3 to 5 days, but sometimes it arrives a lot faster than that) ;)

I am happily chipping away at my long list of quests to do now in Hogwarts. It's great. lol Any birthday plans? :D

It would be a lot better if my cupboards went all the way up to the ceiling to avoid this issue. The top of the countertops does get sticky and gross too, so put down some wax paper on there. Seems to help some.

I never liked phoning companies either, so I will always use chat or email if possible. :P I hope your mom will be able to find something suitable. It makes sense to take it gradually then, so that you won't get too overwhelmed. It is a big change. :)

sweet! My diamond painting is of a girl with a violin on a beach with a pirate like boat in the far background, and some sheet music in the wind. She's also kinda standing on a piano :P

I hadn't thought of putting anything on top of there - that makes a lot of sense :D I don't know quite what my countertop is made from - it looks different to what's at my parents' place, but I don't know if it's just a thin layer over the old counter (almost like a sticky-back plastic film), or if it's actually a 'proper' worktop, but just installed in sections!

I don't get on with the live chat either, but most companies that I've needed to contact lately don't seem to have an option for emailing them :K

We tried cleaning the washing machine today - the base where the drain & filter are, came out like black ink, so I'm guessing there's something like a rubber seal that's disintegrated :K Mum's going to phone our washing machine repair place, and see if they could just to a service on my one, to make sure it's actually fit for purpose, given how it doesn't look like it's really been cared for that much.

Happy birthday!! :D

I did half the bedroom wardrobe, but made sure I rinsed the solution off the walls an extra couple of times, in the hope I don't leave that chalky mess behind :P The wardrobe is utterly filthy though :K The shelf was brown on one edge (I thought the paint had worn off, but it was muck on top of the paint :K), and the wall at the base of the wardrobe (the previous owner had a drawer fixture in front of that wall) is mottled black :K So I need to take a face mask before I can tackle that section!

That's a fantastic HA!! :D

What pressies did you get?
