I did about 15 pets to 10 wins against Captain, will do more later. Then 25 on Rita and Bonesaw with one pet. Bonesaw random drop up to 10 amulets and tomes and 5th win is a tome, amulets after 10 and maybe tomes. Rita dropped no amulets or tomes at any time.

TLDR: the aquatic animal challengers drop amulets and/or tomes based on difficulty while pirate challengers generally don't drop. Beat the animals first unless you are more focused on exp.

Anyone have any tips to share when battling RIta? Best weapons/healers/freezers and scrolls to use? Thanks

Jess has Rita in the challenger guide. https://subeta.net/petinfo.php?petid=5970915#/BattleGuide/Rita . Primary attacks are dark and light with physical. She can be frozen so freezing spells are great.

I used dark (Maniacal Essence) and light blockers (Hand of Goddessbane) and freezing scrolls (Shriek of Despair) as much as my low AP has on my 2nd battle pet. Then Strength of the Paramnesia for once freezers run out, just because it is default in my scroll set for Anathema.

Deluxe death shard is also an extra freezer weapon. And I use phoenix quill a reviver of lion for healing. Don't forget to equip negating pylonic and glaciating pylonic, if you get her low enough use those for extra help at a chance to win.

Yes for the aquatic animals, no for the pirates.

Currently grinding wins past 10 against the Crawbeast for tomes and amulets and it's great. Will also be grinding Bonesaw. I'll have to see what drop rate past 10 is for the very hard on down for the other sea beasties.

Are mage tomes the most cost efficient for boosting? If not what is?

In terms of going out today and buying them usually - your right. They are usually the most bang for your buck since you get 1-3 of each stat including intel. Amulets are dumped into the market pretty regularly so they are the most easily obtainable. And taking a step further.... amulets have a roughly 1/6 chance of getting a tome so you could try your odds on buying amulets versus the tomes out right just keep in mind you might not come close to those odds for just turning in a handful!

6/16 challengers from the event are taken care of with 10 wins with all eligible pets. Gonna keep chugging along, just need to do BQs and then back to the grind.
