for Goddessbane it's mostly horribly luck based. She can heal, she can fully block all physical and 30 of almost everything else, she can disable your weapons, she can't be frozen or stolen from, and she deals a wide range of icons so it's hard to guess what to block.

She deals ice, wind, water, light, dark and earth, so no point in fire, magma or physical blockers, and there's no point in hitting her with physical when she can negate it. She doesn't block light or air so those are your best offensive choices.

Beyond that, just use your strongest weapons, plenty of healing, and hope for bouts where she doesn't use her nastiest tricks. Since you can't freeze, load up your scroll set with anything that might help block some of her damage or punch through her weaknesses.

Lucky scrolls are great against her. They block her dark attack and deal a nice amount of unblocked light attack to her. The 500 heal doesn't hurt either. Given how many icon types she deals, having your spells cover one of them without decreasing attack is pretty helpful.
