so I read books regular and manga/graphic novels Ive read a total so far this year of 68 books! Ive been doing jigsaw puzzles (not kept count on these). Ordered my 1st diamond painting kit! its a set of coasters I wanted to start with something simple..(at least I hope they're simple).. Been watching some movies this month.. Flintstones Christmas, Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas, Scooby-Doo! Haunted Holidays, Back to the secret garden. Trying to keep busy..Lots happened and still going on this year.
Someone dumped a 2 week old pup out.. so Im taking care of it.. Shelters, rescues all full so might end up just keeping him.. There banned in town and since im outside of town there not banned here.. ( my county and other counties around here put a ban on certain dog breeds).. I do not agree/ like the ban but it was the churches doing they got together and had a meeting and got the ban issued and now its law in this county.
Anyway does anyone have any tips advice for diamond painting? Ive been watching videos on it..

Ive been doing the virtual check out where you check out a ebook online from the library and read it online. I also bought a few manga/graphic novels so those I own. Ive also checked some out from the library(didn't know libraries had these kinds of books) so it's saving me money.
Ive heard about the tweezers also heard about a light up board.. I do my puzzles under a floor lamp so im thinking I can use it for my diamond kit. Its a set of coasters. my kit just comes with the coasters, drill pen, gems, wax, tray and I think thats it.

A floor lamp should be a good light source! If it's good enough for puzzles, it'll be good enough for diamond painting. And you don't really NEED any extra bits other than a decent set of tweezers, especially if you're just getting your feet wet, so to speak. But if you decide you really like diamond painting and want to keep doing them, things like having a drill storage system can make it so much easier. I kind of jumped in at the deep end since the kit my mom gave was, like, poster sized, so I ended up spending a lot of time doing research, and then learning some things by trial and error. I hope to spare you some of the trial and error, at least!

my diamond painting kit arrives today! not sure when I will start work on it though. Currently have a headache/migraine. hoping the symbols on the kit won't be hard to read.. Ive heard some kits are a bit blurry on there symbols.. been researching sealers.. I had some tweezers around the house.. but not sure where there at.. been looking at diamond painting tool kits.. seen they vary in price..
Im currently taking a break from reading.. can't focus.. last book I read was "Takane & hana" however I kinda got bored with it.. (its a manga 18 volumes long)
I did end up buying "Daughter of the Moon Goddess" (physical book)first book in a series.. it will take me awhile to just finish this 1 book its very long(512 pages).. I got it on sale.
Im trying to cut back on expenses so the library is handy.. I use gift cards to get puzzles, books, colored pencils,ect.. I used a gift card to get my diamond painting kit.
I get gift cards from receipt scanning apps.

I understand entirely, I've had book that sat with a bookmark in the middle for weeks because I just couldn't keep my attention on them. I feel like I've heard of Takane & hana somewhere before... But with 18 volumes, I'd be bound to get distracted partway through at some point!
Oh, I've never thought to use a receipt scanning app to do something like that! That's quite genius, basically being rewarded for shopping you probably had to do anyway!

I started and finished 1 coaster.. 1 of my 6 (or was it 5?) arrived damaged..
It was a long process.. but I got it done. sent in a report about the one being damaged upon arrival.
Got my hand in the sticky a few times.. had no issues of the gems coming off.
A sealer would stop things from sticking correct? had to remove a few fuzzes.. I posted a pic of it finished on my instagram.

so far ive not heard back(on the report I filled on the damaged item)
do you know of a site called newcraftday I seen a diamond painting on there I like but cant find the same kit anywhere else.. Was just wondering if they have good customer service..
Also when im not working on a a kit how do I store it? I heard someone say to roll it so the picture is facing the outside.. (is this correct? just sounds a bit odd) Ive got my eye on a 40x50cm kit. I know it will probably take a month or 2 to complete.. I won't be able to just leave it out on a table..(I also have cats) I do have a table just for hobby stuff.
called my vet they said pup can be fixed at 3 months. he is probably 1 month old now.

