Just found out about this giveaway and I'm joining for sure, thank you for doing this :) Hope you're doing well!

Actually a double vault drop right now (two pages worth) one because I'm going to be super busy this week and don't know if I'll be able to make time or not, and two because now we've moved into the Brown items, and just like with the Black and Blue items, I don't have much to say about them specifically.
I do think I have to give shoutouts to: So, Masquerade. I think the reason that the Masquerade was my favorite event for the longest time was because so much of it really did relate to your HA. Before this, the site was booming with avatar items and people creating fun outfits and seasonal outfits, but with Masquerade, suddenly we had an event literally themed around the outfits you could create.
Not only were you required to wear a mask on your HA in order to participate in the dancing, but the dancing page showed you and your partner facing each other, with six other people watching along the sides - and each one was the actual HA!
I regret not having any pictures saved of some of the dances with my friends, I'm sure I took screenshots at some point, but never kept them. There was such a level of delight, especially that very first year, of actually having your HA and your friends HA facing each other on the dance background! Granted, it also showed some of the limitations of the HA system - primarily that the HAs are very much designed to only be seen one way, and flipping the image led to some things looking really wonky, plus the realizations that the eyes actually face AWAY from how the face is facing. The inadvertent humor of having two HAs dancing together, but the eyes are clearly looking away from each other XD
The very first Masquerade also had the incredible joy of not only being a new event, but also a full on plot for users to participate in. The murder mystery was very well done, the new NPCs introduced both fun and fully realized characters, and a vast array of steampunk items! (It also came shortly on the heels of the Great Pandemic, so it was two big events for the first time immediately after each other!)
NOPE GUESS WHO IS A LIAR, THAT'S RIGHT IT'S ME.
Looking at the old news posts, it actually was just a new event the first year, no plot involved! The plot came the NEXT year, in 2010! (also looking at the current event schedule had me massively confused, as Masquerade used to be in March, not May! Then again, Halloween used to run all of October, and now Morostide is only for half of October, though that change happened while I was still actively playing)
OKAY WELL
So there were still tons of new items, and I'm personally a fan of steampunk so I was thrilled with the new designs. And aside from my plot comments, all the same rang true for the first event!
Then come the SECOND event where all the plot happens, and you have to realize that for several weeks before, the HA forum had been spinning with people discussing what their outfits would be for Masquerade. (The HA forums used to be one where I'd hang out all the time. They were so active, it was people coming up with zombie outfits, the excitement of the pandemic, then designing outfits for events, posting previews for the new wearables as the site didn't have the hover feature or preview feature available at the time, so that actually took effort!)
Reading through the chronicle of the event is fun, but it does miss out on the theories and aspects that the users got to do, the conversations we had with the NPCs, discovery of the secret rooms and murder weapons, a level of interaction on top of the usual dancing for trinkets. You can still technically access the ballroom, even if you can't do anything any more https://subeta.net/explore/masquerade_ballroom.php
The NPCs showed up on forum threads and would talk with each other and with users (kudos to the staff members running the accounts!), there were letters from other NPCs in regards to the gossip and drama, it FELT so legitmiate!
While the Masquerade wouldn't reach that level of excitement again, every year users still got hyped over creating fun HAs fitting within the steampunk theme.
I personally was a bit sad when the Masquerade became more cyberpunk, but at the same time I fully understand why. We'd had many years of steampunk before that, and at some point you've just run out of making the same themed typed items. Moving to cyberpunk opened up a whole new style for artists to use to create items, as well as opening up more ways for people to create HAs, especially ones who may not have been so interested in the steampunk theme.
One from when I was still with my zapper skin and the coverup skins were deliberately bad (keeping a skin was supposed to be a challenge, after all!) and I couldn't decide if I wanted wings or not

Loving reading through this! Masq is my favourite as well and it looks like the early events must've been a tonne of fun. ^_^ Thank you again for the giveaway - I found a ! :o
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in giving away so many items before you head off into the wild yonder. You seem like a genuinely cool user and it's sad to see you go.
I wanted to especially say thank you for donating the Broken Bottles. They had been on my wishlist for a long time and I was able to snag them. The source material they're referencing is very near and dear to my heart as one of the happy memories from my childhood that was...a bit rough at times. Thank you. <3
I added several new brown items to my wardrobe. Thank you .

That's right, a second double page drop to make up for it!
these were big uses in the wardrobe! Again, we had more limited footwear that actually looked good, so these were a godsend! I find the entire line of these silly and adorable look i love them okay LOOK I LOVE IT OKAY
We've got the Builder and Buster sets here which makes me very very happy, I was a big Mythbusters kid, I would watch the episodes with my dad. I even had a checklist shirt that I used as a sleep shirt for a number of years.
I loved it from the moment I saw it so many years ago (pre-revamp version!) and I still love it now THIS ONE TOO
Thanks for the drop!

Shout out to , the zombie virus that EVERYONE wanted. I think this also prompted the request for wearable versions of earlier virus stages, I know a lot of users wanted that first stage to be wearable forever! They did eventually release the butterflies as a wearable, which of course instantly caused drama. They had just taken the butterflies and made them wearable, which caused those who kept the skin for ages to complain that, well, that they'd kept the skin for ages and It Wasn't Fair. Staff ended up compromising by having the butterflies get redesigned for the wearable item so it wasn't as much of a cut and paste. Still a lovely item, but harder to use (in my opinion). But sadly, that was a very common attitude for members of the site. Well, I worked hard for it, so why should others get it easier? That's not FAIR. I don't know if that's still an attitude here or not (and I know it's not one that's unique to Subeta in any way), but it definitely had some impacts on the site that I feel ended up being too restrictive/elitist because of that.
heee ❤
oooh, we've got this trunk going out! I was a BIG fan of it, used many items at one time or another. I'm pretty pleased with what I came up with, this was around the time I was really getting my style set, recognizing that I made really good HAs if they were fairly simple in appearance, even if they used a lot of layering to get there.

Also shout out to . It was a decent-ish HA for the time, but apparently I loved it enough to commission art for it! Once again, shout out to Romanteek for the art!

That wig is gorgeous!

I am not old. I am gracefully aged

Well, first of all, we've got the entire series in here! At least for the animal portion of it, I think the wigs are all named separately. Kudos to the artists for coming up with themed wigs to continue for each year in the donation items. We also have in this batch, another yearly themed collection. I think we'll get a big lump of those for the Elaborate sections (I think it's called that!)
❤❤
OH! The most expensive items in my entire vault!!! . Why yes I am bitter about the cost of groceries right now, why do you ask?
this item is driving me nuts. Wasn't the HA overlay totally different?? Or am I thinking of a completely different item? Wasn't it this??? (ignore the fact that this is one of my really old ugly HAs) ...I want you to know that the Internet itself tried to save you from seeing this image, it took multiple tries to actually upload it and get a valid link! But I swear this is what the item used to look like! It's so different now!

I managed to grab one of the Carved Stone Butterfly that you had in there which is awesome because I got to transform it and add the to my wardrobe :)
yeah they revamped that wig and they changed it sooo much, it didn't keep any of the character of the original :(
I just got which I have NEVER seen before, what a funky lil item!

I just had a look to see what wonderful surprises you’ve given away this time, and was so happy to nab a - she’s now happily at home in my minion collection <3 thank you again for this - I love reading your recollections of Subeta days gone by. In some ways, it’s changed so much over the years, in other ways it’s barely changed at all!
I got which was on my wishlist. What a cute wig :D
