Hey everybody. I didn't want to make a big deal about this since I'm not that important and it doesn't matter who posts the ping, but since I was the bhp poster for 5+ years prior to my disappearance I thought I should post this.

This has been a long time coming, but I'm stepping down as owner of the bhp ping group. I am sorry to the community that I left the ping up in the air like that and put peoples streaks at risk, but I'm glad that it became steadier again despite the messy transition.

My explanation is under the spoiler below, but my main parting advice is to please work together as a community to make sure the ping happens. If you already come to the thread to post what you got right at midnight, please consider becoming a backup pinger.

The ping has always been open for anyone to use! If you see no one has pinged at midnight please go ahead, as the person who is regularly posting now may not always be there, and a few repeat pings at the same time is better than none at all, isn't it?

[Spoiler] Though I have been the owner since 2016 it's long been time to pass the torch. I did feel a sense of pride and responsibility for pinging, but because of my persistence to post it right at midnight for a full 24 hour reminder to all time zones, it has at times been a burden for various reasons that I won't go into. But for one, I'm on the same time zone as subeta and some days I'd rather not be awake at midnight.

This past 6 months I've reached a breaking point with a mental health crisis and ended up disappearing with no warning. At risk of sounding harsh to those who relied on me, not having to post the ping anymore has been a huge weight off my shoulders and I will not return to it. I'm too out of practice now anyway and my memory is too messed up to even remember to collect it myself, as an audience and not the pinger.

From personal experience over the past 5+ years, this task has the huge potential to become a burden to any one person left to take it on solely. In short, my parting advice to the group is to work together as a team to make sure the ping can happen - it's why the group's ping function is open to anyone in the first place.

I'm just a neurotic little man who wanted To Be The One To Help Others, and became burdened by something that used to genuinely bring me joy. I was never the original owner of the group, and ended up this way because the first owner wanted someone to take over pinging for a bit, and I stepped up to be the temp and ended up inheriting the group. I guess the cycle continues.[/spoiler]