I can't say I've ever used that site. I'm pretty sure most of the kits I have, my mom bought on Amazon, and I do the majority of my other craft shopping in physical stores (the pictures online never seem to be the actual color of yarn for some reason).
I've read to roll it like a poster, too, but I think it said to roll with the picture to the inside. Seems to me you'd risk losing drills you've already placed by rolling it the other way. You can also cover any of the exposed surface with parchment paper and store it flat.
Oh, he's practically a wee baby still, then! Gosh, who could ever abandon such a young pup like that is beyond me. Those two months until he can be fixed will probably go by in a flash, though!
xe/they/she
I hope the pupper is doing okay! I love diamond painting! i recommend using only one color of drills at a time so theres no confusion. Theres not much to it really. I think theres a lot of pressure to use the bigger applicators but theres nothing wrong with just the single applicator until you are comfortable with the process
the coasters I currently have are from amazon. since Ive still not heard back I left some seller feedback. Since only one is damaged I put a fair rating also since the seller isn't responding to me. I could go through amazon and get a exchange but since its only slightly damaged im not going to bother with it.. (id have to send the entire kit back)
I don't drive so im not at stores very often. Plus gas is so expensive.. The nearest craft store to me is an hour away.. my town is small only one grocery store.. 3 dollar generals 1 dollar tree(which nothing is really a dollar anymore).. no hospital 1 doctor office.. Its a very small area. no taxi cabs just a medical transit which I use for my dr. appointments (my insurance pays for this transportation).
I found this art pro folio case thingy on amazon its for diamond paintings.. thinking about getting it..(when I get enough funds) a2 storage book
Ive also created myself a dp (diamond painting) wish list to keep track of items I want. wish list
He is doing fine. He is eating his puppy chow, playing with toys, ect.. He is just not big enough to go off steps by himself yet..(I have a porch)
I tried doing only one color gem at a time but my hand kept sticking in the undone gem spots.
Im kinda tired/wore out today.. Been dealing with poachers on the place. (it's a every year thing) gotta love neighbors that claim to be Christians(but they trespass, poach, cut fences,ect..).. I know it's the neighbors they have been seen doing these things but have to get it on camera before police will step in.. They stole a camera that was hidden in a tree cause it would have pics of them trespassing on it.

Ah, yeah, I understand that, the place I consider my hometown is a tiny place, at least half an hour from everywhere, I swear. Except Dollar General, we also had like three of those around the village. Dollar General could build a store in the middle of a corn field and it wouldn't surprise me. Lucked out when I moved with my beau, our location is perfect for walking places. Library, restaurants, a couple grocery stores, and various little shops all within easy walking distance. I still have to rely on my beau to drive me when I need to go to a big craft store like Jo-Ann or Michael's, though, those are all in the downtown area. We do have a little local fiber arts shop not far from the library, but I've never actually been into it. I've looked at their stuff online, and it's all, like, hand-dyed and artisanal stuff, they're pretty expensive, so probably for the best I've never went inside.
Oh, that's a neat little storage thing! Come to think of it, I have a big art portfolio from my uni days, with a little ingenuity, I think I could make it work for storing diamond paintings. Wouldn't be quite as nice as a folio you can flip through, but it should do in a pinch for me. Work with you've got and all that, haha~
Wow, you've found a lot of neat things! I didn't even know there were bookmarks and keychains for diamond painting, you've taught me something new. (Hello Christmas wishlist, haha~)
Your neighbors sound terrible, though! I hope their bad karma catches up with them soon. On top of everything else, stealing an entire camera just because they're out there doing stuff they shouldn't, "jerks" doesn't even begin to cover the words I would like to use for them.

when I go to hobby lobby again im going to check out there diamond painting section. I was just going there for the 40% off puzzle sales. Now I know they have board games (at least that's what ive heard) and I think I seen a DP section.. wonder if they sell the tools in a kit.. bad part is my store charges 3 (or is 4?) sets of taxes..city,county, and others I don't remember (part of why I don't shop there but every few months) I even get charged a 911 tax when I buy phone time.. (I do this online) taxes here..taxes there taxes EVERYWHERE!
It's just me and my mom here. Ive had leg surgeries(need the other leg done) and my mom has health issues cause they did a surgery on her and well it was a mess.. They put Botox in injection in her(she did not sign for it neither did I) they put a defective hernia mesh in her.. they can't fix it just loosened it.. She now has a unfixable hole (can't remember word for it) in her body from all this damage.. We have a lawyer who has taken this case. cause this is permanent damage and they did stuff they where not supposed to do (such as the botox).. It could take years though on this case..
So ya dealing with a lot...we do puzzles together.
They even have magnets and Christmas ornaments, all kinds of stuff.. you could use the key-chain ones as Christmas decor on a tree (that's just my opinion).
This whole town is messed up anyway.. Truthfully Id on't know of a town that's not messed up.. This town in this area is known as the "POT" capital.. so many druggies in this town.. One road in particular is known as drug alley.. cause pretty much all that lives on it is druggies.
Cops just don't seem to care in this area unless your a big wig with money. my neighbors have money.. two neighbors have multiple properties.. It's just a mess in this area. a transit from another county picked me up once he is baptist and he said he heard of the church that took this area over (there putting one in his county) and he said he been hearing it's a cult church.. In a way he is correct.. They tell you how to dress..what and when you spend your money on.. they even decide if you get help in this county because they run the resource center. we got a letter in mail once from them and it was a hateful letter.. Telling us to find god or we good go to (blank). Then there was other stuff im not going to even mention..
Lately they been posting telling people to stop judging their church. the end is near get baptized before it's to late(and they are giving gifts to people who do this)..
Me personally I agree the church is a cult (this one not all) There bribing people to get baptized.. They even had a contest to see who get the most people baptized.. NO one and no place should send mail or tell people saying that they are going to to go to "blank" unless they go to church. They judge others but don't want people judging them.. in my opinion (yes I know no one asked for it) this is a hypocrite. Me and my mom and dad(when he was alive) went there once they whispered behind our backs.. Told us to wear dresses/skirts to church. We never went back. They even tried to get us sign paper making them in charge of our finances.. (till they thought we manage them ourselves) this is one screwed up church that preys on those who are poor.
end of rant. (sorry but I feel better now..)

Yikes! That sounds like a whole lot of medical malpractice there. And of course the docs will drag it out as long as possible, just trying to make you tired of it and get to the point where you just drop it. All while you have to try to pick up the pieces and figure out how to live with the damage and pain they caused. People are just really gross in the things they're willing to inflict on others sometimes... Glad you have each other and get to do puzzles together, though! (And I'll be here hoping you can get a favorable resolution on the case before the heat death of the universe! I know legal matters always seem to move at a glacially slow pace, and that's honestly an agony no one deserves.)
Ooh, magnets, those sound fun, too! I can't remember the last time I had a Christmas tree, we didn't have the space for the longest time, and I can't trust my cats not to try to eat it or play with the ornaments... Maybe I can make a little plush one, though, they wouldn't be able to do much damage to that, and then I just have to find some little charms or keychains that would be resistant to cat tampering to pin to it!
Definitely agree on not knowing any town that isn't messed up. I like where I am now, but we still have a lot of vagrants around here, and enough of a drug problem that the local library offered a free course about how to respond to OD situations. (Although most of the vagrants are fairly nice folks, there always have to be a troublesome few somewhere.)
Ugh, yes, and even if the cops decide to respond, they usually seem to make things worse somehow. It's like, just because you aren't in the right economic class, they can't be bothered at best, and will find some way to make it your fault at worst. As if having less money somehow means you instigate every unfavorable situation or you must somehow be inviting your more monied neighbors to cause trouble.
That church DEFINITELY sounds like a cult, WOW. That's just a whole flaming dumpster situation there. If you bribe someone into a faith, how can you really call that FAITH, anyway? And I can't imagine anyone that has ever read the good book and respects the spirit of the Word telling someone they'll be spending their eternity down below. That's just an awful thing to say, and any good person would be using kindness instead of hate. Definitely hypocrites, one hundred percent, I'm really glad you got away from them, though I'm sad to hear how awful they make things for anyone that isn't with them. They'll get what they deserve in the end, though, I'm sure of that.

do you share pics of your crafts somewhere?
We don't do trees here either.. we basically have a small meal on the holidays and that's pretty much it.. other than whatever I find on tv..(like Christmas movies) I mean I send holiday day cards to a friend I made but she lives in another state.. we never met..we just chat online.
We had a wax Christmas tree (it was green and shaped like a Christmas tree..) and some other stuff came with it even a wax snowman.. no clue where this stuff is now..
Been trying to clean out closets and other areas that haven't been touched in years.. Lived her for I know a least 20 years.. So I'm trying to declutter.. Sold some old bratz dolls..gave away some cabbage patch kids.. Trying to dust and go through the laundry.. It's all getting to be too much for my legs and back.. so that's why im getting rid of stuff.. There is just too much stuff for 2 people.
I think all the toys are gone now..got to sort through the clothes..been organizing my books. Closets are going to be the worst part to go through.. Still finding random pieces of fish aquarium stuff (I thought I sold it all).. Got to organize my bathroom cabinet it's a mess.. so much to do.. going to take me awhile to do all this..

I do pretty much the same for the holidays. We usually try to fit in a video call with family now that we live too far out to just make a day trip and visit, but other than that it's just me, my beau, our cats, and whatever food and movie we've decided go with the celebration.
It's amazing how much stuff a person can collect over the years. Trying to cull clutter has always been really hard for me, especially if I don't do something about it on a regular basis, so I commend you for managing to go through so many years worth of things!
Ahh, closets, collectors of random detritus since almost time immemorial. They're like the ubiquitous midwestern junk drawer, but on a larger scale. I know packing up our closets when we moved was one heck of a task, so I sympathize with you on how much of a process that is. One thing at a time and it all get done eventually, though. Still, won't hurt to wish you a little luck getting through it all!

cute mudkip I watched some of season 1 of pokemon.. Now it's all too confusing.. with all the new types of pokemon and things.. (I used to play the tcg version) I also recognize cat noir from miraculous ladybug (only seen bits and pieces of this) been trying find balala the fairies season 1 in english or with english sub.. I like anime and manga/graphic novels. sailor moon was my fav when I was a kid.
don't think im going get much done today.. my health issues are flared up.. had me a bit of home style bake and just trying to take it easy today. started a puzzle yesterday but it's a pain.. The background is blurry.. the main image(birds on a perch) isn't blurry.. Im having issues just assembling the border.. False fits..(where it snaps together all willy nilly)

Well, it's a good day to have a rest day! Hope you feel better soon! Argh, I hate puzzles like that, where a lot of pieces are practically the same exact shape and could fit anywhere. I try to avoid the brands that I know have problems like that whenever I can, but sometimes it's slim pickings at the puzzle swap or among secondhand puzzles. I think my favorite brand of puzzle lately is Cobble Hill; every piece in their puzzles is uniquely shaped, so I don't have nearly as much trouble with wrong pieces seeming to fit together, but I don't think I could afford to buy one of those new, they're pretty high quality. (Not that I can really afford to buy many puzzles at all new, regardless of brand. They're so expensive, I don't remember them being so pricey when I put them together with my mom as a kid.)

I would love to see your diamond paintings! Only streaming I pay for is disney +. the rest is free tv such as roku, tubi, pluto tv,ect.. Me and my mom been watching sulfur springs on disney + Ive seen tokyo mew mew, digimon and others.. Wedding peach was anime I enjoyed. shugo chara is another.
I got this puzzle from goodwill. It's a 500pc panoramic (my 1st and probably last). I have springbok,Ceaco, and im not sure what else.. I remember when crunchyroll used to be free.. and hulu used to be.. This feels like forever ago..
